Chapter 67 Aphrodite

Tyche’s compliance was beyond the expectations of the two goddesses, but they were unaware that this troublesome mother simply wished to avoid giving the gods an excuse to visit her domain.

The goddess behaved with great propriety, which made Eurynome and Klymene feel rather guilty. After repeatedly thanking their sister, they departed with satisfaction.

Tyche knew the most about the divine king and queen’s private affairs. She was inwardly relieved to avoid meeting the mad Rhea; yandere types were best left in the two-dimensional world.

As the gods dispersed, Tyche approached the God of Calamities and quietly informed her son that a grand banquet would be held for him on the divine mountain. The four major gods seemed intent on making up for the previous disruption of Helios’s celebration, diligently supporting the newly born, powerful divine force.

Kanna’s would not defy his mother’s wishes for such a trivial matter. The God of Calamities saw all of Tyche’s efforts on his behalf and readily agreed to his mother’s arrangements.

The attendants cleaned up the aftermath, feeding the remaining meat to Kanna’s followers. The wolves excitedly weaved among the attendants, anticipating the delicacies they might casually toss their way.

The gods strolled on the grass in the orchard. The radiant Theia smiled and comforted a relieved Kanna’s, “Child, do not worry about the banquet; just enjoy the glory that belongs to you.”

Tethys brought her grandson a set of majestic armor, forged from the abundant minerals of the sea within a volcano. Kanna’s was very fond of it and quickly put it on to show off to his younger brother.

Zeus, with a look of helplessness, turned away, not wanting to see his boisterous elder brother. Fortunately, his maternal grandmother soon extricated him from the situation.

Tethys proudly watched her daughter moving through the shade of the trees. She went to her husband and, after a brief, quiet discussion, received his smiling nod. She then called her daughter back and announced earth-shattering news.

“Tyche, I believe it is time for you to bear greater responsibility,” the ancient grandmother of the sea said with solemnity, drawing the attention of all the gods present. The Sea Goddess gently but firmly stated, “You are the leader of the sea goddesses, and it is time for you to succeed me as the chief deity.”

The couple of Light Gods exchanged glances and looked at their silent eldest son behind them.

Before Tyche could voice her refusal, the Sea Goddess had made up her mind to retire. “I have been confined to the temple for a long time; let me reunite with your father.”

The goddess tidied her daughter’s hair and affectionately caressed her cheek. “Your sisters’ safety is my greatest concern. Now that you have proven you can protect and lead them, I can rest.”

The majestic Ocean God embraced his wife and earnestly admonished his daughter, “We are not leaving you; we simply tire of the days we cannot be together and wish for a period of rest. When you call our names, you will surely receive a response.”

Tyche was still somewhat reluctant and couldn’t help but hug her benevolent parents tightly, softly promising them that she would protect her sisters.

On the way to the divine mountain, the gods were still immersed in the explosive news of the Sea Goddess wanting to transfer the chief deity position to Tyche. However, Tyche’s heart suddenly tightened, and she had a bad premonition about this trip to the divine mountain.

The gods gathered again on Mount Othrys. Tyche, feeling uneasy, immediately sought out the Oracle Goddess Phoebe. Soon, her unease turned to worry as Phoebe shook her head warily.

The Oracle Goddess forced a smile, first praising Tyche for her excellent guidance, then mentioning how the God of Calamities’ unexpected divine position provided a significant and powerful supplement to the domain of fate. Throughout her words, she kept the topic focused on Kanna’s, offering no hints. Tyche’s heart sank; the worst had indeed come. Phoebe’s reaction could only indicate one thing: a primordial god had interfered!

Gaia! Tyche’s first thought was naturally of this Earth Mother Goddess. Only the Titan mother could make Phoebe, who surpassed powerful divine forces, avoid her.

Recalling the reminder from the Ice Sea Goddess, Tyche immediately connected it to the anomaly in Pontus. It seemed that the communication between Night and the Abyss had created a sense of crisis for Gaia, leading her to interfere with Aphrodite’s birth!

Tyche heightened her vigilance, realizing that this banquet would likely not be peaceful.

The temple was bustling with activity, and the feast had reached its climax. Tyche calmed herself, deciding that at this moment, the only course of action was to remain steadfast.

Her heart skipped a beat, and Tyche immediately noticed that the banquet scene had become somewhat amiss. During the celebration of Kanna’s promotion, the gods were pulling and tugging at each other, and some were even entangled.

The goddess angrily blew a north wind, causing the half-undressed deities to shiver and suddenly regain their senses. Although they hadn’t taken this banquet seriously, their blatant disrespect was beyond Tyche’s expectations.

A rosy glow emanated from the deep sea, and a goddess emerged from the water. Her golden hair covered her naked body, and her alluring face appeared even more captivating against the backdrop of water droplets.

The Sea Goddess Thetis appeared and draped a light veil over the goddess. Surrounded by waves and foam, the goddess stepped onto the land. The moment her feet touched the ground, soft grass appeared beneath her, as if unwilling to let her bare feet touch the soil.

Tyche turned to look at the chief deities seated at the head table. The lineage of Light and the lineage of the Ocean were naturally not pleased by the appearance of this interlude. Crius and Iapetus had grim expressions, clearly finding their dignity somewhat compromised.

The deities who had lost their composure retreated in panic under the indifferent gazes of the powerful deities. Tyche suppressed the anger on her face and looked expressionlessly at the gracefully approaching golden-haired goddess.

The beautiful goddess, clad in a sheer veil, walked towards the temple with a captivating charm in every movement.

The scent of roses surrounded the goddess, and the uncontrollable deities stared at her in a daze. The previously boisterous temple suddenly fell silent.

The goddess’s radiant smile reignited the atmosphere. The gods discussed the origin of this stunning goddess until the figure of the ancient sea god Pontus appeared behind her.

Tyche remained impassive, looking at Pontus with a neutral gaze. “Your Highness Pontus, are you here to attend Kanna’s banquet?”

Pontus’s eyes darted away, and he said helplessly, “This is the will of Her Highness Gaia; I cannot disobey.”

Trouble is brewing! Tyche silently told herself to remain calm and proactively invited the two uninvited guests to join the feast. “Your Highness Pontus, the acquisition of the Tsunami divine position was thanks to your assistance. Please join our banquet and offer your blessings to Kanna’s!”

The old man from the sea nodded with a bitter smile and introduced the golden-haired goddess to the gods. “This is Her Highness Aphrodite, the daughter of waves and foam who governs love and beauty.”

Aphrodite stepped into the temple barefoot, her blue eyes full of allure. The male gods swarmed around to express their admiration for this love goddess of moderate divine power, while the goddesses frowned, their gazes filled with hostility. This goddess of love and beauty indeed outshone the other goddesses; every inch of her skin shimmered with radiance, and feminine charm was displayed to its fullest extent.

Tyche lagged a few steps behind and said softly, “Pontus, has His Highness Eros chosen to be our enemy?”
