Chapter 659 The Brilliant Star

"Tong Tong," he said, looking at her, "how about we give Grandpa Zhao a rainbow-colored fruit basket?"

Tong Tong's eyes lit up. "Sure! But we should also nourish the fruits for Teacher with nutrient and growth agents for a few days first! I feel these fruits don't taste as good as the watermelons Dad grows!"

Liu Yifeng heard Tong Tong's words. "Yes, you're right. Even if they look unusual, the taste needs to be improved too!"

Liu Yifeng then bought seven different kinds of fruits, enough to make up the colors of the rainbow: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet.

He then met up with Liu Chunsheng, and they set off by car to head home.

Meanwhile, Su Wanru had arranged to have a meal with Yun Duoer.

The two sisters sat down, and while waiting for the waiter to serve their food, Su Wanru asked, "Duoer, how have you been lately?"

Yun Duoer sat up straight, her fingertips tracing patterns on the table. Her gaze flickered towards Su Wanru, then she lowered her head, feigning dejection, but with a forced air of nonchalance. "Just the usual. A bit busy, and there have been a few bumps along the road."

Su Wanru heard Yun Duoer's words and observed her expression. Just as Yun Duoer had anticipated, Su Wanru immediately asked with concern, "Duoer, what kind of problems have you encountered with your work?"

Yun Duoer deliberately and abruptly changed the subject. She picked up her cutlery, scooped some food, and said to Su Wanru, "I'm fine. The dishes you chose this time are quite delicious!"

Seeing this, Su Wanru's heart ached even more. She wanted to be good to her sister, to make amends.

As sharp as Su Wanru was, she understood that Yun Duoer was in trouble and was seeking her help. She also knew that Yun Duoer was deliberately acting this way.

But Su Wanru couldn't let it go. Her voice grew more anxious, her gaze increasingly sincere. She said to Yun Duoer, "Duoer, I want to help you. Please believe me."

As she spoke, Su Wanru reached out to take Yun Duoer's hand, but Yun Duoer subtly pulled away.

Yun Duoer slightly lowered her head, tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, a glint of smug satisfaction flashing in her eyes. She then looked up and said to Su Wanru with a troubled expression, "It's not really a big problem, just that I made a mistake, and now it's affecting the company's work assignments for me."

Su Wanru felt that Duoer was just trying to comfort her. She said, "Duoer, tell me. As the saying goes, 'To err is human.' Even if you've encountered trouble due to a small mistake, as your sister, I have an obligation to help you in any way I can."

Only then did Yun Duoer reluctantly continue, "Do you remember me participating in the show 'The Brain'?"

Su Wanru smiled. "Of course, I remember! If it weren't for your participation in that show, I might not have met you."

Su Wanru fell into a reverie and continued, "Your performance on 'The Brain' is still vivid in my memory! You were so radiant on stage, nothing like your former self! I'm truly proud to have a sister like you. At such a young age, you've achieved so much through your own efforts!"

Yun Duoer smiled. "It seems you really approve of my current achievements. I'm so happy!"

Yun Duoer paused, then continued with a touch of enthusiasm, "But I feel I can do even better! My ambition isn't just to participate in shows like that. I want to stand on the international stage and become the most dazzling star in the world!"

"Duoer, as your sister, I wholeheartedly support this aspiration! While you've achieved a great deal, it's merely a small step towards your current goals!"

Yun Duoer heard Su Wanru finally get to the point. "Yes, Sister, you're absolutely right. That's why I desperately need your strength now!"

Su Wanru frowned, curious. "My strength? I don't know any entertainment company CEOs, nor any famous international stars. What kind of strength do I have to help you?"

Yun Duoer seemed incredulous at Su Wanru's words. She continued, "Sister, please don't play coy. You've managed to become the vice president of Hundred Fruit Garden. I don't believe you have no influence. Are you really unwilling to help me?"

She stood up from her seat and slammed the table. "I knew it! You sent me away when I was so young, gave me to others to raise. What's changed now that you've found me? You're just saying things, all false affection!"

Seeing Yun Duoer getting angry, Su Wanru quickly said, "No! Duoer! I sincerely wanted you back, and Mom and Dad want to see you again too!"

She also stood up, wanting to take Yun Duoer's hand, and said earnestly, "Duoer, I'm just the vice president of a fruit company. I really can't help you!"

Yun Duoer subtly dodged Su Wanru's attempt to grab her, feigning tears. "Sister, if even you can't help me, then as a small celebrity with no backing, my career will end here! And after I caused such a scene with Tong Tong, Liu Yifeng, and his son, what will become of me in the future?"

As she spoke, tears welled up in her eyes and dripped down one by one. However, a barely perceptible smile played on her lips, hidden by her hand. With a voice clearly laced with feigned sobs, she cried to Su Wanru, "Sister, I'm not getting any younger, and I can't afford to wait for other opportunities! Besides, Tong Tong and I can no longer acknowledge each other, and it's all because of Liu Yifeng! Tong Tong only knows his father and doesn't recognize his mother."

As she continued, Yun Duoer's voice seemed to gain a touch of genuine emotion. "Sister, my career is about to be over, my child doesn't recognize me, and I have no family anymore!"

"Wuwuwu!"

She lifted her tear-streaked face, her eyes slightly red, and looked at Su Wanru. "Sister, can you bear to see me end up like this?"

Su Wanru, looking at the distraught Yun Duoer, said with a heavy heart, "Duoer! Don't say that. I am your sister! How could I bear to see you in such a predicament! I will definitely help you. Just tell me what you need me to do, and I'll do it!"

Upon hearing this, Yun Duoer knew Su Wanru had finally relented. She stopped crying and said with delight, "Sister! I knew you would be good to me! Your desire to reunite with me is also sincere!"
