Fang Fang’s two sentences finally broke the stalemate between Li Mohan and Ye Huohuo.
Li Mohan released his hand from Ye Huohuo’s chin, and the pride in Ye Huohuo’s heart deflated. She slumped to the ground like a deflated balloon.
Two arrows were stuck in her back, and one in her backside, making her look like she was adorned with three incense sticks.
The feeling of exhaustion intensified the pain in her back, and Ye Huohuo felt completely drained.
“Fang Fang, you’ve still got some conscience. Hurry up and get these three things out of my back, it’s killing me!” Ye Huohuo didn’t ask Li Mohan for help, directly calling out to Fang Fang.
Li Mohan’s brow twitched. He glanced at Fang Fang, his gaze cold and mixed with other emotions.
Fang Fang, however, acted as if she didn’t notice his displeasure. She walked directly to Ye Huohuo’s side and crouched down, touching the arrow on her shoulder.
Ye Huohuo gritted her teeth in pain. “Be gentler, damn it!”
Fang Fang let out a “tsk!” sound. “Still got the energy to curse? You’re far from dead. Luckily, I ran fast and was far away when they shot you, so the arrows didn’t have much force. Don’t worry, your bones aren’t injured.”
“As for this one…” She pointed to the arrow stuck in Ye Huohuo’s lower back, chuckling. “You’re quite lucky. You had a backpack on, which the arrow pierced through. It only went about a centimeter into your flesh. It looks scary, but it’s actually fine.”
She paused. “This one in your backside is more troublesome!” Fang Fang chuckled. “You have quite a bit of flesh there, and this arrow is lodged the deepest and most securely. When I pull it out, you’ll have to endure it. It might even pull out some flesh.”
“What? Can you do it? If not, I’ll send her to the hospital!” Before Ye Huohuo could say anything, Li Mohan interjected, his voice laced with a hint of tension.
Fang Fang glanced at him disdainfully. “Who are you looking down on? Do you know who I am? Let me tell you, I’m a renowned surgical expert. Forget pulling out an arrow, I could even perform a heart transplant and cure her!”
“You? A surgical expert?” Li Mohan frowned, scrutinizing Fang Fang for a long time. “Impossible. I investigated your background; you couldn’t possibly be a doctor!”
Fang Fang’s expression became slightly unnatural. “I… I was talking about my past life! You outsiders don’t understand. Don’t cause trouble here!”
Li Mohan was about to say more but was interrupted by Ye Huohuo. “I believe her. You all move away. I don’t want to be exposed!”
Although Nie Ming was a bird, its consciousness was human, and male at that, so it was natural to avoid impropriety. It flew to Li Mohan’s shoulder. “Tr-trust that woman. She’s… she’s a Charm, she’s lived for over a thousand years and impersonated all sorts of people. She knows a bit of everything!”
“Charm? What’s that?” Li Mohan was still worried and reluctant, but he didn’t have a doctor available. He had no choice but to concede. While he wasn’t sure if Fang Fang was capable, Nie Ming was Ye Huohuo’s senior disciple, and he wouldn’t harm her.
“I’ll explain when I have a chance!”
He turned his back, standing a short distance from Ye Huohuo and the others, using his body to shield them.
Meanwhile, Li Mohan was witnessing quite a commotion in front of him.
The few people who had been blocking Ye Huohuo and Fang Fang were being dealt with by Ah Cheng. Five or six people were no match for Ah Cheng alone, and they were already losing.
Two had been beaten into immobility on the ground, and the remaining four had sustained varying degrees of injury. They were putting up a desperate struggle, and the fight was nearing its end.
On the other side, the dozen or so people who had charged up from the mountain with crossbows were being held back below by the other men Li Mohan had brought.
The dozen or so with crossbows were clearly less skilled than the six with knives. Once they lost the advantage of ranged attacks from the crossbows, and were forced into close-quarters combat, these dozen were no match for Li Mohan’s five men.
Li Mohan glanced at the two battlefields, not paying them much attention. Instead, he focused all his energy on Ye Huohuo behind him.
Hearing her low groans of pain, which she tried to suppress, his fists clenched tightly at his sides.
“Don’t… don’t be angry. I’ll… I’ll scold that stupid girl for you later!” Nie Ming, standing on Li Mohan’s shoulder, felt his shoulders trembling slightly and thought he was angry with Ye Huohuo.
Nie Ming didn’t know what had happened between Ye Huohuo and Li Mohan. He only knew that Ye Huohuo had severed their karma thread. Seeing Li Mohan’s frantic search for his junior sister, he naturally assumed it was Ye Huohuo’s fault, and that she had acted impulsively and made a mistake.
To appease Li Monarch, and to pave the way for Ye Huohuo to reconnect their karma thread later, he, as the senior disciple, was truly worried.
He was a myna bird, with such a small head. Was it easy for him to handle such complicated emotional issues?
During the time Ye Huohuo was missing, Nie Ming had become quite familiar with Li Mohan and was even allowed to stand on his shoulder. Most importantly, Li Mohan allowed him to do so.
A tall, lean, and resolute man with a majestic black bird perched on his shoulder. Seen from behind, the picture was incredibly cool.
Both man and bird were incredibly handsome.
“Alright! Your backside is quite precious. I sewed over twenty stitches, using my best Heavenly Mountain Ice Silk. It’s guaranteed not to leave scars, but you can’t get it wet for three days to prevent infection!” Fang Fang’s voice sounded relaxed, indicating the minor surgery was a success.
Li Monarch turned around and saw Ye Huohuo struggling to stand up, leaning against a nearby tree. Beads of sweat from the pain still lingered on her face, and her loose hair was damp, sticking to her cheeks, making her look fragile.
She resembled a delicate vase placed precariously on the edge of a table, ready to shatter and fall to the ground at the slightest breeze.
Seeing her like this, Li Monarch felt an urge to lock her up at home, to prevent anyone from accidentally breaking her.
Fang Fang was a seasoned veteran of love affairs, and she immediately saw through the look in Li Monarch’s eyes, which was akin to wanting to devour Ye Huohuo. “Hey, I’m talking to you, Mr. Li. Go a little lighter next time you make love, be careful, don’t tear her wound!”
Her words were devastating. Ye Huohuo, who was just about to stand up, nearly fell back down. Even Li Monarch, with his eternally frozen face, showed a crack in his expression, a blush appearing.
The pure senior disciple was almost scared out of his wits. “Ah!” he cried out and shot into the sky, circling several times. If it weren’t for his concern for Ye Huohuo, he would have flown away in embarrassment long ago.
Ye Huohuo felt her face burning as if it could bake flatbread. She suppressed her urge to lash out at Fang Fang and squeezed out a few words from between her teeth, “You don’t want to find Li Hua’s body anymore, do you? So much nonsense.”
