Chapter 348: Abyss of Despair

Chapter 348: The Contaminated Star Devouring Beast Descends! Abyss of Despair!

But Ren wasn’t planning on letting them clear out these fellows. And some of them weren’t even something they could clear out.

"No need. Dealing with these things is a matter of moments." In his eyes, these souls, struggling in agony, were all excellent sources of the Power of Faith. Of course, some were also sources of the Power of Sin.

Ren clapped his large hand down. A visibly purple energy instantly covered the entire world. That was the power of the Source of Soul.

All the Contaminated Beasts became quiet. All souls were under his control. Soul Purification!

With just a thought, hundreds of millions of struggling souls felt the help of a god. The next moment, the contamination vanished into thin air. Except for those whose souls were inherently contaminated, all others returned to purity.

The black, muddy substance also began to harden and fall off, revealing the original life within. Some, however, directly shattered into dust.

Those who recovered understood what had happened, and countless people gazed up at the sky. They only saw Ren’s existence, like a great god high above, granting them divine salvation. Some began to kneel and praise. More and more people offered prayers and hymns.

Ren felt the rapid growth of the Power of Faith, and golden wings unfurled in the sky, illuminating the entire world. He had never uttered a word, yet hundreds of millions of people had already knelt in reverence.

[Vivi: Such sacred radiance. Ren-kun seems like a god descended from heaven.]

[Aqua: Hmm... there’s a bit of a god-like feeling, but he’s still far behind me!]

[Emilia: Ren-kun has saved another world.]

[Sakata Gintoki: Gulp! Everyone in the group is this amazing?!] He rubbed his eyes, afraid he had seen wrong.

[Reinhardt: Mr. Ren-kun is a uniquely powerful individual. He has saved Otherworlds from suffering multiple times, including my world. He is beyond reach.]

[Saiki Kusuo: Very strong.]

[Ch’en: This can no longer be described as simple magic. If Ren-kun could solve Oripathy, that would be great.]

[Tushan Honghong: Hmph hmph, Ren-kun is super strong. Sakata Gintoki, you can learn a phrase Momonga once said: cling to the big boss’s leg.]

[Sakata Gintoki: Ren-kun, Big Boss! Please let Gin-san cling to your leg!]

[Kushina: Is Ren-kun’s leg something you can just cling to? Want to try my fist? (Massive fist.JPG)]

[Sakata Gintoki: ...]

Ren gave a gentle smile. This Gin-san’s integrity was indeed low.

"What?! My Contaminated Beasts!" Sensing their pawns had vanished, the remaining Contaminated Soul Masters were enraged. Kiana and the others seized the opportunity to launch a surprise attack.

The one attacked by Kiana had half his body sliced away by space. But he didn’t die, gushing black contamination in an attempt to reconstruct his body. Kiana wouldn’t give him the chance. "Ha!" She waved both hands, and a spatial spiral spear tore through his upper torso.

Silver Wolf used Aether Editing to make her target spin in circles, easily "farming" her to death like grinding monsters.

Over at Shinobu Kocho’s side, a giant poisonous butterfly’s venom covered the Contaminated Soul Master. "Ahhh!" he screamed as he turned into a pool of blood.

The Mumei Sharingan rotated, and black Amaterasu flames ignited her target. He turned back in horror, trying to extinguish the flames, but then heard a deafening explosion. Bang! His body was annihilated in a golden impact shot from the muzzle of a gun-like weapon held by her golden Susanoo.

Rory Takakura’s enormous Ice-Skinned Frog launched a surprise attack, freezing its target into an ice sculpture.

These Contaminated Soul Masters weren’t particularly strong. Only their Contaminated Liquid was terrifying. With Ren present, their strongest power was rendered ineffective. Their strength was only about Lv5.

As for Momonga, his situation was truly absurd. He used super-tier defensive magic to tank all damage while stacking buffs, drinking potions, and taking out World Items before finally beginning to chant offensive magic.

Clang! Clang! Clang! A series of magic circles unfolded. The knowledgeable mages below all looked horrified. "That’s a Divine Domain! Magical power that humans could never reach!"

"Damn it! Damn it! Damn it!" Knowing his death was imminent, the Contaminated Soul Master gave up attacking and began to curse wildly. "If it weren’t for you bastards, this world would have already been destroyed by us!"

He was experiencing the pain of being killed by a tower’s attack when he was just one auto-attack away from backdooring. Under multiple blows, his eyes became ruthless, insane. "Hehehehehehe!" he let out a sharp, piercing laugh.

Immediately after, Momonga’s attack landed. But he raised his hands high. "You bastards, be devoured by the Contaminated Star Devouring Beast!" Boom! A bursting pillar of light pierced through heaven and earth, and he died.

Momonga and the others returned to Ren’s side, but their expressions were all serious. The end-of-the-world prompt hadn’t appeared, even though all eight were dead.

Ren, however, calmly looked up at the sky. "The final boss has arrived."

Above the firmament, a shadow suddenly enveloped the earth, obscuring the sunlight. A mysterious and terrifying abyssal maw appeared in the sky, like a giant black hole, the terminator of the world. Its boundaries felt blurry, as if it were an endless void. Its surface was covered with bizarre, twisting patterns, and its edge shimmered with a faint glow—the last light emitted as the sun was obscured.

[Inorin Note:

Yahallo! It’s Inorin, and I wanted to share a little of my experience rereading this novel. Previously, I had read the MTL version up to Chapter 500+ before taking a break, as I got sidetracked by rereading "My Three Wives Are Beautiful Vampires" and then "Inner Voice: All Heroines Hear My Inner Voice." Having run out of other novels that suited my taste, I decided to reread this one here, partly to see how my translation holds up compared to the MTL I originally read. It turns out, it’s significantly better! I’m very satisfied with the reading experience, even though I’ve only gone through about 100+ Chapters so far.

However, during these 100+ Chapters, I did notice a few issues. First, in the early Chapters (around 1-15), the translation was a bit lacking because our MC was often called "Ren Kazama" before I standardized it to just "Ren." Another thing that I found a bit disruptive was the sentence structure, where many sentences were piled into a single, very long paragraph, creating a wall of text.

The most significant issue, however, was the handling of the lewd scenes. The translation describes them using metaphors like "playing games" or "fighting" without going into any detail. If you aren’t paying close attention, you might not even realize the characters are having sex. As many of you know, Chinese novels are subject to very strict censorship, which is why the original author had to rely on wordplay. Moving forward, I will try to make these scenes more direct and blunt, rather than leaving them implied.

So, after rereading my own work, I’m generally very satisfied, despite noticing these minor flaws. I will try to fix the naming inconsistencies, the long paragraphs, and the censored scenes in the upcoming Chapters. I also plan to create special translator’s notes to explain particularly complex sentences or concepts.

I will do my absolute best because this is one of my favorite novels. I read it myself, so making the translation as good as it can be is a matter of personal satisfaction for me as well.
