Chapter 65 Quietly Standing Up for Her

“What can’t be discussed indoors?” Qin Si Ye asked as they walked into the backyard.

Qin Si Yue, her face flushed with anger, recounted the day's events to her brother in meticulous detail.

“Brother, why are those doctors in the Traditional Chinese Medicine department so awful? Especially Yuan Li, she's so arrogant and overbearing, and she’s still unhappy about Gu Lin’s punishment. Sister Xi encountered such a thing on her first day at work, how could she not be upset? If it were me, I wouldn’t have let Yuan Li off so easily.”

Qin Si Ye’s gaze deepened, and after a long moment, he asked in a low voice, “Are you two injured?”

“No. With me here, how could we get injured? Yuan Li, on the other hand, was quite injured. She brought it upon herself.” Remembering the injuries Yuan Li sustained on her body and face, Qin Si Yue smiled with a raised eyebrow.

Taking out a cigarette, Qin Si Ye slowly lit it, taking a drag and exhaling a wisp of white smoke.

Qin Si Yue looked at him and said softly, “Brother, ever since I started working at Ankang Hospital, I’ve never asked you for any favors. This time, I want to ask you to step in and curb Yuan Li’s arrogance, to have the hospital transfer her to another department. Otherwise, Sister Xi won’t have peace while working there.”

Qin Si Ye looked into the distance, then replied after a while, “You go inside first, I’ll have a cigarette.”

Although he didn't directly answer whether he would help, Qin Si Yue knew her brother wouldn't ignore such a matter. After all, Shen Xi was currently hired to treat their grandmother, making her one of their own. And her brother valued this point the most.

After Qin Si Yue returned indoors, Qin Si Ye called Gu Lin.

“Hello? Si Ye, why are you calling me at this hour?” Gu Lin’s voice carried a hint of joy.

Qin Si Ye, however, didn't beat around the bush. He got straight to the point: “Did you handle the day’s events like that?”

Upon hearing this, Gu Lin immediately understood what he was referring to; Qin Si Yue must have told him everything. Had he not handled it well? Why did he detect a tone of accusation in his words?

“What? Are you not satisfied?” Gu Lin retorted.

Qin Si Ye’s voice was low, “Does a woman like that have the right to be a doctor?”

“Are you saying the hospital should fire her?” Gu Lin asked, frowning.

“Full of jealousy, slandering others, and physically assaulting colleagues in public. Does such a person deserve to be a doctor?” Qin Si Ye didn't answer his question directly but listed Yuan Li’s character flaws and mistakes.

“But she has connections, and firing her is difficult,” Gu Lin hesitated. Yuan Li’s uncle was one of the hospital’s shareholders, and she had gotten her job at Ankang Hospital through this connection.

“If it's difficult for you, then I'll have Zhao Ze make a trip tomorrow. He can talk to Bai Yong Jun and buy Ankang Hospital directly,” Qin Si Ye’s voice was steady and deep, clearly not joking. With his financial resources, buying Ankang Hospital would be an easy feat.

His heart jolted, Gu Lin quickly replied, “Alright, alright, we’ll do as you say. President Bai is out of town and will be back tomorrow. After I consult with him, I will definitely handle this matter to your satisfaction.”

After a pause, Gu Lin’s lips curved upwards. “Si Ye, you’re protecting Shen Xi so much, do you have feelings for her?”

“Don’t spout nonsense,” Qin Si Ye’s tone held a hint of anger. “I don’t want her to be upset by work matters and unable to fully dedicate herself to treating my grandmother.”

Gu Lin smiled inwardly. “Okay. After all, you always find the right reason for whatever you do.”

The Qin family was gathered around the table. Just as they finished dinner, Shen Xi arrived. Seeing Qin Si Ye also present, Shen Xi was slightly surprised and nodded in greeting.

As Qin Si Yue had said, Shen Xi was very quiet this time at the Qin family’s home, her gaze filled with a clear sense of distance.
