Chapter 546 The Power of the Gods

The Demon God.

The suffix ‘God’ was enough to prove its supreme reverence.

In this mysterious world of the Grotto-Heavens, gods had existed tens of thousands of years ago, yet even now, they continued to influence every blade of grass and tree.

Inexhaustible resource regeneration rate.

World resource reset.

The divine script was imprinted upon the void of the Grotto-Heavens, a universally known divine decree. The gods, though detached from the mortal world, their divine miracles continually appeared within the Grotto-Heavens, casting a shadow over the hearts of all native Grotto-Heaven dwellers and outsiders alike. They were like an insurmountable, towering mountain, or a majestic statue that forced all to bow their heads.

This was why the little demoness was so agitated.

Even she, once a renowned Demon King in the Grotto-Heavens, who possessed over a dozen main cities belonging to races like humans and beasts, and countless smaller towns and city-states.

Her Demon King’s Fortress was no less impressive than the top kingdoms below the empires.

Even with such a dazzling past, even with a presence that the rulers of the two great empires would not necessarily deign to look upon, she dared not offend the divine majesty.

Yet, Chen Yu was completely unfazed.

The little demoness could interpret this as the courage of the ignorant. However, she could never have imagined that Chen Yu would ultimately utter such words.

Behind him stood the Demon God!

Even at her peak, the little demoness had never once caught a glimpse of the Demon God, nor had she been fortunate enough to witness even a divine silhouette cast by the Demon God.

Chen Yu, a human from the outside world, actually had the support of the Demon God?

“Do you even know what you’re talking about?” After a brief moment of stunned silence, the little demoness’s face displayed a look of exasperation. “If what you’re saying is true?! Let me put it this way, what you’re saying is simply impossible. I haven’t even seen the Demon God, so how could you possibly have the Demon God’s support? My friend, you’re human. You’re not even of the demon race. Even if you were of the demon race, I might believe you just a little.”

Within her sea of consciousness, the little demoness whispered in a focused tone, pinching her little finger.

“See? I can only believe this much.”

“Then can you explain my experiences since entering the Grotto-Heavens?” Chen Yu whispered back in his mind. “Where did the food from Greed Critical Strike come from? Why do equipment blueprints that others can’t obtain appear for me? And why would Mythical Grade Item Points appear for me? Can you explain these things?”

The little demoness fell silent.

She was indeed stumped by Chen Yu’s series of questions.

Greed Critical Strike could still be explained relatively easily. There were indeed individuals in the Grotto-Heavens who possessed innate talents from birth. Such people were called lucky ones with ‘Divine Power’ by the Grotto-Heavens.

Those with ‘Divine Power’ could be seen as believers chosen by the gods.

Their talents were also varied.

Although they were relatively scarce in number, within any given country, one could find a handful. For instance, in the little demoness’s former Demon King’s Fortress, there were a few talented individuals.

She still had vivid memories of them.

Gluttony!

One of the abilities of her subordinates who possessed ‘Divine Power’. Its function was to instantly devour vast amounts of food and convert it into strength through rapid digestion.

There was also another subordinate with the talent—War Spirit.

This was a halo-type talent.

It could greatly boost the morale of subordinates within its range.

To be honest, in the eyes of the little demoness, both of these ‘Divine Powers’ were rather chicken feed. Gluttony merely shortened the time it would have taken for him to reach a certain level, but he couldn’t eat further during digestion. His strength couldn’t be enhanced further, effectively borrowing power from the future and pre-paying it.

War Spirit was even less remarkable. Any general under her command could inspire their subordinates to have soaring morale.

Chen Yu was somewhat special!

Even with the little demoness’s extensive experience, she had indeed never seen a talent like Chen Yu’s, which could cause food to trigger critical strikes.

The Grotto-Heavens suffered from a shortage of grain.

This was a fact known to all nations.

Some talented individuals could shorten crop growth efficiency or increase yield. Such individuals now held the status of food merchants in various nations.

Their status was remarkable.

They could be said to control the lifelines of many kingdoms.

Grain was extremely scarce. Even the grain output of human kingdoms could not achieve self-sufficiency, let alone the Orc Empire and the Demon regions.

Chen Yu’s talent seemed to be a collection of various food-related abilities.

And the numerical values were multiplied several times over.

The little demoness had personally witnessed Chen Yu unbox a mountain of food from a chest and had also seen him repeatedly trigger critical strikes on already critical-hit food.

She couldn’t understand it, nor could she explain it.

She had actually discussed this matter with Sona, but neither of them could find an answer.

And then there were Chen Yu’s equipment blueprints.

The little demoness, having served as a great Demon King in the Grotto-Heavens for thousands of years, had never encountered ‘equipment blueprints,’ which practically only existed in concept. Yet Chen Yu obtained them.

Several sets!

From Adventurer’s set to Bronze set, and Silver Bright set. These blueprints were either obtained from the Mermaid Princess or were gifts from the little demoness. The little demoness was unsure about Illya.

At the very least, the little demoness herself knew that what she gave Chen Yu were definitely design blueprints.

She speculated that Illya’s gifts were likely blueprints as well. Otherwise, she absolutely wouldn’t believe that anyone would be foolish enough to hand over blueprints to others. Even if the strength of the North Sea truly surpassed that of all nations, the Princess of the North Sea shouldn’t have committed such a foolish act.

This meant that the crafting diagrams they gave Chen Yu had been tampered with in secret.

Who else could have done something like this?

The Gods!

The little demoness couldn’t think of anyone else capable of such a feat. Only the ‘gods,’ who existed in the ethereal realm and occasionally descended with miracles, could achieve such a level.

Chen Yu, perhaps, was truly a chosen one of the gods.

Undeniably, the little demoness had genuinely thought this.

But—

There were still too many unexplainable issues in between.

The reason!

The most direct was the reason for the ‘gods’ doing this.

She certainly acknowledged that the gods’ decisions were not something that outsiders could arbitrarily probe. But at least, she hadn’t seen many shining points in Chen Yu.

Frankly speaking, she was telling the truth!

In her thousands of years as a Demon King, she had witnessed countless astonishing juniors. She wouldn’t dare say that everyone could crush Chen Yu, but at least Chen Yu’s performance wouldn’t rank in the top ten among the juniors she had seen.

She believed that Chen Yu’s future might surpass those individuals.

However, as things stood, Chen Yu’s path was fraught with thorns, and given his many actions, the shining points she saw in him were too few, with too many flaws still present.

Gods!

Those supreme beings in the Grotto-Heavens. They were not like the little demoness and Sona, who had a very limited range of choices. Looking at the native inhabitants and the surviving outsiders of the entire Grotto-Heavens, the gods should have had better options. It couldn’t be that she and Sona had chosen the absolute best in the entire Grotto-Heavens.

The probability of this was too slim.

The little demoness did not believe it!

She, also, never wanted to make the same choice as the ‘gods’!
