Jian Fan's heart skipped a beat. Reflexively, he hid the phone behind his back, "Yifei, what are you doing here?"
"If I wasn't here, how could I catch you, the traitor?" Xie Yifei slowly walked towards him, asking with immense disappointment.
"What traitor? I don't understand what you're saying." Jian Fan nervously took a step back, his heart pounding.
How could he have been so careless? He shouldn't have chosen this place to answer the phone.
Xie Yifei said sadly, "That call just now was from Song Kaicheng, wasn't it? You were reporting Qin Siye's itinerary to him."
Although she hadn't heard Jian Fan's first words, from the tone of his subsequent conversation, she could tell it was Song Kaicheng.
"No... no, it wasn't." Jian Fan was very flustered, but still denied it, continuing to retreat.
Xie Yifei, however, wouldn't let it go and insisted on taking his phone to check, "Give me your phone."
Jian Fan was a whole head taller than Xie Yifei. He held the phone high, and despite jumping several times, Xie Yifei couldn't reach it.
She became flustered, her face flushing red with anger. Her eyes turned bloodshot as she glared at him, tears instantly streaming down her fair cheeks.
Seeing this, Jian Fan panicked. He immediately handed the phone to her, "Yifei, don't cry, here you go."
Xie Yifei took the phone, scrolled through the call history, and saw the name "Mr. Song." She held it up to him, tears welling in her eyes, shaking her head. "Now what... what else do you have to say?
Jian Fan, you've disappointed me so much. I told you long ago not to get involved in their affairs, but you completely ignored me.
Qin Siye saved me, you know that. Yet, you betray him like this. Where does that leave me?"
"No, Yifei, it's not what you think. I..." Jian Fan was at a loss for words, unsure how to respond to her angry and sad expression.
"What about 'I'! I must have been blind to fall for someone like you. I think... I think we should break up." Xie Yifei suddenly interrupted him, saying it with almost complete finality.
Hearing this, Jian Fan's heart jolted. He immediately reached out and pulled her into his arms, holding her tightly. "No. Yifei, I don't want to break up with you. Please, don't do this, okay? I have my reasons, let me explain."
Just then, Jian Fan's phone rang again. Xie Yifei forcefully broke free from him and looked down. It was Qin Siye.
She handed the phone to him and said coldly, "Turn on the speaker."
Jian Fan took the phone with slightly trembling hands and obediently did as she said. "Hello? Mr. Qin."
"Jian Fan, do you know where Song Kaicheng lives?" Qin Siye's voice was somewhat anxious as he asked directly.
Jian Fan couldn't help but exchange a glance with Xie Yifei, surprised by his question.
"Mr. Qin, where are you now?"
"In Country B." Qin Siye's voice was low, hiding nothing from him.
Jian Fan's heart tightened. He looked up and met Xie Yifei's sharp, cold gaze, which seemed to say: Tell him the address quickly, to redeem yourself, or I'll do as I say.
Hastily lowering his head, Jian Fan reported the specific location of Song Kaicheng's villa.
As soon as the call ended, Xie Yifei warned him in a threatening tone, "If you dare to report Qin Siye's trip to Country B to Song Kaicheng, I will disappear from your world."
With that, she turned and ran out.
"Yifei, don't go. Can you please let me explain properly?" Jian Fan stood stunned for a second before quickly chasing after her.
In City H, Country B, Shen Xi felt exhausted both physically and mentally upon returning to the villa and slept through the afternoon.
She was only woken by a servant at dinner time.
After dinner, Mei Yun took her for a walk in the courtyard. They chatted as they walked, mostly about the children.
They talked about everything from their birth to the little things during their growth.
"They were so tiny when they were born. Holding them in my arms, it felt like holding three little kittens," Mei Yun said with a smile.
Images of the three little ones flashed before her eyes.
"Yes, especially Shuoshuo. He was born with a weak constitution and was often ill. It's all thanks to you that I had so much help.
Otherwise, how could he be in the condition he is today," Shen Xi said, holding Mei Yun's hand with emotion.
Mei Yun stopped and looked at her with a gentle expression. "I helped you at first out of gratitude to Kaicheng. Later, gradually, I came to regard you and the children as family."
