Chapter 175: Chapter 175: Vlad
"Process it; we need to take back some samples for the military base to gauge if this meat is edible," Silas ordered as he dissected the boar while keeping an eye on his surroundings.
Since they used a superpower to deal with the mutated beast, it didn’t reek of blood, and the stench emitted by the boar could keep away the zombies.
However, Silas knew that the charred skin of the boar might attract some attention, not to mention the agonizing roar let out by the boar might attract a few zombies.
"Stay on alert; a few zombies might be heading our direction," Silas warned.
"Yes." The team replied simultaneously. Henry stared at the crystal that Silas had dug out from the boar’s head and asked, "Boss, what are those? Are they similar to zombie crystals? But then why are their sizes so huge?"
The crystal in Silas’s hand was as big as a baby’s fist and was emitting a faint white glow.
Silas surmised, "If my guess is not wrong, then it’s a space crystal, only... it contains a large amount of energy compared to the space crystals obtained from zombies."
"Ohh..." Henry’s eyes sparkled; he asked no further question and then focused on the boar instead, while a few others started to fend off against the zombies that had finally arrived after the little conversation between Silas and Henry had ended.
After the team cleared up their surrounding area, all of them were hungry.
Silas took out the instant noodles hoarded by his family. Honestly, his family had hoarded only a few types of items and staple foods like rice, instant noodles, and canned foods, and hence, for the past few days, they hardly had any fresh vegetable dishes to eat.
After eating a pack of instant noodles, the team sighed, and the discussion shifted to food.
"I wish for chicken dishes... it has been a while since I had Kung-po chicken... sigh!" Chloe muttered dreamily.
"Ratatouille... Ratatouille... if only I knew that an apocalypse was going to arrive... I would have hoarded canned ratatouille." Amelia closed her eyes in despair.
"Pizza! I need a pizza!" Scarlett wished desperately.
"I want to eat fish curry, fish fry, fish tikka, grilled salmon, caviar, ah! I am going crazy!" Jack weaved his finger in his hair, frustrated.
Aiden didn’t participate, but he, too, wanted to eat some high-protein salads made by his chef. Since he focused a lot on his diet, he had hired a chef who excelled in making delicious salads.
Arial wanted to drink vegetable soup. In the cold weather, she preferred to carry vegetable soup and meat soup along with wine. She was a die-hard fan of soup.
Hearing their carvings, Silas suddenly remembered the fish curry that Ivy had made and gulped. Ivy’s food was truly delicious. It had a hint of professionalness.
And though Ivy claimed that the food he made was appetizing, his cooking only had a homely flavor.
Suddenly, he remembered Ivy’s slender figure and began to feel anxious.
’God knows if she is eating on time or not... what if she is upset to the point of skipping the food? No! That won’t be good. This plan can’t go. I can’t bear to torment her to the point she stops eating food!’
Silas started to regret his plan. He wanted to draw Ivy closer to him in order to protect her more effectively, but ultimately, if she missed even one meal, his plan would be futile.
’After returning, it’s better if I just expose the plan.’
With that thought, Silas messaged Patricia to withdraw completely and stated that Talia would give her the payment. He also left a message for Talia and then put away his phone.
"We will soon reach the Brochill mountain area and have to leave our car. To reach the food reservoir on foot, we will need 4 days, so prepare the supplies, and don’t carry anything heavy. Focus on light weapons, and wear the protective suits. Once Vlad reaches the location, we depart for the food reservoirs." Silas instructed.
Vlad was a retired external soldier Silas had kept in touch with, and after the arrival of the apocalypse, he had awakened a space superpower.
Since Silas didn’t trust anyone in the military, he didn’t take any space superhuman with him and instead turned to Vlad for help.
"How long will it take for Vlad to reach here?" Henry asked worriedly, Staying in the forest during a zombie apocalypse was just like courting death; however, they were truly out of options.
An earthquake had happened in the area near the Brochill mountains, and the roads were in disrepair. Now they could only take the routes of the forest, which, though severely affected, wasn’t as bad as the road.
"Most likely by midnight," Silas explained, estimating based on the last conversation he had with Vlad.
"Henry, I have a question for you," Jack said, and Henry raised an eyebrow, as if motioning him to continue.
"What will the mountain speak if it can?" He asked mysteriously.
Baffled, Henry asked, "What?"
"Bro, chill! Haha!" Jack laughed.
Others: "..." Wow. What a lame joke.
..............
Unaware of Silas’s mission, Ivy primarily focused on building her base more securely.
With the soldiers hired and the water and food supply decided, she now wanted to focus on the electronics supplies that needed to be installed and hoarded.
She knew about the natural disasters, but others didn’t. For them, in the apocalypse, the most useless thing was electronic supplies, as the electricity was slowly getting cut off.
Who would bother about hoarding electronic items when food had become the biggest necessity?
But Ivy, with a huge space in Temporal Storage and an unlimited supply of food, had the idea of hoarding them. Her base will eventually grow large, while the apocalypse might take a century or so to be over.
It is better if she salvage as many things as she can, like machines, etc.
’Hm... if my supplies-picking superpower can give me medicine, can it someday give me iron ore too?’
