Chapter 179 My Mr. Lu is Too Popular

A person happy with good tidings feels refreshed.

Su He was in a great mood after signing the first artist for her studio.

It's better to share joy than to enjoy it alone!

To celebrate the establishment of the studio's film and television department, Su He booked a spot at a high-end club and invited all the studio employees to have some fun.

Su He had specifically informed Lu Yanbei in advance that she would be home late.

Lu Yanbei's lips pursed unhappily upon receiving her message.

When his wife was idle, he worried she'd be bored, so he found something for her to do. The studio was meant to be a pastime for her. He hadn't expected her to become so engrossed and so serious about her career!

Now that she had a career, she'd seemingly forgotten about him, her husband, which made him quite displeased.

"Around what time will you be home?" he asked, his thin lips forming an unattractive curve.

"Around ten," Su He replied, applying touch-up makeup in front of the mirror. She hadn't worn makeup in a while and felt a bit unaccustomed to it. While dressing casually was fine normally, she needed to appear professional in front of her employees to maintain authority.

So late? Lu Yanbei's brow furrowed upon hearing this.

But he couldn't bring himself to be angry with Su He, so he compromised. "Address."

Su He paused.

Didn't he dislike noisy occasions?

"Are you coming?" she asked.

"To pick you up," Lu Yanbei replied gruffly.

Su He turned around in front of the mirror, her gaze satisfied as she pulled it away. "Great! See you tonight then!"

"Don't drink too much," Lu Yanbei urged earnestly before hanging up.

"Don't worry, I have it under control," Su He said, grabbing a sparkly clutch and walking out with a smile.

Lu Yanbei stared at the dark screen for a good while before coming back to his senses.

His wife was too precious to him; he had to tolerate it, even if he didn't want to!

When Su He arrived at the club, the employees were already there.

The moment she pushed the door open, the room fell silent.

Was this dazzling woman before them truly their young boss?

Although her face was the same, something felt different!

Perhaps it was because Su He usually appeared so approachable, laughing and chatting with everyone, and her understated demeanor, not flaunting jewelry, led some employees to forget she was their boss.

Now, seeing her in formal attire, they felt somewhat unaccustomed to it.

Dressed in a pure white suit today, its fashion-forward design made her an instant focal point. The perfectly tailored waistline accentuated her graceful figure.

Her long hair, casually spread over her shoulders, was swept up high and secured with a pearl headband. Paired with a full set of diamond jewelry from G, she exuded an air of nobility.

The radiant Su He made everyone present's eyes light up.

If before she was like a valley orchid, a university student, she was now a snow lotus on a high mountain, intelligent and elegant yet somewhat unapproachable, instantly creating a distance.

"Hello, boss!" someone started, and the others quickly followed suit.

Su He nodded slightly and asked, "Is everyone here?"

"Yes," replied the assistant.

Su He hummed in affirmation. "Everyone, please sit. Feel free to order whatever you'd like."

"Can we order seafood?" someone asked timidly.

"Anything is fine," Su He replied.

"Long live the boss!"

"The boss is mighty!"

They were young, after all. After a brief moment of quiet, they became boisterous again.

Su He shook her head and chose a single table to sit at.

High heels made her figure look good, but they were just too tiring.

The private room had various entertainment facilities, including a KTV. During the evening, many people invited Su He to join them, but she refused.

"You all sing, I'll pass," she waved her hand.

"It's more fun if we all sing together!"

Su He, unable to refuse further, reluctantly chose a familiar English song.

She hadn't sung in a long time and felt a little nervous. However, once she got into it, she gradually found her rhythm. By the end of the song, she hadn't gone off-key.

"Wow, I didn't expect the boss's wife to sing so well!"

"This song seems pretty old; the boss's playlist is a bit niche!"

The employees hummed along and tapped their feet.

When the song ended, they instinctively applauded and whistled for her.

"That was amazing!"

"Sing another one, we haven't heard enough!"

"The boss is truly multi-talented, we are ashamed of our inferiority!"

Su He didn't believe their flattery and refused to sing another song. "Don't even think about it, this is all I know."

"How is that possible!"

"The boss is too modest!"

Su He picked up the drink on the table and took a few sips, only realizing belatedly that she had picked up a cocktail. Immediately, her throat burned with a fiery sensation.

Oh no! She'd be lectured again when she got home!

Su He's heart sank.

"What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?" the assistant asked, noticing her discomfort.

Su He waved her hand. "I'm fine, could you please get me a juice instead?"

The assistant nodded and returned with a glass of fresh watermelon juice.

Su He took a couple of sips, finally managing to suppress the burning taste of alcohol.

Eating, drinking, and having fun, time always flies by quickly.

Su He picked up her phone and glanced at it. It was already 10:03 PM.

She had been too engrossed watching them dance battle!

Thinking of someone waiting for her downstairs, Su He felt a pang of guilt. She quickly found his number and dialed it. Two seconds later, the call was answered.

"Finished?" Lu Yanbei's deep voice came through.

Su He slid off the bar and walked into the hallway to answer. "Yes, we can pack up soon."

"Okay, wait there, I'll be right up," Lu Yanbei said, then hung up.

Su He leaned against the wall, taking a moment to process what had happened.

He was coming up to pick her up?

While Su He was still in a daze, a tall figure approached with steady steps. His black trench coat swished beautifully as he walked, like a runway model, captivating everyone's attention.

Handsome men always draw attention.

Indeed, before he even reached Su He, a bold woman stepped forward to strike up a conversation.

"You look familiar, can I buy you a drink?"

Lu Yanbei didn't even spare her a glance, walking past her.

"Aren't people here for fun? Why so aloof!" The woman, seemingly drunk, turned hostile when Lu Yanbei ignored her.

"How much do you want to drink with me? I have plenty of money!"

Lu Yanbei, too lazy to deal with the drunken woman, walked straight to Su He. "Why are you standing here? Aren't you cold?"

He took her slightly cool hand in his.

In front of everyone, Su He placed her hand on his shoulder. "It's nothing, I just wanted to see how popular my Mr. Lu is!"

Lu Yanbei: ...
