Chapter 186: Sheridan Family Heiress

Chapter 186: Chapter 186: Sheridan Family Heiress

But dreams always give people the illusion of being reality.

Ann Vaughn is not a dream; she’s his extravagant hope, even a delusion.

"President Hawthorne, you have an important lunch meeting at eleven. Should I cancel it for you?" Mark Joyce’s voice came from the intercom next to the elevator doors.

Cyrus Hawthorne closed his ink-black eyes, then reopened them with clarity and indifference.

Fifteen minutes later, Mark Joyce, who was waiting anxiously outside and ready to cancel the meeting, saw Cyrus Hawthorne in a black suit emerge from the elevator and hurried to greet him.

"President Hawthorne, this is your schedule for today." Mark Joyce handed over the tablet in his hand, observing Cyrus Hawthorne’s expression carefully, and asked cautiously, "Are you having trouble sleeping? Would you like to call a doctor?"

Cyrus Hawthorne has severe sleep disorders, at times needing sleeping pills, and at worst requiring a psychologist’s hypnosis.

But his vigilance towards the outside world is too high, and his willpower and mind are too strong, so hypnosis doesn’t often work.

And even tenfold courage wouldn’t make Mark Joyce assume that President Hawthorne could sleep until ten-thirty and forget about the meeting, which is simply impossible.

"No need," Cyrus Hawthorne said coldly, sitting inside the car as the driver opened the door, "Let’s go to the meeting location."

"Yes."

-

Ann Vaughn slept until eight in the evening before waking up. She stretched, got out of bed, and went into the bathroom, applying some ointment here and there on her body.

Once the nearly ravaged marks on her skin faded significantly, she washed up and went out.

"Why are you here? Is everything resolved?" Ann Vaughn asked as she walked into the living room and saw Sutton Jennings and Kenny sitting on the carpet, playing games.

"They’re just minor issues," Sutton Jennings coughed lightly, his heart pricking at Ann Vaughn’s rejuvenated face, then looking away, "Are you hungry? A new restaurant opened at Greenleaf Bay, want to try it out?"

Kenny blinked his eyes and turned his head to look at Ann Vaughn, silently asking if they could have hot pot today.

Without shaking her head, Ann Vaughn directly gave him a "no way" look.

The restaurant was on the ninth floor at Greenleaf Bay, and since Sutton Jennings needed to park the car in the underground garage, he let Ann Vaughn and Kenny go up first.

Sutton Jennings booked a window seat, which was just the right height to view the Peren River at night.

After Ann Vaughn and Kenny decided on what dishes to order, Sutton Jennings, having parked the car, joined them.

The serving time was quite slow, and after Ann Vaughn finished a glass of freshly squeezed cranberry juice, just as she was about to pour another, she suddenly recalled something and looked at Sutton Jennings in surprise.

"Strange, how did you know I liked cranberry juice from the start?"

Not just cranberry juice, he knew all her eating habits very clearly.

Evidently, that was only their second meeting at the time.

Ann Vaughn almost forgot about this detail until it suddenly came to mind for some reason.

"You probably don’t remember. When you saved him from the fire, I saw it." Sutton Jennings smiled faintly, his eyes showing a hint of nostalgia, "I was curious why you were so bold at that time, and started paying attention to you inadvertently."

Actually, he was wondering why there was such a silly girl in the world, who was merely a little one, soft and not very strong.

She almost risked herself to save someone else, with no benefit at all.

How naïve must one be to do something that benefits others but endangers oneself?

Out of curiosity towards this point, he illicitly used a second-level power from the Venrite organization to investigate Ann Vaughn.

From her favorite foods to her background, he looked into everything.

Later, he realized that she was just a fearless little calf, and lost interest.

Until he met Ann Vaughn again, Sutton Jennings more or less understood that she simply wanted to save people, with no other intentions.

Just like when he was severely injured and pursued by opponents, she was obviously terrified and reluctant to cause trouble, had even decided to leave, but still turned back to rescue him.

Since then, he was beyond redemption.

"Uncle Jennings, do you now understand why you’ve been single for so long?" Kenny held his little chin and looked at Sutton Jennings with a slightly exasperated look after hearing what he said.

Sutton Jennings was taken aback, "What?"

What does this have to do with him being single for so long?

Ann Vaughn didn’t understand the connection either, but she did feel a warm current surging in her abdomen.

Her expression changed slightly, and she picked up her purse and stood up, "I’m going to the bathroom, you can start eating when the food arrives!"

"What’s with your mommy?" Sutton Jennings looked at Ann Vaughn’s obviously somewhat flustered back and asked in confusion.

Kenny figured it out in a second; since the Isle of Flora is close to the equator with a hot climate, his mommy always craves the cool, and she probably sneaked some iced drinks, making her monthly troubles irregular.

Immediately, Kenny waved over a waiter, "Pretty miss, I would like to order a cup of brown sugar ginger tea, please make it quick."

"Alright, young master, please wait a moment." The waiter, upon seeing such an adorably handsome little boy, couldn’t help but brighten their smile and instantly went to prepare it.

Ann Vaughn suffered during the birth of Kenny, then unintentionally soaked in cold water due to an accident, which left her with some health issues.

Although it wasn’t unbearably painful, not paying proper attention would be quite taxing.

Hence, as Kenny became more perceptive, he remembered this.

In the restroom.

After getting ready, Ann Vaughn’s face appeared rather abnormally pale, her delicate brows slightly knitted.

Having her period suddenly means that all the effort she put in last night was for nothing!

Busy for no reason—

She suddenly felt as though she was shooting herself in the foot, scolding herself for indulging too much in cold drinks.

"That lady is really beautiful, I heard she’s the Sheridan Family’s heiress. With such status and prestige, ordinary wealthy family heiresses can’t even hold a candle to her."

"Her brother’s the president of a multinational corporation, and her younger brother just won the Golden Deer Award for Best Actor last month. She herself returned from further studies in M Country and is now working as a doctor at Sheridan Hospital. It’s simply a winning script in life."

"No wonder she’s caught the eye of my male deity. There might be some good news coming soon."

A few female staff walked in, occasionally letting out some envious whispers.

The Sheridan Family’s heiress?

After washing her hands, Ann Vaughn overheard their discussion. They were likely talking about Ethan Sheridan’s sister, Jane Sheridan.

She once saw a photo of Jane Sheridan on Ethan Sheridan’s phone; she was indeed a rare beauty.

The Sheridan Family is also quite significant in The Imperial Capital, arguably rivalling the Hawthorne Family in influence.

It’s just that their family roots are not in The Imperial Capital but in Marinia.

Ann Vaughn didn’t spend much thought on this matter, resting against the wall for quite a while until her complexion looked better before heading out.
