Chapter 88: A Master Swordsman Vs Dragon (Final)

Sylas was just staring at me from across the room with a surprised look on his face. Maybe this was finally something that caught him off guard.

Don’t underestimate him, he is still quite the opponent to be facing.

I wasn’t underestimating him regardless of how much power I produced here. Just have to make sure I don’t kill the guy.

Clash!!! Even with all of the pressure he was once again in front of me with his sword against my gauntlet. "At least you didn’t bring any disappointment with this fight." Sylas says with ease.

He was talking like the pressure was nothing, was that really the strength of an SS rank hunter? Meanwhile I haven’t even reached there myself so how could I expect this to be enough?

"Allow me to finish our fight here by showing you Eternal Light." Sylas continues on as his eyes begin to glow.

The bright yellow aura around him is growing even more to the point that it is blinding once again. Focusing on sight alone is stupid when other senses can make a difference in a fight as well.

I close my eyes and embrace the darkness instead, letting my hearing take over for the time being.

Breathe in, breathe out. The sounds of his boots hitting the ground as he moves closer to me became loud and clear. His sword slicing through the air towards me was given away by his radiance.

I can feel myself step back just in time as his sword brushes past me, this was the perfect chance to attack.

At this point I had no choice but to trust my instincts. I swung my right hand towards where it felt like he was at this moment, he should be in front of me right now... Hypothetically.

My gauntlet connected with a strange crunch that shudders up my arm in a matter of seconds before I hear something hitting the ground.

Clatter! Thud! At this point it would be better to open my eyes to see what I did since everything was dark at the moment.

So I open my eyes to the sight of Sylas sitting on the ground with the light gone that was all around him previously. "Is the fight over?" I question while looking down at him.

Did I somehow get lucky enough to beat him with that punch? It was kind of my gamble to end the fight without pushing myself too much more.

I didn’t want to kill him or put myself in a state where that was possible so I put enough power in my right hand to hopefully break through that radiance of his.

"Hahaha. I really did underestimate you, here I thought the display of power was all for show..." Sylas says with a bit of disappointment in his voice.

He sounds more disappointed in himself than with the outcome of the fight.

"I didn’t expect to win that fight if I’m being honest with you. That solar power you possess is insanely strong." I respond, kind of impressed.

"You’ve shown that we aren’t wasting our time after all, so thank you." Sylas says genuinely as he grabs his sword.

I gave him a hand up as the pressure disappears from around me, the gauntlet also disappeared after a few moments as well.

It was still unclear what that crunch was that I felt when punching against Sylas but maybe it wasn’t a big deal at the end of the day.

Clap. Clap. "Wasn’t that just a marvelous fight, I can’t believe I got to witness such a thing. We have lots to talk about so why don’t you go clean up Rokuro." Alarion says with delight in his words.

I gave a respectful bow since it felt like the right thing to do after such a fight. "I’ll look forward to it." I reply with a calm tone to my voice before exiting the room.

It’s hard to ignore it but the blood on the ground by Sylas told me that he took quite a lot of damage from that punch. He probably didn’t have enough time to brace for the attack since he didn’t know there’d be that much power behind it.

As I made it back to the bedroom from before I was met with Ghost and Lilly waiting for me in there.

"You look pathetic, Roku." Lilly says before suddenly pressing her hand on my chest. Her tone came off as if she was mocking me but she seems to be quite concerned about me.

"Seriously though, can you not go worrying us like that again?" Lilly continues on as she tries to smile, her eyes still locked on my previous wound.

Ghost also made her way over and took a closer look at me. "I’m in agreement with her. Please don’t go doing dangerous stuff like that again.." Ghost chimes in with a bit of worry in her voice before she takes hold of my hand.

Seems I worried them both, even if Lilly doesn’t like to fully embrace her emotions. She’s pretty terrible at hiding it, maybe it’s the lack of action that’s got her in such a funk lately.

Ghost already admitted that she needs to be looked at but her worrying about me always felt pretty normal. She did take care of me after what happened with the whisperspawn back

I look at them both for a moment as everything hits me. The feeling of people caring about me again was nice.

"I promise to be more careful." I assure them both with a positive tone in my voice.

This makes me wonder if Minami is watching over me, even with all the pain I’ve endured recently it would be nice. I just hope she doesn’t see anything lewd that happens in the future.

I wrap my arms around them both for a few moments as the silence enters. Nothing else was being said at the moment, it was just peaceful.
