“Right!”
Immediately, Wan Yunting asked, “Where is Feng Le’an?”
“Oh, him. He disappeared after graduation. I guess he went back to his hometown county to develop.”
Jin Xiuwen remembered Feng Le’an, the honest and simple fellow among their four roommates back then. “That kid never really fit in with us, so I haven’t kept track of him these past few years.”
Wan Yunting nodded, guessing, “You think he might know about this?”
Jin Xiuwen blinked. “You mean Chen Tao approached him too?”
Wan Yunting nodded. “Back then, you, me, and Huang Dawei were the closest. Feng Le’an was our roommate, but his relationship with us was very distant. If I were Chen Tao, I would definitely choose him!”
“That’s right.”
Upon hearing this, Jin Xiuwen became excited. “No wonder when you got into trouble, Feng Le’an was obviously acting strange those few days. Chen Tao must have gone to him first. When he refused, Chen Tao then found Huang Dawei to drug you!”
Wan Yunting nodded. “Regardless, we have to find him and ask. If it’s true, he’ll be my only witness to clear my name!”
“Okay, I’ll ask other classmates tomorrow for his contact information…”
After chatting for a while, Jin Xiuwen sobered up and drove home.
Wan Yunting didn’t go back. Instead, he took out his phone, walked towards the roadside, and dialed a strange number. After two rings, the call was answered, and a voice asked in English, “Hello, who is this?”
“It’s me, Wan Yunting!” The reply was also in fluent English.
Far away in Wall Street, USA, in a spacious and luxurious office of a commercial building, a young man in a suit with a stylish hairstyle shot up from his seat upon hearing the name. His face was filled with joy, and he switched to Chinese excitedly, “Teacher, you’re out of prison?”
“Yes, I had good behavior, and my sentence was reduced by half a year, so I got out early.”
Wan Yunting smiled and said to him, “I saw the news yesterday. You’re now known as the ‘Wolf of Wall Street’ in the financial investment community. It seems you’ve made great progress in these three years!”
“Hehe.”
Jiang Wenhao walked onto the office balcony, gazing at the towering buildings of Wall Street. “Teacher, if you hadn’t encouraged and guided me in prison all those years ago, I, Jiang Wenhao, wouldn’t have achieved what I have today!”
“This is the result of your hard work.”
Wan Yunting smiled, remembering the passionate young man he’d discussed stocks and business with in prison a few years prior.
“Teacher, I’ll come back to see you right away. I believe that in time, you will surely become the new legend of Wall Street!” Jiang Wenhao was excited. He had been impressed by Wan Yunting’s business acumen when they met in prison and had thus recognized him as his teacher.
The reason he had become the ‘Wolf of Wall Street’ was that for the past three years, Wan Yunting had been guiding him step by step from behind the scenes, allowing him to establish a foothold in the financial center of Wall Street.
“Don’t come back for now. The time is not yet right!”
Wan Yunting’s lips curled upwards, as he was waiting for an opportunity, an opportunity that would shock everyone!
“Alright, I’ll await your command…”
Jiang Wenhao nodded. Years ago in prison, he and Wan Yunting had made a pact to create a business empire together.
“By the way, help me investigate the Chen Corporation in Huadu City.” Wan Yunting added.
“Chen Corporation, could it be…”
“Yes, report to me immediately when you have results,” Wan Yunting said expressionlessly.
“Understood.”
Jiang Wenhao’s expression turned serious. He knew that Wan Yunting had been framed and imprisoned.
“Then, that’s all for now.”
With that, Wan Yunting hung up the phone. He intended to use Jiang Wenhao to investigate Chen Tao’s Chen Corporation and see if there were any issues with his company!
After finishing a cigarette, Wan Yunting went into the hospital and headed back to the dormitory.
To his surprise, Su Ke’er was standing outside his room door. Seeing him return, she flew towards him happily, “Finished chatting?”
“Yes. You haven’t gone upstairs to sleep yet.”
It was obvious that this girl had been waiting for him to return.
“I don’t want to sleep,” Su Ke’er pouted, looking very cute.
This made Wan Yunting shake his head and smile. He took out his key and opened the door. Su Ke’er immediately darted inside, looking around. The room was really clean, so she unceremoniously sat on Wan Yunting’s iron bed, propping her chin with her hand and adopting an attentive posture. “Brother Yunting, can you tell me about your past?”
Wan Yunting sat on a chair, looking at the lively and adorable girl. She was probably the first friend he had made since his release from prison.
“Okay, I’ll tell you…”
So, Wan Yunting began to recount his past experiences. Su Ke’er listened very attentively, like a dedicated listener, occasionally gasping. When she heard that Fang Yanxi didn’t believe him, she felt indignant on Wan Yunting’s behalf, and gradually became engrossed in the story…
By the time Wan Yunting finished speaking, Su Ke’er had already fallen asleep on the bed.
This left him feeling helpless. He glanced at the time and realized it was already past one in the morning. Seeing the girl sleeping so soundly, he couldn’t bring himself to wake her.
Wan Yunting carefully removed her shoes, placed her legs on the bed, and pulled up the quilt. Once he was sure everything was alright, he left the room, closing the door behind him. He then went around to the hospital’s back garden and sat on a lounge chair, meditating and practicing his breathing exercises…
In the blink of an eye, morning arrived.
Wan Yunting felt invigorated rather than tired after meditating all night. He checked the time, thinking that Su Ke’er, who was sleeping in his room, should be awake by now.
“Ke’er, why are you coming out of that rapist’s room?”
Several nurses were coming downstairs to start their shifts when they saw Su Ke’er sneakily emerging from Wan Yunting’s room, and they caught her red-handed.
“You, you weren’t with him last night, were you?”
“No, no, we weren’t…”
Caught, Su Ke’er’s pretty face flushed red, and she became so nervous she didn’t know how to explain. She hadn’t expected to sleep in Wan Yunting’s room last night.
“Oh, it’s just not what you think…” Seeing that she couldn’t explain, Su Ke’er covered her face and quickly ran back upstairs to the dormitory.
The gossipy nurses then spread the news throughout the hospital.
Wan Yunting, upon returning, saw that Su Ke’er was not in his room and assumed she had woken up and gone to work, so he didn’t pay it any mind.
He took a shower, changed his clothes, and then headed directly to the Traditional Chinese Medicine department.
He wondered when the health administrative department would send his physician’s qualification certificate.
Jiang Yichun and Li Chengde also arrived. After greeting each other, they sat down for tea and casual conversation.
Shortly after, Lin Si pushed Fang Shoushan in. Wan Yunting proceeded to treat him with acupuncture for his legs.
An hour later, after removing the needles, Wan Yunting observed that Fang Shoushan could already move his feet, indicating that his recovery was faster than expected.
“Old Sir, with two more acupuncture treatments, you should be able to walk,” Wan Yunting said with a smile.
“Haha, that’s great.”
Fang Shoushan was overjoyed and praised Wan Yunting profusely, making him feel a bit embarrassed.
Just then, his phone rang. Seeing that it was his second brother, Wan Yunting immediately answered. Before he could speak, Wan Dongming’s anxious voice came through, “Something’s wrong, third brother! Your second sister-in-law had an accident!”
Wan Yunting was taken aback and asked, “What happened?”
Wan Dongming, standing outside the emergency room of the First People’s Hospital, said anxiously, “Your second sister-in-law suddenly said she felt uncomfortable in her heart this morning, and she’s been rushed into emergency treatment by the doctors. Third brother, hurry over…”
“Second brother, don’t worry, I’m on my way.”
Wan Yunting soothed him and hung up the phone. He then said to Jiang Yichun, “Director Jiang, I need to go out for a moment. My second sister-in-law is seriously ill.”
“Alright, go quickly,” Director Jiang nodded. Fang Shoushan also urged him to go.
Wan Yunting left the Traditional Chinese Medicine department, drove his second brother’s car, and rushed towards the First People’s Hospital.
Wan Dongming, pacing anxiously in the corridor outside the emergency room, was worried. The doctors had been inside for half an hour, and he didn’t know how Wang Chulin was doing.
“Useless! Chulin was fine, how did she suddenly take a turn for the worse?”
Zheng Peihui, dressed as a wealthy lady, and Wang Anrong hurried over.
“I don’t know, the doctors haven’t come out yet.”
Wan Dongming shook his head, accustomed to the insult of being called useless.
“She was fine after taking the medicine prescribed by Divine Doctor Zhou last night, wasn’t she?”
Zheng Peihui and Wang Anrong were extremely anxious. Suddenly, she said to Wan Dongming, “Did you give Chulin medicine prescribed by your rapist brother?”
“No.”
Wan Dongming jumped up as if his tail had been stepped on. “Chulin only took the herbal decoction you brought; she didn’t take what my third brother prescribed.”
“Impossible! Doctor Zhou’s medicines are made with precious herbs. How could something go wrong? It must be you!”
Zheng Peihui insisted, refusing to believe Wan Dongming, and thought he had secretly given their daughter medicine prescribed by Wan Yunting.
“I’ll call Divine Doctor Zhou to come over…”
Zhou Fengnian, who was at his clinic, happily called out to his disciple upon receiving the call from Zheng Peihui, “Xiao Hao, grab the medical kit, we’ve got a job.”
The master and disciple then hurried to the hospital.
For a single case like this, Zhou Fengnian could earn hundreds of thousands from these wealthy individuals.
“Impossible, absolutely impossible! How could the medicine I, Zhou, prescribed have any problems!”
Upon arriving and understanding the situation, Zhou Fengnian, like Zheng Peihui, insisted that there was no issue with the medicine he prescribed.
He then said helplessly to Wan Dongming, “How could you give the patient two types of medicine together? You know that Chinese medicines can complement or counteract each other. If their properties conflict, it can cause serious problems, even death.”
Wan Dongming became agitated and argued loudly, “I didn’t! Chulin only took the medicine you prescribed, not my third brother’s. Your medicine is the problem…”
“Still arguing!”
Zheng Peihui pointed at Wan Dongming and scolded him, “You’ve always believed your rapist brother, saying his medical skills are superb, a great divine doctor. Now that Chulin is in trouble, you’re making excuses for him.”
“Useless, I’m telling you, if anything happens to Chulin, I won’t spare your scummy brother.”
Wan Dongming’s face contorted with anger, and he shouted at Zheng Peihui, “Mom, why don’t you believe me? It’s not my third brother’s fault…”
“You dare raise your voice at me!”
Zheng Peihui placed her hands on her hips, acting like a belligerent shrew. “You made a mistake but refuse to admit it, and now you have the nerve to get angry at me. Wan Dongming, believe it or not, I’ll have Chulin divorce you…”
“Enough, I’ve had enough.”
Wan Dongming clenched his fists tightly, and the anger he had suppressed for many years erupted instantly. “Ever since I joined your Wang family, everything I’ve done has been wrong in your eyes. You’ve always negated me!”
