Chapter 176: Chapter 176: A Distinguished Guest from an International Corporation

Isle of Flora Hospital.

When Ann Vaughn and Sherry arrived, Kenny had already been transferred to a hospital room, and the doctor was explaining something to Sutton Jennings.

"We don’t have matching bone marrow in our hospital. You need to take the child to a better hospital to see if matching bone marrow can be found. The sooner the surgery, the better..."

"Thank you, doctor, I understand." Sutton Jennings thanked him in a low voice and raised his hand to lightly support Ann Vaughn’s wrist as she walked over with a worried look, "The condition hasn’t worsened, don’t worry."

Ann Vaughn nodded, but her heart, which had been tightly wound, did not relax at all.

Even when Kenny was still in her womb, he almost couldn’t be saved several times. If she hadn’t taken Fetus Protection Pills and regularly adjusted her health, Kenny wouldn’t have survived till birth.

Let alone... when she was pregnant with Kenny, she was once forced to give blood.

Even though Eli Sheridan and Sutton Jennings searched far and wide for her medicinal materials, Kenny’s frailty was carried from the womb, and any adjustments showed very slow effects, making it impossible for him to engage in intense activities regularly.

But what Ann Vaughn didn’t expect was that when Kenny was two years old, he was diagnosed with leukemia.

Ann Vaughn almost felt like the sky was falling and wished she could bear all of Kenny’s suffering herself.

Quietly, Ann Vaughn walked into the hospital room, looking at little Kenny lying on the bed, still with a fever, his cheeks rosy, appearing very endearing.

Ann Vaughn sat on the stool beside the bed, her slender fingers resting on Kenny’s small wrist, gently taking his pulse.

It is said that doctors don’t treat themselves, which she hadn’t taken to heart before, but regarding matters of Kenny, she always feared her emotional involvement might interfere.

It would affect her judgment on Kenny’s condition and lead to incorrect responses.

Fortunately, the past few years of adjustments weren’t in vain. Although it couldn’t cure it, it at least prevented Kenny’s condition from worsening, buying her time to find a cure.

Over the past six months, she had taken Kenny to renowned hospitals across various countries, all failing to proceed with surgery due to a lack of matching bone marrow.

Ann Vaughn didn’t dare to stop her research on hematopoietic stem cells, hoping it would provide another path if no matching bone marrow could be found.

Given the limited medical facilities on Isle of Flora, Ann Vaughn wanted to take Kenny off the island to a hospital in the capital of K Country,

But at this time, the boats on Isle of Flora had a rule of not taking passengers after eight o’clock.

"I guessed you might be taking Kenny off the island, so I contacted the captain beforehand, and they’re willing to make an exception for you," Sutton Jennings said after finishing a call.

Hearing that Ann Vaughn needed to go to the city for Kenny’s check-up, the captain even skipped the fireworks festival and hurried to the dock.

Ann Vaughn silently noted this gratitude in her heart, planning to repay it when possible in the future.

-

Two and a half hours later, in Saint Roland Children’s Hospital in the capital of K Country.

"We currently do not have matching bone marrow in our hospital, but aside from that, umbilical cord blood from a newborn is also effective in treating acquired leukemia." The doctor said.

Ann Vaughn just showed a hint of joy when she heard the doctor continue, "Of course, if the cord blood’s blood type doesn’t match the patient’s, it won’t be of use either."

Kenny and Ann Vaughn both have RH negative blood, making it nearly impossible to find a matching bone marrow transplant.

To match with cord blood, it naturally needs to come from a sibling of the same parents.

But—

Sutton Jennings noticed Ann Vaughn’s rare expression of bewilderment and confusion, frowned slightly, gently patted her head, and comforted her in a low voice, "Don’t worry, with so many hospitals worldwide, we’re sure to find one."

Ann Vaughn’s hands, hanging by her side, clenched tighter, her bright eyes downcast, her voice hoarse, "Don’t worry, unless it is absolutely necessary, I won’t resort to that."

Living in seclusion on Isle of Flora, being content to treat patients and tend flowers daily, refusing to meet those who come seeking her from afar, protecting Kenny with a peaceful and quiet life environment.

The past chaos is long behind her, what’s the need to invite additional troubles?

But what if, what if Kenny can’t wait until a matching bone marrow is found?

"No matter what decision you make, I’ll be here to back you up, so what’s there to fear?" Sutton Jennings raised a slow smile that quickly fell, sighing softly in his heart.

He knew well what this support meant.

Yet, he equally understood Kenny’s importance to Ann Vaughn.

"I will." Ann Vaughn forced a smile, her gaze returning to the Little Dumpling in the hospital room.

Three days later.

After being in the hospital for three days, Kenny recovered his usual lively self, showing no signs of having been seriously ill.

"Mommy, you’ve worked hard. When we get home, I’ll make you flower cakes!" Kenny wrapped his soft, chubby arms around Ann Vaughn’s neck, affectionately nuzzling her cheek.

"Well then, Mommy better pick more flowers." Ann Vaughn packed up Kenny’s clothes and belongings, revealing a gentle smile.

"With me around, Mommy doesn’t have to lift a finger." Kenny patted his little chest, winking in Sutton Jennings’ direction.

Sutton Jennings received his cue, covering his mouth with his fist, stifling a laugh, and then nodded slightly to him.

Ann Vaughn didn’t notice this scene. She finished packing, held Kenny’s soft little body, and smiled with crescent-shaped eyes, "We’re discharged now."

Over two hours later, they finally returned to Isle of Flora.

"Dr. Vaughn, is Kenny alright? Nothing serious?"

"We were so worried, it’s good that nothing’s wrong. Here, wear the wishing flower wreaths we made for Kenny; may God bless this adorable child."

Almost all the residents of Isle of Flora who could come were waiting by the dock. When Ann Vaughn stepped off the boat with Kenny and Sutton Jennings, they were surrounded and asked about the situation.

Kenny’s neck and head were adorned with flower wreaths made only on Isle of Flora, with pale yellow flowers and a few darker ones, symbolizing the hope for life.

Kenny instantly covered his little face with his chubby hands, feeling inexplicably shy.

Although he would receive such beautiful flowers after getting sick, to prevent Mommy from worrying, he decided never to fall ill again!

Ann Vaughn thanked the warmhearted residents and was about to leave, holding Kenny’s hand when she noticed Sutton Jennings hadn’t moved. She turned, puzzled, "What’s the matter?"

"Nothing," Sutton Jennings smiled faintly, about to step forward. Seeing Ann Vaughn turn and leave without suspicion, he halted, walked over to ask a question, "Hello, may I ask where that ship came from?"

"I heard it’s for an inspection on the island, guests from an international corporation," the old man at the small dock shop thought for a moment and replied, "It seems they’re leaving the Isle of Flora today."
