Shen Xi glanced at him and put her phone away, remaining silent.
After a moment of eye contact, Qin Si Ye spoke, "It's too late now, finding a designated driver to take you back isn't very safe. Why don't you ride with me?"
His voice was noticeably softer than before.
Shen Xi hesitated for a moment, then remembered she had something to give him and agreed to get in his car.
Both sitting in the back seat, Qin Si Ye told the driver in front, "Go to Hua Ban Li."
Catching the strong smell of alcohol emanating from the man, the scene of him being drunk last time flashed before her eyes again.
A sense of caution immediately arose in Shen Xi's heart, and she couldn't help but shift to the other side.
If she had known he had drunk so much, she wouldn't have gotten into his car.
However, it was good that there was a driver in front; he probably wouldn't do anything out of line.
Moreover, judging by his relatively clear state, he probably hadn't drunk as much as that day.
Qin Si Ye's peripheral vision caught her movement, and a sense of frustration welled up in his heart.
Did she detest him that much?
"Mr. Qin, how is the injury on your arm? Did you change the dressing in time?" Shen Xi asked softly, breaking the silence.
What was meant as a perfectly ordinary question of concern ignited Qin Si Ye's anger once again.
"You don't need to worry about it, it's already healed."
Healed? So quickly?
It seemed this man's body was indeed very resilient; wounds healed automatically within two to three days.
Shen Xi lowered her head and took out a passbook savings deposit slip from her bag, handing it to him. "This is an 8,000 yuan passbook savings deposit slip. You don't need a password; you can withdraw it directly at the bank counter. The accommodation fee that night was 7,800 yuan, plus the supplies I bought later, it's almost exactly 8,000 yuan."
Looking at her with cold, dark eyes, Qin Si Ye took the deposit slip, glanced at it without even looking, and tore it forcefully in half.
"You think I'm short of this 8,000 yuan?"
Shen Xi never expected him to tear it up so readily. Her small face flushed red, and she reached out, trying to snatch it back. She had queued at the bank for over an hour to get this deposit slip; how could he tear it up so easily?
But the man raised his hand, holding it high, preventing her from touching it. Shen Xi leaned forward, missed, and suddenly lost her balance, her head hitting Qin Si Ye's left arm.
Immediately, Qin Si Ye let out a muffled groan. Shen Xi was startled, realizing then that she had touched his wound.
Repeatedly saying "I'm sorry," she tried to find support to stand up in her panic, but her small hand brushed against a place it shouldn't have.
The man's body stiffened, and he let out a louder groan.
Shen Xi broke out in a cold sweat, quickly retracting her small hand, only to then tumble into his firm chest with a gasp.
The driver in front had no idea what was happening behind him, only hearing the heart-pounding sounds that made one blush. He held his breath, kept his eyes straight ahead, and pretended to be invisible.
Shen Xi's small hands flailed, and the more she tried to get up, the more she couldn't. She was so flustered that tears were about to fall.
After a slight adjustment, Qin Si Ye reached out and helped her up.
Their eyes met. Qin Si Ye stared at her intently, his Adam's apple bobbing slightly.
Shen Xi's face turned red, tears welling in her eyes, and she quickly sat upright to the side.
She turned her small face towards the window, not daring to look at him.
Qin Si Ye took a deep breath, the corners of his lips curving upwards slightly. His anger seemed to have dissipated considerably.
He said slowly, "If you really want to repay me, then just keep it in mind and deduct it from meals."
Upon hearing this, Shen Xi frowned, wondering what he meant by that. Did he want her to treat him to a meal?
However, that would be fine; at least she wouldn't owe him a favor.
"Okay," Shen Xi replied softly, still looking out the window.
When they arrived in front of Villa Number 3, Hua Ban Li, Shen Xi said, "Thank you," and quickly got out of the car, walking towards her home without looking back.
