Chapter 525: Chapter 525: Things You Can Only Do with Someone You Love
A small head poked out from behind the sofa, lying there directly, with big accusatory eyes staring at Cyrus Hawthorne.
No one knew when he sneaked in or how long he’d been there...
Cyrus’s gaze paused slightly, then he raised his hand to adjust the blanket on Ann Vaughn’s cheek, covering her properly again before walking toward the Little Dumpling.
"Kids shouldn’t stay up late, go to sleep." He grabbed the soft body of Kenny with one hand, carrying him out of the room and into his children’s room.
As soon as he was put back on the ground, Kenny placed his hands on his hips and questioned Cyrus with great momentum, "Did you just secretly hit my mommy? I heard everything!"
Even someone as calm and composed as Cyrus had his expression stiffen slightly upon hearing this innocent remark from Kenny.
"That’s domestic violence!" Kenny’s soft face was filled with anger, "If you can’t properly protect my mommy, cherish her and respect her the way she deserves, I’m going to consider changing daddies!"
The veins on Cyrus’s forehead twitched twice in restraint. He squatted down to level his gaze with the Little Dumpling who only reached his knee, and raised an eyebrow, "How did I hit your mommy?"
He actually won’t admit it!
Kenny pursed his small mouth unhappily, "I heard everything! Mommy was crying, telling you not to hit her! If Uncle Dexter hadn’t stopped me, I would’ve rushed in to beat you up!"
Even Uncle Dexter is an accomplice of the Archfiend!
Not only did he stop him from intervening with the Archfiend’s abuse towards his mommy, but he also covered his mouth and carried him away!
So frustrating!
"Cyrus: "..."
Luckily, Uncle Dexter didn’t let the Little Dumpling rush into the bathroom.
Otherwise, with his thin-skinned and easily embarrassed nature...he’d probably die of shame.
"Little one," Cyrus pressed a hand on Kenny’s head, his narrowed eyes carrying a gentleness he himself hadn’t noticed, "I wasn’t hitting your mommy."
"You’re lying." Kenny looked skeptical, "If you didn’t hit Mommy, why was she crying so much and kept saying no?"
Upon hearing this, Cyrus cleared his throat, his handsome face showing faint signs of cracking, "It’s just a game. Your mommy lost, so naturally, she had to accept the penalty."
Hearing this, Kenny looked at him, half-believing and half-doubting, "What kind of game? My mommy is really good at games."
Just like a puzzle game they played before, it quickly became a global sensation shortly after its release, stirring up quite a buzz.
Even a puzzle-based indoor variety show, which wasn’t that popular at the time, became a blockbuster.
But his mommy beat nearly a thousand brain-teasing levels in the game within just three days, breaking records.
However, compared to gaming, his mommy preferred researching new medicines and medical books, with games serving only as a casual pastime, dispensable.
Seeing that the Little Dumpling wanted to get to the bottom of things, Cyrus raised an eyebrow and said with deep meaning, "When you grow up, you’ll understand it’s something you do only with someone you like, got it?"
This was clearly just to placate the child.
But Kenny, having calmed down a bit, thought it through.
Although the Archfiend is imperious and domineering to others, to him and his mommy...
The Little Dumpling didn’t want to admit it, but inwardly he couldn’t deny it; the Archfiend’s kindness towards him and his mommy almost knew no bounds.
Due to his naturally sensitive mind, his mommy, whose emotional intelligence hadn’t been fully activated, likely hadn’t realized it yet.
"So, does that mean," Kenny’s big eyes flashed with cunning, "you like my mommy?"
"Kids shouldn’t meddle in adult matters. Go to sleep." Cyrus quickly concealed a fleeting smile at his lips, then stood up and ruffled Kenny’s small head, "And do fewer things that worry your mommy."
After speaking, he turned and left the children’s room.
Kenny stood in place, tilting his head as he watched the tall figure disappear outside the door, his eyes full of surprise.
Since when did the Archfiend notice?
Meanwhile...
In the suburb of The Imperial Capital, the dilapidated buildings were isolated from the bustling center. Even the few white doves flying across the sky seemed lonely and desolate.
"Miss Miya, we’re here." The assistant got out first, then walked over to open the car door for Miyi Yates.
Miyi Yates stepped out of the car, elegantly smoothing the creases on her skirt, "Lead the way."
"Yes."
The assistant led the way, bringing Miyi Yates to a building that had been in disrepair for years, with its walls damaged in several places, and went up to knock on the door of a room on the second floor.
"Bang! Clatter—"
A loud noise suddenly emanated from inside the room. Due to poor soundproofing, standing outside the door meant the sounds inside could be heard clearly, mixed with low suppressed growls amid the noise.
It was accompanied by faint crying, and...the sound of a head banging against the wall.
"Miss Miya, this..." The assistant hesitated, unsure whether to knock on the door.
Miyi Yates motioned for the assistant to stand aside, walked up to the door herself, and knocked on the rusted iron door.
The low growls and cries inside continued until nearly ten minutes later when the iron door opened a crack.
"Who are you..." The woman inside, her eyes red from tears she hadn’t yet wiped clean, looked at the two outside with confusion.
Just standing there, they seemed so out of place against the dilapidated surroundings.
Especially this woman, dressed in finery, with a lovely face, she was like a noble lady from ancient times, graced with elegance from every fiber.
Miyi Yates’s gaze quickly swept over the woman’s wrist, then she looked at her with a reserved smile, "Hello, I believe I can help you."
...
After finishing Dragon’s hellish training, Ann Vaughn finally caught her breath, feeling much more at ease compared to before.
"Quinn, I’ve been running for an hour already. It’s not too much to ask for a vanilla ice cream, is it?"
After coming down from the treadmill, Ann Vaughn sat on the cushion panting, her rosy little tongue licking her dry lips with a face full of yearning.
Sitting by the window sorting documents, the man didn’t even look up when he responded, "No."
Ann Vaughn immediately collapsed to the ground like a salted fish: "There’s only one wish I have in this life, and I’ll definitely repay you in the next."
"You said the same thing when asking Kenny for ice cream."
... So, why did this trick work on Little Dumpling but have no effect at all on Big Dumpling?
Ann Vaughn looked like she had lost all hope, even her red lips pouting, "You’re cold, you’re heartless, you’re unreasonable!"
Just as she finished speaking, a file descended from the sky, which Ann Vaughn immediately caught with her hands as she sat up, opening it with defiance, "Are you trying to murder me?"
"If there’s any business secret in here, just wait for me to sell it to your rival company for money to buy ice cream... huh?"
