Chapter 358: Sleepless From Missing You

Chapter 358: Chapter 358: Sleepless From Missing You

"The Sheridan Family has considerable influence in The Imperial Capital, and most of the guests we’ve invited have business connections with them. I’m worried that the grand opening the day after tomorrow might... Should we consider delaying it?"

But that’s not the worst outcome. Opposing the Sheridan Family will only harm the Vaughn Clinic.

After listening to Sherry, Ann Vaughn’s eyes were calm, but there was a slight chill in her smile, "No need, proceed with the opening as planned. Prepare everything as usual; it will be needed."

"But..."

"Don’t worry. The more the Snowbell Clinic acts like this, the more it proves they are afraid of us. Since that’s the case, what do we have to fear?"

Seeing that Ann Vaughn had made up her mind, Sherry sighed and furrowed her brows in silent worry.

It’s not that she didn’t trust Ann Vaughn’s ability, but she knew better the extent of the Sheridan Family’s influence.

Even if the Vaughn Clinic could open smoothly, under the Sheridan Family’s suppression, the fame of "Doctor Aquarelle" would still struggle against a big family’s deliberate oppression.

"How about calling the eldest young master? If he steps in, maybe the issue can be resolved," Sherry suggested again.

Ann Vaughn had considered this approach, but after all, there’s a distinction between close and distant relations.

No matter what, Cynthia Sheridan is still a daughter of the Sheridan Family. Eli Sheridan certainly wouldn’t choose to put his own sister in an awkward position for her sake.

She didn’t want to drain years of their relationship over such a trivial matter.

Compared to Sherry’s anxious worry, Ann Vaughn was far less concerned and wasn’t affected by the Sheridan Family’s pressure.

Soon it was Friday, and the Vaughn Clinic opened as scheduled.

Not far away on the street, a champagne-colored Bentley was parked early, with the rear window lowered just enough to see the situation at the Vaughn Clinic.

"Bella, I’ve already instructed Howard Larkin that those who have business with our family won’t offend us for the sake of a newly opened small clinic."

Cynthia Sheridan gazed towards the Vaughn Clinic, a hint of smugness on her unveiled face.

The scars on her face had faded significantly, but due to excessive cosmetic surgery, any slightly exaggerated facial expression looked rather eerie.

Jane Sheridan sat with her arms crossed on the other side, chin raised slightly, her eyes cold.

Hearing Cynthia Sheridan’s words, her expression softened a bit, "It’s not in vain that Father lent you his capable assistant to use at your discretion; finally, it was put to some use."

"All thanks to your good teaching, Bella," Cynthia Sheridan replied, her expression ingratiating yet somewhat smug, "On the first day of its opening to be this desolate, no matter how skilled Ann Vaughn is, no one would dare to step foot in that clinic."

Saying this, Cynthia turned her head back to observe the Vaughn Clinic further.

Unexpectedly, what she saw changed her expression immediately.

In just a few minutes, several luxury cars appeared at the entrance of the Vaughn Clinic, crowding the previously empty space.

"What is going on with these people? Aren’t they afraid of offending the Sheridan Family?!" Cynthia banged on the car window furiously and pulled out her phone, "I’ll have Howard Larkin handle this!"

She refused to believe these people would act so recklessly, choosing to support that wretched clinic of Ann Vaughn’s even if it meant offending the Sheridan Family!

Jane Sheridan glanced out the car window upon hearing this, her composed demeanor abruptly changing with astonishment in her eyes.

"No need to call!"

"How can I not call? These people are not only disrespecting me but the entire Sheridan Family! If Howard doesn’t teach them a lesson..."

Before Cynthia’s angry words were finished, Jane Sheridan slapped her sharply across the right cheek!

Cynthia was stunned by the slap, covering her reddened cheek and glaring at Jane Sheridan with resentment but not daring to speak.

"Fool!" Jane Sheridan dropped her previous elegance, her gaze chilling, "Those who came, Levitt Family’s Family Head, Elder Saxon, and also the White and Sheffield Families, who among them can you afford to offend?"

"I’ve told you to use your brain and handle things properly, yet you still manage to mess up such a trivial matter! Useless!"

"Get out of the car, don’t be an eyesore in front of me!"

After kicking Cynthia out of the car, the champagne-colored Bentley sped off the street without looking back.

Choked by the exhaust fumes, Cynthia stomped her foot in frustration and spat, "Bah! Just a fake heiress acting high and mighty in front of me! If the Sheridans knew your true face..."

Suddenly recalling something, a malevolent glint appeared in Cynthia’s eyes.

Yes, how could she almost forget?

She still had a good "brother"...

...

Vaughn Clinic.

Sherry had already prepared herself for the embarrassing situation of no one visiting and even thought of how to comfort Ann Vaughn.

Who would have thought that though there were few ordinary guests, those who did come were magnates from the upper echelons of The Imperial Capital!

"Annie, your clinic isn’t too bad; it looks interesting," Silas Kane remarked, hands behind his back as he entered the Vaughn Clinic, accompanied by a disgruntled Shane Sharp.

"Thanks for the compliment, Levitt," Ann Vaughn replied with a restrained smile, leading them to the lounge, where Shane handed her a beautifully wrapped gift box.

"Here, a gift for your grand opening," he said, turning away, looking somewhat upset.

Of course, Ann Vaughn saw no reason to refuse, taking the gift box and giving Shane a glance before saying, "Are you having trouble sleeping lately, losing your appetite, and caught a cold?"

Upon hearing this, Shane sharply denied, "I can’t sleep because I’m thinking of you, and I’m not too angry to eat because of you! Stop talking nonsense!"

Ann Vaughn: "..."

Silas Kane: "..."

Withdrawn back, Silas Kane affectionately ruffled Shane’s hair and explained to Ann Vaughn, "This kid’s been a bit slow-witted from a young age. Annie, do you have anything to boost intelligence?"

Seeing Shane’s handsome face turn red, Ann Vaughn found it amusing and nodded.

"Wait a moment; I’ll prescribe him some medicine. These symptoms will go away soon if taken on time."

Saying this, she sat at the consultation desk, writing a prescription accordingly, handed it to Sherry to prepare the medicine bags, then moved to attend to other guests.

Shane’s gaze followed her slender, graceful figure, unable to look away.

Silas looked at him with a face full of exasperated disappointment.

Following were Elder Saxon and his third son and daughter-in-law, whom Ann Vaughn had not encountered before in the Saxon Family and found somewhat unfamiliar.

"You have a deficiency in qi and blood, spleen and kidney weakness, palm perspiration but low body temperature—you’ll need proper conditioning..." Ann Vaughn diagnosed Elder Saxon and proceeded to write a prescription.

Elder Saxon chuckled, "You’ve done a splendid job fixing up this clinic. If your grandfather were still here, he would surely be proud."

"Father..." the noblewoman standing behind Elder Saxon called out in a troubled voice, "With so many good hospitals, why did you choose to come to such a small place for treatment..."
