Chapter 101: A Meeting is Called

Chapter 101: A Meeting is Called

It didn’t take that long to find my way out of that dreadful manor. The walk back to the Variseth manor wasn’t too bad either since the families all seem to be within a decent distance from one another.

The feeling of being able to walk without worrying during the night was also quite different. Down below it was something you have to worry about constantly since you don’t know when monsters will show up.

Of course that fear disappeared a bit after awakening this power... And my new allies.

But nonetheless I was back in front of the manor again. Alarion was actually standing at the entrance, seems like he is looking up at the sky.

"Yo, I’m back." I say loud enough for him to hear.

His eyes shift towards me and he gives me a look of relief. "Glad you made it out of there in one piece. Those Selvaris’s can be pretty bad with how they handle things." Alarion replies.

"Actually they are going to arrange a meeting to settle this whole war rumor situation. Selene doesn’t seem to want to make an enemy of me." I say while beginning to think back on it.

It really is odd that she is only calling this meeting because of the fact that she didn’t want to make me an enemy. Even though Aria helped with killing the reaper.

She didn’t mention that one time during the whole day.

"Seems we have some luck on our side after all. Selene taking a liking to you will work in our favor for sure." Alarion responds with a bit of happiness in his voice.

I don’t really know what he’s planning but at least this solves the war issue for the time being. It doesn’t mean that it won’t come back up at some point in time though.

"Do you think this meeting will actually do some good?" I ask with some curiosity in my voice.

"It’ll help us prevent any needless bloodshed so I’d definitely say so." Alarion answers confidently answers before opening up the gate.

I followed him back inside the manor as I kept an eye on everything around me. The beings from the tower really do have me on edge since that encounter.

As we entered the main room I didn’t see anyone else walking about, no Aria, no Ghost, and no Lilly. It felt pretty quiet but I guess it made sense since it was late.

"They are probably waiting for you back in the room. We all talked for a bit while you were away, quite the companions you got there." Alarion compliments them as he heads towards the steps.

"I’m quite lucky. They have had my back for some time now." I say with a bit of appreciation in my voice.

As we walk up the steps I can feel a strange sensation in my chest, almost like someone is gripping my heart all of a sudden. What is this pain...? Thud! I fall to the ground as soon as we hit the top of the steps.

I’ll deal with this as a favor to Rika.

That wasn’t my own voice or Rika... That sounded a lot like Seraphine, but why would she be able to help with this? There’s so much that I still don’t understand about my power.

The consequences that I deal with for starters is a prime example of what I don’t understand. Why else would I have this sudden chest pain..?

Immediately the pain disappears, almost as if it never happened in the first place. Alarion was just hunched over next to me. Trying to figure out what happened.

"Rokuro? Everything okay?" Alarion’s voice becomes clear and audible.

"I think I’m just tired. I’ve overexerted myself these last few days." I say while standing back up.

There’s really no good way to explain anything that I experience with this power or about the voices in my head. They would probably think I’m crazy or something.

But I can’t ignore that the voice I heard sounded a lot like Seraphine. She hasn’t really been around lately that I can recall so what is the meaning behind it all?

The thoughts continue to rush through my mind as Alarion walks with me back to the room. "Just don’t give me a scare like that haha. Get some rest Rokuro." Alarion speaks with a bit of a humorous tone.

"I’ll try not to. Thanks." I respond before opening up the door.

To my surprise the three of them were actually in the room. Aria, Lilly, and Ghost. They were just sitting on the bed, waiting to me to enter the room?

I didn’t really expect Aria to be in here again since Lilly can be a bit weird with others joining us. Maybe they all got closer when they talked today since I was away from everyone.

Doing what I do best. Keeping my distance while figuring everything out.

I’m still not entirely sure if that’s the right approach for me to take when it comes down to it. No point in dwelling on it though.

"I’m ready for bed, what about you guys?" I ask while giving my usual warm smile.

Can I really keep up a smile like this all the time? I am happy around them but how real is the happiness that I feel lately... Maybe I am just exhausted from all of the chaos we’ve dealt with for the last few days.

Also, talking about Minami also drained me a bit so that would make a bit more sense.

"Come join us then." Lilly speaks before they get the chance to.

I shut the door behind me and walk over to the bed, taking my shoes off before laying down. It was time to enjoy the warmth of three beautiful women for another night before the meeting tomorrow.

"Goodnight." I say softly as I lay back on the pillow.

"Goodnight Rokuro." They all respond before getting comfortable.

How close will I get to them all?
