Chapter 344 Who Are Those Two People

The two finished their business and quickly left the room, stepping into the elevator.

“When will the bodyguards you hired arrive?” Shen Xi asked, glancing at Jian Fan.

Jian Fan had just received a message from them and immediately replied, “They’re already at the community entrance. I told them to wait until we leave before coming in.”

He still couldn’t figure out who those two men downstairs were.

If his bodyguards interacted with him after entering, and those two noticed anything suspicious, wouldn't his pretense of being Shen Xi's boyfriend be exposed?

“That’s good,” Shen Xi replied thoughtfully.

At that moment, the elevator doors opened. Shen Xi immediately slipped back into character, naturally linking her arm with Jian Fan’s.

They walked towards the car, exchanging playful banter and acting intimately.

Their act as a couple was so convincing that anyone who saw them would surely believe it.

After the car reached the main entrance, Jian Fan got out, whispered a few words to the two bodyguards he had hired, and then returned to the car. He asked, “Sister Xi, where are we going now? Directly back to K City?”

Shen Xi looked down at her watch; it was already one in the afternoon. “Let’s find a place to eat first.”

“Okay,” Jian Fan agreed, then turned to her with a smile. “Sister Xi, I didn’t expect things to go so smoothly today. Zheng Jinghe confessed everything so quickly.”

“It was mainly thanks to your knife,” Shen Xi teased with a smile.

“Ah. What a shame about my case of milk and box of fruit. I just bought them last night, and now Zheng Jinghe gets them.”

“I’ll make it up to you when we get back.”

“No need. I just feel he’s not worth it.”

“Think about the agency agreements he signed, and you’ll feel it was worth it,” Shen Xi said, a slight smile playing on her lips.

“That’s true. I just wonder if he’ll realize and try to contact the outside world,” Jian Fan said, sounding a little worried.

Shen Xi pondered for a moment. “I warned him just now, so he probably won’t.”

“Just to be safe, perhaps I should have those two bodyguards confiscate his phone and keep him from going downstairs temporarily, until everything is settled in K City,” Jian Fan suggested cautiously, his brow furrowed.

“Mhm. Good.” Shen Xi thought about it and agreed that Jian Fan’s consideration was very thorough.

After Jian Fan finished his phone call, he looked at Shen Xi with surprise. “It seems those two people sitting in the Audi were not Zheng Jinghe’s bodyguards.”

“Oh? How did you figure that out?” Shen Xi asked curiously.

“Our bodyguards said on the phone that the car drove away quickly as soon as they arrived.”

Jian Fan continued thoughtfully,

“I also looked downstairs several times from Zheng Jinghe’s living room, and they didn’t make any moves. Zheng Jinghe probably didn’t know those two were downstairs, otherwise, he wouldn’t have let us control him and would have tried his best to send them a distress signal.”

Shen Xi listened to Jian Fan’s well-reasoned analysis and couldn’t help but frown. “Then who were they? What were they doing there?”

She recalled that when they returned to the car to get their gifts, she had caught a glimpse out of the corner of her eye of those two people secretly watching them, and it seemed one of them had raised his phone.

“I can’t be sure right now. However, even if they weren’t Zheng Jinghe’s bodyguards, they should still be related to him.

Otherwise, it wouldn’t have been such a coincidence that they left as soon as our people arrived,” Jian Fan said, feeling a headache coming on, unable to fathom their purpose there.

In K City, in the office of Zhuo Sheng’s CEO, Qin Siye had just finished lunch with the city leaders and was anxiously calling Zhao Ze. “How is it going in Hai City?”

From morning until now, he had been by the city leaders’ side and had no time to inquire about Shen Xi’s situation.

He had been feeling uneasy all along.

“Oh, I was just about to report to you. Miss Shen has already left the house where Zheng Jinghe lives. She looks like she’s in good spirits, so she should have found the answers she was looking for,” Zhao Ze said in a relaxed tone.

“That’s good. I asked you to have the bodyguards take a few photos of them arriving, did you take them? Send them to my WeChat in a moment,” Qin Siye said, then quickly hung up and opened WeChat to wait.

It had been more than ten hours since they parted on bad terms last night, and Qin Siye had been feeling guilty the entire time.

Although he knew from Zhao Ze’s earlier words that she was in relatively good spirits, he still really wanted to see her.

At this moment, Zhao Ze was like an ant on a hot pan, pacing around anxiously. He was sifting through the photos sent by the bodyguards with one hand, unsure which one to send.
