Chapter 288 Appearance is a Reflection of the Heart

Other than the short trip to drop off the children, all other times were spent together in a confined space.

Ten mornings had to be spent this way, and she had practically become his exclusive chauffeur, hired for his service.

The atmosphere inside the car finally eased considerably, and the angry expressions on their faces slowly faded.

After a while, Qin Si Ye asked, "That policeman, Qin Hao Ming, do you know him?"

Hearing this, Shen Xi's heart jolted. She hadn't expected him to ask her such a question.

Last time at Illusion, the two had been at each other's throats for a long time. If she hadn't intervened, they might have come to blows.

"Yes," Shen Xi replied truthfully.

Qin Si Ye looked at her intently. "You haven't been back in the country for long. How do you know a policeman?"

"Do you remember the first time Chen Chen went to find you at Zhuo Sheng? I was so anxious that I lost my head and called the police in my haste. He was one of the officers who responded," Shen Xi glanced sideways at him and replied in a low voice.

So that was it. No wonder Zhao Ze had reported to him that day that two policemen had entered Zhuo Sheng Building with her. But he had blocked them downstairs later.

Seeing him lost in thought, Shen Xi, thinking he might have had some past conflict with Han Hao Ming, cautiously asked, "Why are you suddenly asking about him?"

"Last night, I saw him dining alone with Si Yue," Qin Si Ye's gaze was deep.

Upon hearing this, Shen Xi's eyes suddenly lit up, and a faint smile touched her lips. "Oh? They dined together yesterday?"

Qin Si Ye's expression turned slightly grim. "They met yesterday. Did you know?"

"When I left work yesterday, she hitched a ride with me to the South City Branch to deliver something for the hospital. As for how she met Han Hao Ming later and went out for dinner, I don't know," Shen Xi glanced at him from the corner of her eye.

Why did his expression look so displeased? Could it be that he didn't approve of their relationship?

The next second, Qin Si Ye asked with a serious expression, "How did they meet? What is their current status?"

Shen Xi's eyes flickered a few times. "They first met at the hospital when taking a CT scan for a patient with a fractured bone. As for their current status, I'm not too clear."

His asking this implied that Qin Si Yue hadn't told him about her liking Han Hao Ming, so she couldn't say anything either.

"It seems you've known about their relationship for a while?" Qin Si Ye continued to stare at her intently.

Shen Xi coughed lightly, not answering his question directly. Instead, she boldly retorted, "Mr. Qin, do you have some prejudice against Han Hao Ming because of that incident at Illusion?"

Hearing this, Qin Si Ye immediately retracted his gaze, looked into the distance at an unknown spot, and faintly replied with two words. "No."

Shen Xi's eyebrows slightly rose, and the corner of her lips curled up. Suddenly finding him interesting, she began to speak well of Han Hao Ming.

"Actually, Han Hao Ming is a very good person, and quite good-looking too. Although he's not eloquent, he's highly capable at work, very kind-hearted, hates evil, is upright, and his character is absolutely impeccable."

As she spoke each word with enthusiasm, she didn't notice that a thick layer of dark clouds had already gathered on the man beside her.

Why was she so animated when talking about other men, yet always so cold and distant towards him?

"Are you very familiar with him?" Qin Si Ye couldn't help but feel a wave of bitterness.

Shen Xi's heart gave a jolt, and she quickly replied, "Not at all. I've only met him two or three times in total. What I said above is all based on my observation of his facial features. Haven't you heard people say that the face reflects the heart?"

"Then what about me?" Qin Si Ye suddenly stared at her intently, his eyes filled with resentment. "We've been together for several months now. Haven't you seen through my inner self and character from my face?"

Shen Xi's heart was touched. She had merely found a phrase to cover up what she had just said, but she hadn't expected to be led onto this sensitive topic.

"You're different from him," Shen Xi replied evasively.

Qin Si Ye, however, was relentless. "How are we different? We're both men. Since you can see through him, you must be able to see through me too. Is there nothing good about me in your eyes?"

"Mr. Qin, it's not like that." Hearing this, Shen Xi suddenly shouted at him with some annoyance, "Can you please stop fixating on this issue?

What I said just now was just a wild guess. In reality, I don't understand Han Hao Ming at all, let alone infer a person's inner thoughts from their facial features."
