Chapter 202: Chapter 202: Questioning Me Is a Very Foolish Thing
The dull financial news was still playing on the TV. Although Tang Yuxiu said he wouldn’t turn off the sound, he had indeed turned it down to the minimum so it wouldn’t disturb Gu Yan at all.
The villa was very large, and only the faint sound from the TV filled the small space of the living room, while the rest was so quiet that even breathing seemed exceptionally sharp.
Perhaps neither of them had thought that one day, they would interact like this.
But that day had come.
Some things are destined to develop in a certain way, beyond anyone’s control or prevention.
After going around and around for such a long time, they had come to each other’s side.
When Gu Yan woke up, it was just noon. She had been sleeping in Tang Yuxiu’s arms the whole time, and neither of them had changed their position.
Gu Yan didn’t feel anything, she slept well, but Tang Yuxiu had almost become numb on one side, yet he just silently held her.
Gu Yan climbed off him and looked at him apologetically, "I’m sorry, I didn’t know anything while I was asleep."
"It’s okay," Tang Yuxiu said calmly and tried to slowly move his arms and legs.
Gu Yan eagerly leaned over, "Let me massage you a bit to ease the discomfort."
Tang Yuxiu didn’t refuse; since she offered, he wouldn’t be so foolish as to oppose.
Gu Yan’s hands pressed here and there on him, making him feel comfortable, and the numbness in his body gradually improved. He watched Gu Yan’s profile with deep eyes.
Sometimes Gu Yan would turn her head and ask, "How does it feel?"
He would nod, "Not bad."
After a good while, Gu Yan finally stopped and looked at the clock on the wall, "It’s twelve o’clock, are you hungry?"
"Are you thinking of eating?"
"Yes." She nodded.
"Go to the kitchen and heat up the food. Let’s eat."
"Okay!" Gu Yan responded, bouncing off the sofa and running to the kitchen.
Tang Yuxiu helplessly smiled. She was really easily satisfied.
Gu Yan passed by the dining room and only then noticed that they hadn’t cleaned up the breakfast items, so she cleared the table first before reheating the food in the kitchen.
She didn’t eat much in the morning, and now she was truly hungry.
After lunch, Gu Yan remembered to ask Tang Yuxiu, "Boss, aren’t you going to work today?"
Tang Yuxiu glanced at her calmly, "No."
"Why?" She asked, her eyes sparkling.
"I’m the boss. If I don’t want to work, I don’t go," Tang Yuxiu said matter-of-factly.
Gu Yan pouted. You were showing off your bossiness and caprice, but that wasn’t the answer she wanted to hear.
Couldn’t he just tell the truth that he stayed for her!
"Boss, you always say you speak honestly, but now your words don’t seem very truthful."
"So what? As long as I say it, it’s true!"
Gu Yan was completely speechless. As the boss, you do whatever you want.
"If you don’t go to work, what about the company’s matters?"
"Who said you can’t work from home?" Tang Yuxiu retorted.
Gu Yan raised an eyebrow, "Are you going to the study? Can I go with you?"
"What would you do there?" Tang Yuxiu asked, suddenly raising a brow, adding a bit narcissistically: "Is it because you want to see me all the time? Don’t worry, I’m just in the study handling some work, not going out."
Hearing this, Miss Gu gave him a look of utter disdain, "Young Master Tang, can’t you not be so narcissistic? I just wanted to say, there must be a lot of books in your study. I want to grab one to read and pass the time!"
"You read books?"
"What else can I do? I can’t go out in this state, and there’s no piano at home, so I can’t practice. I can only hope your study has books for me to read."
Tang Yuxiu looked at her with thoughtful eyes.
Seeing he didn’t say anything, Gu Yan waved a hand in front of his eyes, "Boss, is it okay? Or is there some company secret in your study that’s inconvenient for me to see? Don’t worry, I’m not picky. You can give me two books, and I can read in the bedroom or the living room."
"Can your intelligence really handle reading my books?"
Tang Yuxiu was silent for a while before actually saying that, which almost drove Gu Yan crazy!
"Don’t underestimate people. I might not have other skills, nor have I read much, but my range of reading is quite wide. Ordinary books are a piece of cake for me, even more profound and difficult ones aren’t too much of a problem."
Gu Yan wasn’t boasting.
When she was studying, even though she often worked part-time and had less study time compared to others, her grades were always top-notch.
She was very smart, able to learn almost anything easily.
At that time, she had no choice but to drop out of school, which she regretted deeply. So whenever she had time, she would read books, various journals, famous works, and even notable foreign books. If she couldn’t understand something, she would look it up in a dictionary or self-study through Baidu. Over the years, she had read quite a lot and learned a lot too.
She always believed that one could avoid going to school, but couldn’t be without culture!
So she had always been enriching herself.
Tang Yuxiu knew about her past situation. After hearing her say this, he surprisingly didn’t refute anything and simply nodded, "Come upstairs with me."
Gu Yan’s eyes lit up. Seeing Tang Yuxiu stand up after speaking, she quickly followed, "Boss, are you really willing to share your books?"
"Doubting me is a very foolish thing." Tang Yuxiu snorted arrogantly.
In a good mood, Gu Yan didn’t mind his arrogance at all. Instead, she found that he was becoming more and more pleasing to the eye.
Tang Yuxiu’s study was just as she imagined, dominated by black; if the curtains weren’t opened, the whole room would be dark.
"Boss, why do you always use such oppressive colors? Aren’t you tired of facing it every day?"
"Simple, I’m used to it."
Okay, Gu Yan understood.
It seems like those cool rich bosses always like to use such monotonous and dark colors to decorate their homes.
I really don’t know why.
"All the books are over there. You can choose to read here or choose to go outside. It’s up to you, but don’t disturb my work."
Gu Yan straightened her back and even saluted him, "At your command!"
Tang Yuxiu’s lips slightly curved up, his eyes carrying a hint of a smile, "Go ahead."
Gu Yan nodded, then happily ran towards the massive and magnificent bookshelf. Tang Yuxiu looked at her lively back before heading to his desk to open his computer and start working.
Gu Yan scanned the books on the shelf and was pleasantly surprised to find that some of them were ones she had read before. She couldn’t help but feel proud, thinking she and Tang Yuxiu had some similar tastes and perspectives.
There were so many books on the shelf. Besides the ones Gu Yan had read, there were also books she had always wanted to read but couldn’t find and ones she had heard of but never seen.
She couldn’t help but exclaim that Tang Yuxiu indeed had a rich collection of books!
She picked a book she had wanted to read for a while. Turning around, she saw Tang Yuxiu focused on his work at the desk. Originally intending to go out, she thought for a moment and then headed for the sofa, lazily sitting down after taking off her shoes.
She felt that since they finally opened up to each other and understood each other’s feelings, they should try to create more time for solitude together.
Even if they were doing their own things now, just being in the same place, breathing the same air, doing nothing and saying nothing was great too.
Actually, many times, feelings develop subtly in such a quiet environment. You feel it’s very plain, but it unknowingly grows stronger.
Tang Yuxiu took a moment to glance at Gu Yan, who was casually sitting on the sofa and reading a book, a faint smile unconsciously appearing on his lips.
Even with such a plain interaction, he felt comfortable.
As long as it wasn’t like before, clearly under the same roof, yet not seeing each other, and even if they did, passing by each other like strangers, anything was fine.
This situation was something he hadn’t envisioned before today.
It turns out that opening up has such great benefits!
Making both of them happy and comfortable.
Gu Yan concentrated on her book, occasionally glancing up at Tang Yuxiu working at his desk while turning pages, feeling increasingly at ease and joyful inside.
This is really nice.
Tang Yuxiu handled his business, neither interfering with each other, yet they were extremely harmonious.
Looking at the computer screen, he and You Shuyang discussed the latest company situation and future development.
Because Gu Yan was there reading, Tang Yuxiu didn’t choose the most direct video chat, opting instead for typing.
In the quiet study, there was the occasional soft sound of Gu Yan turning pages and Tang Yuxiu’s rapid typing.
"Young Master, in recent years, a new listed company named Newcomer has rapidly risen in M Country. Now, its momentum rivals the world’s top hundred companies, developing too swiftly to underestimate."
Tang Yuxiu narrowed his eyes slightly, "Being able to develop so rapidly in M Country, they must have strength."
"Yes, I heard they intend to expand domestically soon. They have already sent people over to investigate, with Jiang City as their first choice."
"Do they intend to come to Jiang City and get a piece of the pie?"
"From the current situation, indeed. Newcomer primarily involves the real estate, entertainment, and jewelry industries. Their secondary operations are clothing, household goods, and medical services, which we can ignore. However, their main industries are the same as our Tang Family. If they come to Jiang City, we are bound to confront them."
"The Tang Family is deeply rooted in Jiang City, them wanting to grab a piece of the pie won’t be easy."
"That’s not wrong to say, but their strength is undeniable, so we still need to be cautious."
Tang Yuxiu paused, what You Shuyang said was correct, they indeed needed to be careful of this rapidly developing company.
"Who is their CEO?"
"I’ve checked, the CEO’s last name is Yan, a Chinese expat. The Yan family is a prominent family, but there’s another key player behind this company, even more influential than the one surnamed Yan. He should be the real owner of Newcomer. From the information I gathered, he’s only known by the surname Gu. This person seemingly appeared out of thin air, and there’s no detailed record in the M Country database."
Tang Yuxiu slightly frowned, surname Gu? He subconsciously looked at the girl opposite him who also shared the surname Gu.
