Chapter 511 Open Cards

The Cloud Nine Restaurant.

Countless people gathered outside the restaurant, craning their necks to peer inside.

Someone had been murdered!

The retainers were indeed efficient. Chen Yu had instructed them to blow things out of proportion, to make the entire city aware of the incident. They promptly contacted a group of people who began to loudly spread news of what happened in the restaurant throughout the city.

They themselves had not shown their faces. By the time the news began to spread, they had already left the city.

“I really don’t understand, what exactly are you thinking!” Roni Elton, her fists clenched, paced back and forth in the inn room, as anxious as an ant on a hot pan.

How could she possibly understand?

Chen Yu had killed Lu Silid in the restaurant. Their correct course of action should have been to flee immediately. The more time they delayed, the more likely it was that her father could find a way to resolve the matter.

But to her surprise, Chen Yu…

He didn’t run.

And that wasn’t all.

Even though the retainers had promised to keep their mouths shut, Chen Yu didn’t want their help in concealing the truth. Instead, he paid them to spread the news.

What normal person would do such a thing?

Five hours had passed since the incident, yet no one from the City Lord’s Mansion had come to arrest them. This indicated that they still had a chance to escape.

But Chen Yu refused!

He insisted on staying in the city and even settled comfortably into an inn.

“Can you stop pacing? Your stamina is incredible, you’ve been at it for hours,” Chen Yu murmured, leaning back in his chair. Compared to Roni’s anxiety, he, Heidou, and Barbara remained remarkably calm.

Barbara, for one, simply didn’t care about the consequences.

She was a demon.

She was unfamiliar with the laws of the human kingdom.

Even if problems arose, she could directly enter Chen Yu’s wristband, and it wouldn’t affect him at all.

Heidou had absolute trust in Chen Yu.

He believed that Chen Yu had his reasons for acting this way and that no matter how difficult the problem, Chen Yu could solve it with ease.

Roni, however, was different!

She possessed the ability to think independently and couldn’t comprehend Chen Yu’s actions.

“How can I possibly calm down?” Roni slapped the table with her hand. “Chen Yu, I’ve always thought of you as a very rational, calm, and intelligent person. I admit that I misunderstood you when we first met, but I soon realized I was wrong. But what you’re doing now is truly shattering my perception of you.”

“Oh, sit down.”

Chen Yu pulled Roni’s hand and gestured for her to sit.

“Why are you panicking? I’m the one who killed him, it has nothing to do with you. At worst, if something happens, you can just disassociate yourself from me. You’re the legitimate daughter of the Elton family; they won’t do anything to you, will they?”

“What do you take me for?” Roni immediately became angry.

Seeing Roni’s fury, both Chen Yu and Heidou flinched. Roni bit her lip and continued,

“You killed that Lu Silid to avenge me, so how could I possibly abandon you? I, Roni, am not that disloyal.”

“Then can you solve this problem?”

“No!”

Roni declared loudly and righteously.

How could she solve it?

Committing murder in the main city, not some outlying settlement. This city bordered the Royal City; it was the final checkpoint before entering the capital.

To kill someone here was akin to killing someone at the King’s very feet.

“See, since you can’t solve it, then just sit down and be quiet for a while,” Chen Yu said with a smile, pouring her a cup of water. “If you can’t solve it, then just watch quietly as I do. This is a priceless lesson, you don’t need to do anything, just watch.”

“You’ll solve it?”

“Mhm~”

Chen Yu smiled enigmatically.

“Chen Batian, do you really think everyone in the underground is an idiot except for you?” Roni said, exasperated. “You might have outsmarted those people in the outer regions, but this is the main city. There aren’t many fools here. Do you think your little tricks will let you escape the crime of murder?”

Chen Yu, leaning against the chair, smiled without speaking.

No explanation was needed.

Some things couldn’t be explained. One could only understand the true meaning by watching and experiencing it slowly.

Chen Yu must have his reasons for doing this.

Otherwise, why would he have killed Lu Silid?

Because he disliked him?

It was impossible for Chen Yu to dislike everything in this world. He couldn’t possibly kill anyone he disliked, and he wasn’t that kind of person.

He vaguely recalled an incident in the early days of the underground, concerning a place called Ye City.

Chen Yu disliked him.

But he still let that fellow leave his camp.

“Laugh, laugh, laugh, you only know how to laugh!” Roni put her hands on her hips, like a little tiger. “When the City Lord’s Mansion arrives, let’s see if you can still laugh.”

“Please, hurry.”

Unexpectedly, Chen Yu’s excitement grew upon hearing ‘City Lord’s Mansion.’

“I’m already getting impatient.”

“Chen Batian, you’re really sick,” Roni felt her head about to explode. She had tried to understand Chen Yu’s actions.

She truly, couldn’t understand.

No matter how she thought about it or considered it, in her eyes, Chen Yu’s behavior was that of a simpleton.

“Little sister, I can only say your cultivation is too shallow,” Chen Yu raised his hand and pinched Roni’s small face, his eyes filled with a smile. “Didn’t you just contact your father? What did he tell you? Recount it to me.”

“My…”

Roni’s expression suddenly froze.

“My father told me to listen to you. I am not to interfere with any decisions you make, nor am I to be a burden to you. I should do whatever you ask, and not ask about or concern myself with anything else.”

“See, now that’s someone who understands.”

Chen Yu grinned, then patted Roni’s head again.

“Since your father said that, what else are you worried about?”

“The problem is, I don’t understand!”

Roni had contacted Fuhua Elton immediately after the incident. When she recounted the entire sequence of events, what she hadn’t expected was her father telling her to obey Chen Yu.

He hadn’t offered any solutions, nor had he said he would help handle it.

She found this person very perplexing.

Hearing that she should listen to Chen Yu, it seemed as if he and her father had reached some sort of consensus. Both of them understood the purpose of Chen Yu’s actions, but Roni was unable to comprehend it.

Both Chen Yu and Fuhua Elton were well aware of Chen Yu’s intentions.

It was very simple: it was an open declaration.

To forcibly bring the royal family’s covert manipulation of the Elton family into the open.

Chen Yu killing Lu Silid at the Cloud Nine Restaurant was a move to bring all matters into the open for resolution. Once exposed to the light, darkness could find no place to hide.

While Chen Yu’s actions appeared to plunge them into peril,

In fact—

He was saving himself!

Saving himself, saving Roni, saving the Elton family, and saving the city behind Chen Yu.

Lu Silid had to die.

And his death had to be known throughout the city, causing a great stir.

Only in this way could a solution be found to break the deadlock.
