Su Chengyu still didn't answer her question. Instead, he stood up and walked around the room.
"Your work environment is quite nice. The chief Chinese physician of Ankang certainly has excellent benefits."
Shen Xi didn't respond to his words but cast him a stern glance. "What exactly are you here for today? If you're here for treatment, answer my questions quickly. If it's anything else, please leave. This is not a place for Young Master Su to amuse himself."
"You're such a bore, too rigid," Su Chengyu chuckled, then sat back down on the stool. "No matter what, we're acquainted friends. Can't we chat a bit while you're seeing me?"
Upon hearing this, Shen Xi sat up straight and swept a cold gaze over him before returning her attention to the computer. "Please don't misunderstand, Mr. Su. We are not friends. We are merely strangers who have met a few times."
Su Chengyu, with a fake smile, asked, "Then who are your friends? Qin Si Ye."
Every time she heard him address Qin Si Ye by name, Shen Xi felt a pang of annoyance. She couldn't help but look up and remind him, "Don't keep calling him Qin Si Ye. He's your cousin."
Su Chengyu scoffed, "What? You're so protective of him? You're not his girlfriend, what right do you have to say that to me?"
Giving him a fierce glare, Shen Xi suddenly regretted saying that earlier. What reason was there to talk to such a despicable person?
"What exactly are you here for? If you're not here to see a doctor, please leave. I need to see the next patient."
As Shen Xi spoke, she reached for the call machine.
"Wait, of course, I'm here to see a doctor." Su Chengyu immediately stood up and reached out to stop her.
Just as his hand was about to touch her, Shen Xi quickly pulled her hand back, grabbed a pen, and lowered her head, hiding her inner turmoil.
"Tell me, where do you feel unwell?"
At this moment, she truly wished she could quickly escort this loathsome man out. However, she was a doctor, and he was a patient who had specifically booked her specialist appointment. Out of professional ethics, she could only brace herself and examine him.
Su Chengyu noticed her anger and, to avoid being forcibly removed, chose to cooperate, saying casually, "Headache."
"How does it hurt? Is it a sharp pain or a dull ache?" Shen Xi asked matter-of-factly, looking at the computer.
Su Chengyu thought for a moment. "A dull ache."
"How has your rest been lately?"
"A bit of insomnia."
"Do you drink often?"
"Yes, almost every day."
A moment later, Shen Xi took a slip from the printer and handed it to him. "Go get an electroencephalogram first."
"Huh? An EEG? You're a Chinese medicine practitioner. Shouldn't you be able to diagnose the illness through observation, listening, questioning, and palpation? Why do you need to use instruments to determine it?" Su Chengyu took the slip, looking at her with confusion. He had come here today not just for medical treatment, but specifically to see her. On the way, he had been imagining what it would be like to have skin contact with her during his examination. He was disappointed that there was no such process.
Shen Xi looked up coldly and said, "That was in ancient times. With these high-tech instruments available now, why wouldn't we use them?" She then pressed the call machine.
Hearing the name of the next patient announced, Su Chengyu had no choice but to leave the room to get the EEG.
Half an hour later, when he knocked on Shen Xi's office door again, he saw an elderly woman being helped out. Shen Xi was tidying up her acupuncture supplies. He quickly walked over and handed her the examination report. "Shen Xi, the results are out. Take a look. How is it?"
Glancing back at him with cold eyes, Shen Xi remained silent. Su Chengyu's heart skipped a beat, and he immediately corrected himself, "I misspoke earlier. It's Dr. Shen."
"Just put it on the desk. I'll look at it later." Shen Xi, with her back to him, continued to tidy her things.
Two minutes later, Shen Xi walked over, picked up the examination slip, and skimmed through it. "There's nothing serious. It's just insufficient cerebral blood supply caused by lack of sleep. You'll improve with more rest."
Her words were so casual that Su Chengyu felt as if she were just trying to dismiss him. He asked anxiously, "Dr. Shen, aren't you being a bit irresponsible by saying that? How can it be nothing serious? My headache is getting worse and worse."
