"Dad, the weather hasn't been very good recently, so Wanru thinks she can help deliver for these few days," Liu Yifeng told Liu Chunsheng about their discussion.
Liu Chunsheng didn't say anything, just nodded in understanding and turned back to his room.
Liu Yifeng let out a long sigh, checked the time, and then went to work.
It had to be said, the company was indeed very busy lately with all sorts of contracts and even other programs constantly seeking him out, which truly gave him a headache.
Back at the company, Lu Fei was already waiting by the office door.
"You're finally here. Go take a look at the sheds quickly," Lu Fei said, his expression grim, indicating the situation wasn't good.
Liu Yifeng didn't say a word, put down what he was holding, and followed him to the sheds.
Upon arrival, everyone was actively dealing with the accumulated water, and many of the sheds had already been submerged.
"What's going on!" Liu Yifeng was a bit anxious. He rolled up his sleeves and joined the staff in dealing with the situation, recalling that their waterproofing was done very well.
There had been rain before, but never like this. Why was it so severe this time? He found it incredibly baffling.
"I don't know either. They only told me this morning when I came to work. The water must have accumulated last night," Lu Fei replied.
Lu Fei also helped. The heavy rain was still falling, and they were braving the downpour to rescue the vegetables in the sheds, but it seemed to have little effect.
"No, this won't do. I need to go see what's causing this accumulation," Liu Yifeng said, completely soaked.
Anxiously, he went to check the waterproofing switches under each shed. Some sheds were closed, and the vegetables inside were completely ruined. Others were open, and the vegetables in those sheds were perfectly fine.
Liu Yifeng then inspected each shed one by one. Only after checking all of them did he feel relieved and went to help everyone deal with the standing water.
It seemed to be a massive undertaking. Even after the water was cleared, the vegetables inside had suffered damage to varying degrees.
The entire day, he and Lu Fei worked with the staff to clear the water. By evening, it still wasn't completely gone.
It had rained all day. Although it was a drizzle in the afternoon, it significantly hampered their progress.
"What can be done? Look at these vegetables that have been submerged; they've lost all their vitality and are certainly inedible," it was truly a pity.
This incident happened so suddenly that Liu Yifeng couldn't even begin to think of a solution. For now, they could only clear the water from the sheds before considering the next steps.
"The rain keeps falling. The most important thing right now is to deal with the water accumulation. If this problem isn't solved, it will definitely happen again, perhaps even worse. I've checked the weather forecast; it's going to rain for the next few days. I'm worried our photosynthesis peppers might also be affected," Liu Yifeng voiced his concerns during a break.
Lu Fei also appeared very worried. It seemed this was a truly thorny problem.
"It's so strange. What do you think caused this? It used to rain before, and we never had such issues," Lu Fei frowned, unable to fathom the cause. Perhaps none of them had anticipated such a crisis arising from the rain.
"Let's not think too much about it for now. Let's finish clearing the water, and then we'll tackle this problem in detail," Liu Yifeng said, rolling up his sleeves again.
Lu Fei said no more, deciding they could only deal with the immediate issue first. If they didn't, even more vegetables might be ruined.
It wasn't until ten o'clock at night that the water in the sheds was mostly dealt with. Although it was still raining, significant accumulation was unlikely.
However, the switches for the waterproofing were still in the open position. Why were those few left open? Was it done intentionally?
Liu Yifeng hadn't discussed this with Lu Fei yet. He couldn't figure out who else would know about the waterproofing switches.
"It's very late. You should go home. You have Tongtong waiting for you. I'll handle the follow-up work here," he said, acknowledging that the employees had worked overtime today.
Around nine o'clock, Liu Yifeng had already let them go home. Since some staff members lived far away, it was better for them to return early.
Liu Chunsheng also wanted to stay, but it was too late, so Liu Yifeng didn't let him.
"You go home too. We'll deal with it tomorrow. You've worked hard today," he said, giving Lu Fei a hug. They parted ways and headed home.
When Liu Yifeng arrived home, Tongtong had already fallen asleep. Since he had called ahead to say he would be back late, Tongtong hadn't waited up for him.
"How are things at the sheds?" Liu Chunsheng, who had been worried, eagerly inquired about the sheds upon seeing Liu Yifeng.
This seemed to be the first time such a thing had happened, and it looked quite troublesome.
"Nothing major. The water accumulation today is mostly dealt with. It was mainly a problem with the switches not being adjusted properly. Don't worry too much; go get some rest," Liu Yifeng said, trying to comfort Liu Chunsheng, who looked worried.
Worrying further wouldn't help much. Losses had already occurred. They could only focus on finding ways to minimize them.
The next day, Liu Yifeng left early. Tongtong didn't even see him when he woke up, feeling a little disappointed.
"How are the sheds?" Liu Yifeng had gone to the sheds before coming here. He saw that there was no longer any standing water. Although it was still raining, the water accumulation wasn't significant.
This suggested the issue was with the waterproofing system's switches.
"I checked this morning. You must have known yesterday that some waterproofing switches were open and some were closed. But we tested this before, and it shouldn't have caused water accumulation. Why did it fail this time?"
Lu Fei had also arrived very early today. He had thought about it all night and couldn't figure out what went wrong. So, he came early to inspect the waterproofing switches. It seemed the problem was related to them.
When he discovered this, he realized Liu Yifeng likely knew yesterday but hadn't said anything, probably not wanting him to worry too much, especially since he was in charge of the switches.
