As soon as he arrived, he saw Yun Duoer, heavily bundled up, looking around. Seeing no one, she opened the car door and got in. Then, a commercial vehicle blocked their way.
It was likely arranged by Yun Duoer. It seemed being a celebrity wasn't easy; she couldn't even travel normally.
"Don't worry, I've arranged everything. I learned this trick of 'deaf ear" from you," Yun Duoer said with little expression. Because of her excellent maintenance, the collagen on her face was well-preserved, and her skin was very fair.
He had seen this woman before, which only showed how much celebrities valued facial upkeep. If he hadn't known she was a big star he'd seen on TV, Liu Yifeng truly wouldn't have realized they had a connection, finding it almost unbelievable.
"Speak, the sooner the better for all of us." Since she had initiated the meeting, she must have something she wanted him to know. So, he just had to listen attentively. The sooner it ended, the sooner it was over. Her mysteriousness was indeed making him quite nervous.
"I've considered what you told me when you called earlier. Perhaps you're right. Someone has started investigating me, and incidentally, they found you and even implicated Tongtong. I'm very sorry. But I don't know who it is yet. I wanted to talk to you in person because I trust you and believe you won't let Tongtong's true parentage be revealed to everyone, will you?"
In reality, her current benefactor had developed intentions towards her. She couldn't afford any scandals at this time. The reason she sought out Liu Yifeng was to ask him to protect Tongtong.
This was her prime time for advancement, and she couldn't let a child derail her hard-earned career.
"Truly heartless. Fine, I understand. I thought you missed Tongtong and wanted me to find an opportunity to bring her to see you. I never expected it was because you were afraid Tongtong's appearance would ruin you, and instead, you want me to keep Tongtong hidden more securely. It's just like when you gave Tongtong to me without a word back then."
Liu Yifeng's words were filled with sadness, even a hint of sarcasm. He had known she was this kind of woman all along and shouldn't have held any illusions.
"Think whatever you want. I've said what I needed to say. I'll say it again: protect Tongtong well." After speaking, she glanced around and got out of the car, then boarded the commercial vehicle in front, effectively pulling off a diversion.
Watching the commercial vehicle drive away, Liu Yifeng let out a cold laugh. How could there be such a heartless mother in the world? He was instead somewhat glad that she had sent Tongtong to his care.
Regarding Tongtong's safety, he wouldn't need anyone to tell him; he would do everything in his power to ensure it.
"Why are you here so late?" After leaving Yun Duoer, Liu Yifeng went to the Su family's residence. Considering the late hour, he called Su Wanru and asked her to come down.
Su Wanru was puzzled, assuming it must be something important he needed to discuss with her.
"I just met with Yun Duoer. She asked me to protect Tongtong. It seems someone is investigating her affairs, so I think we shouldn't rush Tongtong's schooling for now. We can consider it later or perhaps find a new place."
Although he disliked Yun Duoer's words, her taking the risk to meet him today suggested she knew those people were aware of everything. Therefore, he felt they needed to be cautious in the coming days.
Su Wanru was taken aback. "Okay, no problem. I can look into other schools. The recent public opinion is indeed very unfavorable to Tongtong's current schooling. Your consideration is correct."
Liu Yifeng said no more and left after bidding farewell. Su Wanru, however, found it hard to sleep. She felt it was necessary to meet with Yun Duoer.
She had always felt guilty towards her sister and wanted to take good care of Tongtong, hoping to make amends for her shortcomings towards her sister through Tongtong.
The next day.
Liu Chasheng arrived at the organic vegetable greenhouse. It was probably his first time in such a luxurious greenhouse, and he immediately felt it was very sophisticated.
"Yifeng, this is much harder than raising crayfish. Can I do it?" Liu Chasheng looked at the busy figures and felt a bit nervous.
Liu Yifeng smiled. "It's okay, Third Uncle. They didn't know anything at first either. Besides, this doesn't require much technical skill. You just need to be able to operate the machines properly. It's very simple; I'll teach you once, and you'll pretty much get it."
He seemed to be shocked by the luxury of the greenhouse, which was why he was so nervous, as if seeing his Third Uncle for the first time when he saw so many crayfish seedlings.
Liu Chasheng was still nervous. This was his first time seeing such a spectacular scene, and it was natural for him to doubt himself.
"Third Uncle, there's really no need to be nervous. This place will be under your responsibility from now on, so you must show your leadership. Familiarize yourself with the process here first." Liu Yifeng led him to a small office in the back of the greenhouse and gave him a document detailing the entire process for all organic crops.
Since he understood nothing, Liu Chasheng read it very carefully. Liu Yifeng knew that entrusting this matter to him was the best choice.
The greenhouse matter was also almost resolved. Although Liu Chasheng was nervous at first, he gradually got the hang of it and no longer felt tense, just like when he first started the crayfish industry.
The sun was shining brightly this day, making for excellent weather that lifted everyone's spirits.
A woman dressed gorgeously, with a good figure and sunglasses, appeared at the coffee shop.
"Speak, what do you want with me?"
Due to her public profile, Su Wanru chose a relatively secluded spot. Moreover, this coffee shop was membership-based, with only members able to make reservations daily, and a maximum of twenty reservations per day, thus ensuring good privacy.
"Did you go to see Liu Yifeng?" Su Wanru still cared a lot about her sister. However, her sister might have some misunderstanding about the entire Su family. She couldn't explain, nor was it easy to explain. Even if she were to explain, she suspected her sister would think it was a lie.
Yun Duoer frowned. "Are you two really together as the tabloids claim, and also raising my son for me?"
She deflected the question, took off her glasses, and spoke with disbelief.
"You know I couldn't possibly do such a thing. I just think you went to see Liu Yifeng to put pressure on him. He's taking very good care of Tongtong, and even wants Tongtong to maintain contact with the Su family."
Su Wanru just wanted to speak up for Liu Yifeng and, at the same time, wanted to know who was investigating her. If there was anything she could do to help, she would certainly be willing. She also felt that this matter might cause Yun Duoer to be hounded by scandals, which was why she was so keen to investigate clearly.
However, Yun Duoer's words were all laced with barbs, and she didn't know how to continue the conversation.
"Yes, he's a good person, so I'm the bad person? Since you've already decided I'm the bad person, why are you still here to talk to me?" Yun Duoer tidied herself up and was about to leave but was stopped by Su Wanru.
To avoid attracting too much attention, she reluctantly sat down.
