Chapter 350: Chapter 350: The Hawthorne Family Little Prince
"Innocent child, even a three-year-old understands this, what, Mrs. Hawthorne, are you not even as sensible as a three-year-old, only knowing how to use a child’s life to threaten me?"
"Didn’t you ask if I dare to admit it? Ha, what do I have to fear? This is my son, the son I cherished like a treasure, born after ten months of pregnancy!"
"If not for the concern of sullying my son’s eyes, what you’d be facing now wouldn’t be just a slap, but the lethal Golden Needle!"
Her words were sharp, her gaze seemingly murderous, terrifying Cyrus, Laura, and Harold into not daring to act rashly.
How could Laura allow Ann Vaughn to insult her like this? Deep down, she still retained that years-old arrogance towards Ann Vaughn.
But to be so fiercely countered back now, and in front of so many people, was unbearable!
"You dare to hit me? You bitch!!" Laura’s face twisted terrifyingly, she instinctively grabbed the vase from the table beside her and threw it at Ann Vaughn!
Ann Vaughn’s expression changed, reflexively pulling Kenny into her embrace, shielding his head tightly with her arms.
But just as she tried to evade, she found the vase in Laura’s hand already swooping towards her face, leaving her no place to escape!
Ann Vaughn closed her eyes abruptly, and in the next second, the sound of shattering exploded in her ear, as powerful arms enveloped her and Kenny tightly.
The pain she imagined didn’t come.
Ann Vaughn’s heart trembled, and she opened her eyes wide to look up, only to see Cyrus Hawthorne’s tightly pressed pale lips and the thin layer of sweat seeping from his forehead.
His expression was calm and cool, like the eve of a storm, with a black storm brewing in his long, dark eyes, making one shiver.
Yet when his gaze touched Ann Vaughn’s astonished look, it softened imperceptibly.
"Leave this to me, you and Kenny wait in the car."
"No." Ann Vaughn shook her head, "I want to stay and resolve this matter."
"Annie, be obedient." Cyrus’ brows furrowed, his sharp eyes unwilling to let her remain in this dangerous place.
"But..." Ann Vaughn bit her lip lightly, her eyes fixed on his shoulder that still bore some vase fragments, and her grip on Kenny tightened slightly.
This man, is he stupid? Using his body to shield her from the vase.
Before she could make a decision, Laura, who had been startled by hitting Cyrus, regained her composure, looking at the scene before her with the utmost hatred.
"Cyrus, you’re just in time! You didn’t see how this bitch hit me just now, she..."
"Shut up!" Cyrus turned sideways, his sharp eyes glaring at Laura, "Mother, you should recognize one thing: Ann Vaughn is my wife, the mistress of the Hawthorne Family. You have no right to insult her at will!"
Laura sneered, "The mistress of the Hawthorne Family? Is she worthy? Don’t forget you’re already divorced! This woman approaches you with a bastard child, she has ulterior motives! Look at who’s in her arms, that’s the bastard!"
Cyrus’ face became stern, especially as he listened to Laura repeatedly call Kenny a bastard, his patience utterly exhausted.
"You call my son a bastard? Then let me ask you, what does that make me?" His lips lifted slightly, revealing a cold and murderous gleam in his eyes.
Ann Vaughn, standing behind, not allowed to step forward, looked at him in shock, her red lips moving but unable to utter a word.
Had he heard everything she said earlier?
Would he be angry she hid it for so long without ever telling him?
He surely would, right?
Just the thought dimmed Ann Vaughn’s eyes.
But when Cyrus’ next words came, they truly shook Laura and Harold.
"You’re willing to acknowledge another man’s son for this woman? Cyrus, you’re crazy!" Clara showed disappointment, shaking her head, "How can you lead Hawthorne Corp. forward like this?"
"How I lead Hawthorne Corp. is not your concern," Cyrus’ demeanor was cold, giving Clara no face at all.
Clara’s face turned blue, unable to say another word.
Seeing her failure, Harold and Charlotte dared not intervene, fearing this young yet powerful nephew.
"I can tell you’re bewitched by this woman! I will never allow her into our family again, nor will I accept that bastard!" Laura exclaimed harshly, as if wishing to devour Ann Vaughn.
"Enough!" With a doctor’s help, Old Master Hawthorne finally caught his breath, one hand rubbing his chest, the other pointing at Kenny, questioning Laura, "Are you blind, being Cyrus’ mother and all?"
Laura was momentarily confused, "Dad, why, why are you accusing me?"
"Look closely at this child! Look carefully!" Old Master Hawthorne extended his hand to Ann Vaughn.
Ann Vaughn hesitated for a moment, but knowing Old Master Hawthorne wouldn’t harm Kenny, she handed him over.
The moment Old Master Hawthorne held the little dumpling, his anger vanished, his face blossoming into a fond smile, as he happily weighed him.
"This child, just like Cyrus as a child, is cut from the same mold. I raised Cyrus myself, would I mistake it?"
This was also why he said nothing earlier, only asked to see the child.
Just from the profile so much like Cyril, he could tell this was undoubtedly Cyrus’ child.
What?!!
Old Master Hawthorne’s words were like a muffled thunder, exploding in the living room.
Leaving Laura, Harold, and Clara in a daze, their eyes wide as they looked at the baby in Old Master Hawthorne’s arms.
Ann Vaughn’s supposed bastard with another man... how could he be the Hawthorne’s glittering little prince?!
This was simply impossible!
But coming from Old Master Hawthorne, it must be true, as he valued bloodlines too much to mistake another’s child for their own!
Harold and the others turned to the stunned Laura, feeling a surge of absurdity.
Meaning—
Clearly the little prince of the Hawthorne Family, yet pointed at by his own grandmother and called a bastard, it was absurd and despicable!
Harold was the first to react, hastily leaving with an excuse, not sparing Laura another glance.
On the other side, Clara and Charlotte quickly understood his intent, realizing with the truth out, they, as Laura’s supporters, were better off leaving than facing Cyrus’ reckoning.
So they each made an excuse to leave, avoiding accountability.
Who could have thought that Laura, already seemingly victorious, nearly driving Ann Vaughn away, would face such an unexpected reversal at the last moment?
The Hawthorne family today, it seems, is about to change.
