Chapter 347: Chapter 347: Kenny Is Taken Away
"Additionally, let me remind you, the crime you’ve committed is enough to keep you behind bars for a few years."
Rubbish!
If it weren’t for others being around, Cynthia would have long lost concern for her image and torn into Ann Vaughn with ferocious words!
She refused to believe that Ann Vaughn could take her down just with these little threats!
"I advise you to wise up, return what should be returned, and withdraw what should be withdrawn. Miss Vaughn is kind and soft-hearted, but President Hawthorne is not," Mark Joyce warned Cynthia, pressing his black earpiece.
Kind and soft-hearted?
Ann Vaughn couldn’t help touching her nose. Was he talking about her? She was quite skeptical about that.
With those words, the malice in Cynthia’s eyes nearly overflowed, almost piercing Ann Vaughn’s face with her gaze.
However, while the Sheridan Family dared to antagonize Ann Vaughn, they dared not challenge Cyrus Hawthorne, who stood behind her.
Still, the thought of handing over those incredibly effective medicines left Cynthia unwilling.
Why did Grandpa leave everything to Ann Vaughn before he passed away? She was also his granddaughter, so why should her share be taken by Ann Vaughn?
If she had all the ancient medical texts and formulas left by Grandpa, how could Ann Vaughn possibly surpass her?
Filled with indignation, Cynthia completely forgot that years ago, Grandpa Vaughn had mentioned leaving some traditional medicine books and prescriptions to her. At that time, she agreed verbally but said behind the scenes,
"I don’t want those lowly things. Whoever wants them can have them!"
Thus, Grandpa Vaughn saw that this granddaughter had been spoiled by her parents and concluded that giving them to her would be a waste, so he gave up on the idea.
"The medicines were all consumed long ago, can’t return them!" Cynthia snorted coldly, calculating the value of those items.
"Consumed? Fine then," sensing Cynthia’s evasion, Ann Vaughn said unceremoniously, "The total value of those medicines and incense balls is three million, please settle the bill immediately."
Hearing this price, Cynthia’s face turned green, "Are you extorting me?!"
"So what if it’s extortion? Just try not paying if you dare!" Relying on the bodyguards behind her, Ann Vaughn was not backing down.
No matter what Cynthia consumed, today she would make sure it was all brought forth!
Ten minutes later.
Holding the check as she exited The Snowbell Clinic, Ann Vaughn clicked her tongue twice, thinking about Cynthia’s previous expression of extreme pain, feeling like she could have an extra bowl of rice tonight.
A few million might not be much to the Sheridan Family’s lady, but depending on who the recipient was, it was clear how uncomfortable Cynthia was.
"This card has the money for you to distribute to everyone, thank them for coming today to support me," Ann Vaughn handed a card to Mark Joyce, speaking as she did.
"No, Miss Vaughn, they were just doing their job, there’s no need for such politeness," Mark Joyce quickly refused, shaking his head profusely.
"I know you all came because of Cyrus Hawthorne’s orders, but this bonus is yours, and it has nothing to do with him, it’s from me," Ann Vaughn said in a light tone, "There’s also a share for Special Assistant Joyce in there."
Unable to withstand her insistence, Mark Joyce had no choice but to accept the card, feeling almost on the verge of tears.
If the BOSS found out about this, they probably wouldn’t even be able to step out of the training room.
Ann Vaughn, however, didn’t think much about it. Considering the uncertain nature of her relationship with Cyrus Hawthorne, she felt a bit uneasy using his resources without concern.
"Briar, wait for me—"
A particularly catchy sound suddenly came from Ann Vaughn’s phone, and a hint of confusion appeared on Mark Joyce’s face.
Could this kind of music be popular right now?
When he had previously helped the BOSS investigate the daily "videos" sent to his computer and phone, this background music was the most common.
Moreover, the video content was always diverse and unexpected, showcasing the mastermind’s imaginative tricks.
It was hard on him, as he spent an entire night tortured by that music in an attempt to find its origin online, to no avail.
Unexpectedly, he hear it on Ann Vaughn’s phone...
Unaware that her ringtone had aroused Mark Joyce’s suspicion, Ann Vaughn answered the call, only to hear someone panting heavily, "What’s up Sherry? You sound exhausted?"
"Just... just now, I went to the kindergarten to deliver clothes for Kenny, but the teacher asked if it wasn’t a relative who had already picked him up!" Sherry panted anxiously, sounding extremely eager.
"What did you say?!" Ann Vaughn’s face turned white with panic, almost losing control, "What relative?!"
Instinctively, she turned around to glance at The Snowbell Clinic behind her. If Cynthia was coming out, she would definitely see her.
Besides, Cynthia had been in her sight just now, so doing anything rash was impossible, although it couldn’t be ruled out as pre-arrangements!
Thinking of this, Ann Vaughn’s eyes blazed with fire as she began to storm back into The Snowbell Clinic.
"They said the relative’s last name is Quinn, a madam who frequently appears in newspapers, so the teacher didn’t question it!"
Quinn? A madam?
A sudden image of Laura Quinn’s scornful face appeared in Ann Vaughn’s mind, and her slender body shook violently.
If Kenny ended up in her hands—
"Special Assistant Joyce, please take me to The Hawthorne Residence!"
Although Mark Joyce didn’t know what was happening, hearing the tremor in Ann Vaughn’s voice, he guessed that something major had occurred.
He immediately got in the car, using a spare moment to send a message to Cyrus Hawthorne’s phone.
Seated close to the car window, Ann Vaughn was so anxious that her vision swam, causing her to break the skin of her palms without realizing it, unknowingly missing the small action Mark Joyce took.
With a group of bodyguards leading the way, it didn’t take long to reach The Hawthorne Residence.
However, after Ann Vaughn inquired with the guards, she found out that Laura Quinn wasn’t there but had gone to Cloudmere Manor!
Mark Joyce made a U-turn and headed to Cloudmere Manor, comforting Ann Vaughn, "Don’t worry, Miss Vaughn, if there’s no traffic it’ll be a quick drive."
Ann Vaughn clamped her jaws tightly yet could not ease her tension, feeling as if she were sitting on pins and needles.
She couldn’t bear to imagine Kenny being brought away, alone by a stranger’s side, or what Laura Quinn might be doing to him in the meantime.
If Laura Quinn knew from the beginning that Kenny was her son, considering how she loathed her, there’s no way she’d treat Kenny kindly!
Overwhelmed by intense fear, Ann Vaughn failed to notice that the phone in her bag kept persistently ringing, unable to catch her distracted attention.
With Cloudmere Manor being a considerable distance from the city center, even with a fast speed, they took nearly an hour to get there.
