"Hehe," Yang Chuxia laughed again when she heard him say this. She opened up the two letters from the County Magistrate and asked, "Brother An, should we send the recommendation letters to the academy in advance?"
"Yes," Ye Zi’an nodded, "Send them to the academy first, along with any other fees. The academy will distribute books, uniforms, and other necessities before telling you which day to start classes. On that day, all students must wear the academy’s uniform to enter."
"I see, let’s go to the academy tomorrow then," Yang Chuxia decided.
"Alright!"
The next day was a pleasantly cool autumn day. Yang Chuxia and Ye Zi’an went to the academy to handle the enrollment of their younger brothers and confirmed that they would return to school in five days.
Upon leaving the school, Yang Chuxia thought about the young boy they sent to the medical clinic last time and said to Ye Zi’an, "Brother An, let’s go to Mu’s Clinic to see how that little boy is doing."
"Sure!"
When they arrived at Mu’s Clinic, they found it unusually quiet with hardly any patients. The young attendants inside were focused on their own tasks and not talking.
"Is Manager Mu here?" Seeing the situation, Yang Chuxia couldn’t help but lower her voice.
Hearing her question, Manager Mu popped his head out from behind the large counter.
"Miss Yang! What can I do for you today?" Manager Mu’s voice seemed somewhat listless.
Yang Chuxia looked at him suspiciously and said, "We sent a boy here last time, remember? We came to see how he’s doing." She gestured to the items she brought with her.
Seeing what looked like supplements and other goodies, Manager Mu’s gloomy mood lightened a bit. He thought that this girl had a kind heart, even taking the time to visit and bring gifts to a stranger. She was the kind of person worth befriending.
"To be honest, our young master is currently treating the boy, and his condition isn’t very good. The young master is in a bad mood because of it," Manager Mu said quietly.
"Young Master Mu is here?" They hadn’t seen Mu Shaoling since he returned to the capital, and they thought that he wouldn’t be back in Quanya for a while. But here he was.
It seemed that the boy’s identity might be more complicated than they thought.
"That’s right, he’s been here for a few days, treating the boy," Manager Mu confirmed.
Upon hearing this, Yang Chuxia asked, "So everyone here is keeping quiet because he’s angry?"
Manager Mu nodded reluctantly but still said, "Miss Yang, Young Master Ye, please wait for a moment while I report to our Young Master."
Yang Chuxia nodded in agreement, understanding that they should at least meet Mu Shaoling since they knew he was here. They also wanted to ask him about his investigation in the capital.
Shortly after, Manager Mu returned and led Yang Chuxia and Ye Zi’an upstairs.
"Since you’re already here, come inside instead of just standing at the door. Are you waiting for me to invite you in?" Mu Shaoling’s annoyed voice came from behind the door as they approached.
Tsk, judging by his tone, they could tell how irritable Mu Shaoling was right now. But then again, when hasn’t he been irritable? He’s pretty much always like this, isn’t he?
Yang Chuxia pushed the door open and chuckled, "Young Master Mu, it’s been a while! How have you been?"
"Hmph, I’ve been as suave and handsome as ever," Mu Shaoling snorted, glancing at her before continuing, "But you? You’re getting uglier by the day. Just look at that hideous laugh of yours."
