Chapter 131 A Reaction

Shen Xi’s small face flushed crimson, all the way to the tips of her ears. Fortunately, she was wearing a mask; otherwise, she would have been utterly mortified.

“Sorry, I wasn’t paying attention. The alcohol touched your wound. Don’t be nervous; I’ll clean the wound with iodine now.”

She hastily straightened up, picked up another cotton swab, and dipped it in iodine solution, continuing to apply it.

“It’s fine.” Qin Si Ye slowly raised his head, looking at the woman before him.

She was so close now, her damp, disheveled hair falling down from around her ears. Her delicate face, fair swan-like neck, and the hint of her collarbone were a direct hit to his heart.

Suddenly, he felt a strange heat in his body; a certain part of him had reacted.

Damn it, what was happening to him?

She was Yin Xi’s cousin, and such a thing absolutely could not happen.

Qin Si Ye immediately averted his gaze, closed his eyes, and gently regulated his emotions.

Two minutes later, Shen Xi’s voice sounded in his ear, “All done.”

Qin Si Ye opened his eyes and saw a rectangular bandage on his left arm.

“Thank you.”

“You’re welcome. You were injured saving me, so I should be thanking you,” Shen Xi said with a smile as she tidied up the medical supplies.

Qin Si Ye looked at her with complex eyes, “But you were implicated because of me.”

“Then we’re even,” Shen Xi said. As soon as she finished speaking, she suddenly sneezed violently, lost her balance, and pitched forward.

Qin Si Ye quickly stood up and reached out his right hand to steady her. “Caught a cold? I told you, you should have gone back for a hot bath first.”

Easy for him to say. A bath was easy to take, but what about afterward? She had no clothes to change into; she couldn’t possibly come to clean and bandage his wound wearing a bathrobe.

“It’s fine.” Shen Xi straightened up and took a step back. “I’ll be going back then. Remember, the wound cannot get wet.”

Qin Si Ye watched her leave the room, then strode into the bathroom. Ten minutes later, he emerged wearing a gray bathrobe, feeling much more relaxed.

Just then, his phone rang. It was Zhao Ze.

After they spoke, Qin Si Ye told him the room number.

A short while later, Zhao Ze knocked on the door and brought in his luggage.

Qin Si Ye opened the suitcase and took out a casual outfit. “How is Chen Fa doing now?”

“He’s still unconscious. The hospital reports say he’s very likely to become a vegetative state,” Zhao Ze replied with a helpless expression.

“Oh? That serious? Qin Si Ye stood up. “How did he get into a car accident? Have the police investigated and found anything?”

“The police’s conclusion is that it was a simple traffic accident, and the driver has been apprehended,” Zhao Ze paused slightly and continued, “However, while we were tracking him, we noticed another car ahead that seemed to be chasing him.”

“Oh?” Qin Si Ye frowned. “And then?”

Zhao Ze replied, “When the accident happened, that car merely paused for a moment before quickly driving away. I was puzzled at the time and had someone check the car’s license plate. It was a local car from Xicheng, and nothing unusual was found. Perhaps I was overthinking it.”

“Alright, I understand. Don’t worry about that person for now. Our focus remains on Chen Fa. A person in a vegetative state will wake up eventually. Send more people to take turns staking out the hospital. As soon as he wakes up, you must force him to reveal the truth from back then,” Qin Si Ye said, then took his clothes and went into the walk-in closet.

Two minutes later, Qin Si Ye emerged, impeccably dressed. Zhao Ze frowned, “It’s so late, President. Are you going out?”

“No. I’m just going next door. Doctor Shen is over there.” Qin Si Ye paused as he was about to step out.

“Also, have someone investigate who those men in black at Dark Fragrance Bar today were, and who their boss is?”
