Chapter 490: Chapter 490: Who Says I’m Doing This for Her?
"I’ll go bring the car around, wait for me right here." As they exited the studio, Wilder Sheridan took off the light brown jacket he wore and draped it over Ann Vaughn’s bare shoulders before striding toward the parking lot.
Ann Vaughn was a bit surprised; she didn’t expect this brat to be so considerate.
After all, since knowing him and then discovering he was her twin brother, Ann Vaughn couldn’t shake the image in her mind of him being a stubborn and mischievous brat.
Moreover, the first time she met Wilder Sheridan over four years ago, he had been tortured as an experimental victim, reduced to a figure so thin and bony that he resembled a fifteen or sixteen-year-old.
Ever since finding out he was that gloomy teenager from four years ago, Ann Vaughn hadn’t been able to see him as someone her age.
He’s a downright naughty troublemaker.
In her thoughts, Ann Vaughn noticed a car had stopped in front of her. Originally assuming it was Wilder’s, she looked up only to see it was the black Maybach she knew all too well.
She couldn’t see the scene inside from the car window; only her slightly dolled-up, delicate face and her slightly bewildered gaze were reflected.
Coming back to her senses, Ann Vaughn instinctively stepped back a few paces, pressing her lips tightly together.
Just then, Wilder’s car also pulled up with a honk to remind her, prompting Ann Vaughn to withdraw her gaze from the other car and turn around to walk toward him.
"What were you doing spacing out at the roadside? Haven’t you learned from last time?" Once inside the car, Ann Vaughn heard Wilder complaining unhappily.
Amused, Ann Vaughn glanced at him, "Are you indirectly showing concern for me?"
"Humph." Wilder huffed proudly, not responding since he was seventy percent convinced she was his real sister. However, saying it rashly might end up with her laughing him off.
After all, he had made so many stupid mistakes before.
Once he had solid proof, he’d catch her off guard. Hehe... by then she wouldn’t even get a chance to deny it!
Ann Vaughn had no clue about Wilder’s little scheme, so after fastening her seatbelt, she casually looked out the window.
She saw that the Maybach remained parked in place without any intention of driving away.
Remembering last night’s events, Ann Vaughn quickly shifted her gaze, brushing away the lingering bitterness before putting those thoughts aside.
Meanwhile, inside the Maybach, Mark Joyce witnessed Wilder’s flashy red Ferrari drive away and cautiously asked the man in the backseat reviewing documents, "President Hawthorne, should we continue following Miss Vaughn?"
The man slowly lifted his gaze, his eyes coldly pinned on him, "Who said I’m here for her?"
But isn’t that the case? Mark Joyce barely swallowed the sentence and replied respectfully, "Of course not, it’s just a misunderstanding on my part."
Silence fell over the backseat.
Nearly fifteen minutes later, the fountain pen struck heavily against the table with a muffled thud, followed by the faint sound of papers being tossed aside.
Soon, the man’s cold and deep voice resonated, "To the North Garden."
"...Yes!" Mark Joyce swiftly responded, dialed up the route to North Garden for the driver, and secretly grumbled in his heart.
If it weren’t for the driver’s mention this morning about President Hawthorne having him park down at Azure Gardens every night, staying in the car all night long and only leaving by dawn...
He would’ve believed the man wasn’t bothered by Miss Vaughn at all, even ignoring her.
Increasingly, he couldn’t comprehend what kind of romance President Hawthorne and Miss Vaughn were involved in; it was enough to make one’s teeth ache with jealousy.
...
Inside the charity gala venue, it was mostly filled with dignitaries or a gathering of celebrities.
Being one of the heirs of the Sheridan Family in Marinia, and a popular actor, Wilder Sheridan drew attention like a star surrounded by moons the moment he entered. People constantly approached to converse and greet him.
Most of them were stars from the entertainment circle, all lowering their stance.
If they could gain Wilder Sheridan’s favor during this time, it would be a win for them.
After all, this young master needed nothing more than money and fame; just look at his previous scandalous girlfriend, Mandy Easton, who rose from an unknown to a second-line actress after being linked to him.
This led even more aspiring actresses to scheme to approach Wilder Sheridan for exposure perks.
Surprisingly though, Wilder didn’t attend alone this time but brought a... lady companion?!
"I’ve heard before that Actor Sheridan is so fond of his sister; that must be her, they look so alike, truly twins!"
"Mrs. Sheridan must have saved the galaxy in her past life! One son is a business genius, the other a grand slam actor, and the eldest daughter a distinguished student at a renowned university in M Country, while the youngest manages Vaughn Clinic!"
"Now that you mention it... the Sheridan Family’s feng shui must be fantastic, only producing exceptional offspring! Forget marrying into a wealthy family, I’d rather marry into the Sheridan Family!"
"If you ate even one more peanut, you wouldn’t be this drunk."
"Pfft." A mocking snort came unexpectedly from somewhere, "Sheridan’s third miss doesn’t look like that, don’t speak out of turn if you haven’t seen her. That woman doesn’t measure up!"
The actresses sitting beside Mandy Easton echoed her sentiments, implicitly belittling the lady companion Wilder brought as inferior to Mandy Easton.
Only then did Mandy Easton feel a bit better in body and mind, raising her chin to look toward Wilder Sheridan.
The man she had her sights on, let’s see who can take him away!
Meanwhile, at the best viewpoint in the VIP seat.
Wilder Sheridan led Ann Vaughn to her seat, even instructing his manager to bring her a hot drink before heading backstage to prepare.
"Ah," the manager turned back to look at Ann Vaughn sipping her hot beverage, filled with doubt inside, "Wilder, perhaps I shouldn’t say it, but have you ever considered... she resembles your real sister?"
The last time he saw Cynthia Sheridan, ordinary people might not notice, but they, veterans in the entertainment industry, certainly did.
That face was clearly the result of surgery, not naturally beautiful.
Moreover, Cynthia Sheridan might carry a cold demeanor on the surface, yet there was a profound incongruity within her, giving off an eerie vibe.
By comparison, Ann Vaughn seemed more like the real deal...
"I’ll investigate this matter; my stubborn old man at home doesn’t believe. When I have the evidence, I’ll shove it in his face and win back my place." Wilder clearly still harbored resentment over the last conversation.
No matter how indebted one might feel towards Cynthia Sheridan as a daughter, it shouldn’t mean dismissing his son’s words, right?
Is Cynthia Sheridan really the only biological child? No, whether Cynthia Sheridan is biological is still unknown!
The manager nodded in agreement, couldn’t help but ask, "Do you think she’d be interested in entering the entertainment industry?"
"Huh?"
