Chapter 267 Flying a Kite

Tongtong shook his head, "Although he scammed a lot of money, he couldn't use it for good. It'll be slowly spent in the hospital until all the money is gone, and his illness will still be incurable."

"He deserves it for doing such unscrupulous things to make money!" Liu Chunsheng felt a surge of satisfaction upon hearing this.

"From now on, Grandpa shouldn't blindly believe fortune tellers. They actually exploit your psychology to swindle your money. They'll tell you whatever you fear most, and whatever you desire. That's how they make you willing to pay," Tongtong said.

Liu Chunsheng nodded, "Grandpa understands. But Tongtong, you seem to know a lot. Can you tell me something about Grandpa?"

"Didn't Grandpa just teach you? Have you forgotten already? Fortune tellers prey on your curiosity and gradually trick you into revealing information. Do you believe everything I say without question?"

"Of course, you're my grandson. Who else would I believe?" Liu Chunsheng replied immediately.

"So, I could use Grandpa's trust to fool you, and Grandpa wouldn't even know!"

Liu Chunsheng was confused, "Does Tongtong not know how to tell fortunes, and just relies on trickery?"

Tongtong giggled, "Tongtong doesn't trick people. But one shouldn't tell fortunes randomly; the more you tell, the thinner your fortune becomes. Grandpa, don't ask so many questions. In any case, you'll definitely get better and better."

Hearing Tongtong say this, Liu Chunsheng felt relieved. As long as things weren't getting worse, it was fine.

Soon, they arrived at the outskirts, where the riverside was lined with lush green lawns.

There was also a small amusement park nearby, with an eighty-meter-high Ferris wheel being the most prominent structure, though it usually opened in the evening.

Since the children weren't in school today, there were many people. Many children were already flying kites.

Tongtong was eager to fly a kite too, so he urged Liu Yifeng, "Daddy, hurry!"

"Alright, alright!" Liu Yifeng opened the trunk and took out two kites that had been prepared in advance. He gave one to his father and one to Tongtong.

Liu Chunsheng looked at the kite in his hand with a troubled expression, "I've never flown one of these before. How do I play with it?"

"Dad, I'll teach Tongtong how to fly it, and you can learn by watching. It's very simple," Liu Yifeng said, and then began to teach Tongtong. First, he explained that one must fly the kite with the wind for it to take off.

Then, he instructed to slowly let out the line, not too fast or too slow, otherwise, it would easily fall.

The wind was strong enough today, so there was no need to run. The kite flew towards the sky just by letting out the line.

Liu Chunsheng watched attentively from the side, learning by example and flying his kite.

Soon, the kite flew to mid-air, and he began to walk in the direction the kite was moving, to avoid tangling with other kites.

Tongtong's dinosaur kite also flew high, which excited him greatly.

"Daddy, look! The kite is flying, higher and farther than everyone else's!"

"Tongtong's dinosaur kite is indeed the best. But Tongtong, you can't keep letting out line. If you let out too much, the kite will become uncontrollable and easily fall," Liu Yifeng reminded him as Tongtong kept releasing line, wanting the kite to fly higher and farther.

Tongtong then stopped letting out the line, "I understand, Daddy!"

Liu Yifeng turned to check on his father's kite and saw that his father had walked quite far away, following the kite. He smiled helplessly, "Tongtong, you stay here and fly your kite. Don't wander off. Daddy will go talk to Grandpa for a bit and come back!"

The reason he dared to let Tongtong out of his sight was that Tongtong was not an ordinary child; he could even take himself down. Ordinary people were no match for Tongtong. He was afraid that if he didn't go find his father, his father might walk right into the river.

"Daddy, go ahead. I'll wait for you here!" Tongtong said, his eyes fixed on the kite.

Liu Yifeng looked back at Tongtong repeatedly as he walked over to his father, "Dad, why did you fly the kite so far away?"

Liu Chunsheng was a bit embarrassed, "The kite kept moving this way, so I followed it."

"Dad, you don't need to walk around like this when flying a kite. You just need to move according to the wind. If the wind is light, you can let out more line, and if it's strong, reel it in a bit. Since there's wind, the kite will naturally drift. Just keep a distance from other kites," Liu Yifeng explained.

"I don't understand any of this. It's my first time flying a kite. Now I know. Hurry up and go watch Tongtong. There are many people around, be careful that Tongtong doesn't attract the attention of any bad guys," Liu Chunsheng urged.

"Alright, I'll go watch Tongtong. Dad, don't keep staring at the kite. If you take a few more steps forward, you'll be in the water."

After hearing his son's words, Liu Chunsheng looked down and indeed saw that he was very close to the water's edge. He quickly pulled the kite back several steps.

Liu Yifeng then started to walk back. But as he turned, his heart tightened. Tongtong was gone. He quickly looked around but couldn't see Tongtong anywhere. He had only been talking to his father for a few moments. How far could such a small child have gone? A premonition of something bad struck him. Just as he was about to search anxiously, a familiar voice sounded from behind him, "Daddy, what are you looking at?"

Liu Yifeng immediately turned around and saw Tongtong holding the kite with its broken line, looking up at him. Seeing his son unharmed, Liu Yifeng almost shed tears. He had been so scared he almost fainted. Fortunately, Tongtong was fine. If anything had happened to Tongtong, he would never have forgiven himself.

"Tongtong, didn't Daddy tell you to stay put and fly your kite? Why did you come behind Daddy? Daddy was so scared, thinking you were lost."

Tongtong lowered his head guiltily, "Daddy, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to come behind you."

"Silly child, it's good that you're alright!" Liu Yifeng couldn't bear to see Tongtong blame himself and gently patted his head.

"Daddy, the kite broke!" Tongtong handed the kite line to Liu Yifeng.

"What kind of cheap kite is this? How did it break so easily?" Liu Yifeng grumbled, looking at the broken line. He had specifically chosen a good quality kite, fearing it would break, yet the quality turned out to be so terrible. He vowed to confront the seller. Selling cheap kites while claiming the best quality was no different from the scammer who told fortunes to his father.

Fortunately, there were kite sellers nearby. He gently took Tongtong's hand, "Come on, Daddy will buy you a new one. Pick any pattern you like."

"What about this one?" Tongtong held up the kite line and handle.

"Give this to Daddy. I'll find a trash can to throw it away later," Liu Yifeng said, taking it. After the scare of almost losing his son, Liu Yifeng no longer dared to let Tongtong out of his sight.

"Sir, want to buy a kite? Cheap prices!" a middle-aged woman selling kites called out.
