“What…!”
Di She stared at Wan Yunting in disbelief…
“So that’s how it is.”
Meng Hu exclaimed as if he had just realized, sighing, “No wonder you suddenly wanted to take over Boss Ling’s position. You’re actually working for the police.”
Seeing Meng Hu’s crestfallen expression, Wan Yunting chuckled, “Are you disappointed?”
“Why, Boss Wan? Are you toying with us?”
Di She was still bewildered, unable to comprehend why Wan Yunting would act as a mole for the police.
“What, do you want to go back to prison to clean toilets?”
Wan Yunting turned to Di She and smiled, “Have you forgotten the advice I gave you when you were released from prison?”
Di She startled, then quickly shook his head, “No, no, no, I haven’t forgotten…”
When Di She was released, Wan Yunting had advised him to live a good life.
“You’ve long forgotten.”
Wan Yunting glanced at him. Meng Hu sighed helplessly, “Actually, I’ve been suspicious for a while. Boss Wan, being upright and a man of his word, once said he would never get involved in the underworld after his release. We were just too eager to follow you.”
Wan Yunting smiled sheepishly, “Tiger, I’m sorry to have brought you to this godforsaken place.”
Meng Hu waved his hands and smiled, “Boss Wan, you don’t have to say that. Really, the reason we’re willing to follow you is because we admire you as a person. It’s our honor to be led by you!”
“That’s right.”
Di She grinned, waving the pistol in his hand, “Let alone being a mole for you, Boss Wan, if you asked me to kill Pangka, I wouldn’t hesitate…”
Bang!
The next second, the pistol in Di She’s hand went off with a bang, startling Meng Hu and making him stare at Di She in shock…
Outside, Yang Dong, who was chatting with Xiong Hailu, was also jolted by the sudden shot. The armed men on both sides raised their guns toward Wan Yunting’s car.
“Damn it, you almost blew my brains out.”
Wan Yunting looked up at the bullet hole in the car roof and, enraged, kicked the passenger seat where Di She was sitting. Di She, looking embarrassed and scared, apologized, “I’m sorry, Boss Wan, the gun went off accidentally. It was unintentional…”
“What’s going on?”
Yang Dong quickly approached to inquire. Wan Yunting shot Di She a fierce glare before getting out of the car and forcing a smile at Yang Dong and Xiong Hailu, “Apologies, everyone. My brother’s gun just went off and startled everyone. Please don’t mind.”
Xiong Hailu squinted his eyes, sizing up Wan Yunting, who had a golden Desert Eagle holstered at his waist. He didn’t recognize him.
But he had heard Yang Dong mention earlier that he had brought a gang leader from China to attend Pangka’s trade fair.
Since this area was Xiong Hailu’s territory, he had set up checkpoints along the road.
“Come out and apologize to everyone.”
Wan Yunting angrily kicked the passenger door. Di She then got out, still holding his pistol, its muzzle pointed at Yang Dong and Xiong Hailu, scaring them into stepping back.
Wan Yunting glared angrily, went up, and smacked Di She on the back of the head, snatching the gun from him. “Damn it, if you don’t know how to use a gun, don’t carry one. Who are you pointing that at? Be careful Dong Ge and the others don’t shoot you.”
“Yes, yes, yes, Dong Ge, I was wrong…” Di She quickly nodded and apologized to Yang Dong and the others.
Wan Yunting handed Di She’s gun to Meng Hu. Seeing Di She’s clumsy behavior, Yang Dong and Xiong Hailu assumed the gun had truly misfired.
“Dong Ge, who is this Boss?”
Wan Yunting, feigning a playful and somewhat arrogant demeanor, looked at Xiong Hailu and said, “Won’t you introduce me to your brother?”
Yang Dong nodded, pointing to Xiong Hailu, “This is Xiong Hailu, Brother Xiong. He’s in charge of this region, and he’s also our fellow Chinese.”
“Brother Xiong, this is the Wan Yunting, Boss Wan, I told you about. He’s a rising leader in Huadu City, controlling three major districts,” Yang Dong also pointed to Wan Yunting, introducing him to Xiong Hailu.
“Wow, you’re so young, yet you’re the boss of three major districts in Huadu. Impressive,” Xiong Hailu said, his eyes lighting up as he smiled at Wan Yunting.
“Where did you hear that, Brother Xiong?”
Wan Yunting nodded, waved his hand, and smiled, “My little endeavors are nothing compared to you, Brother Xiong. I’m just a joke next to you.”
“Haha…”
Xiong Hailu laughed heartily, pointing at Wan Yunting and saying to Yang Dong, “I like this brother. He suits my taste.”
“Me too, Brother Xiong. We’re like long-lost brothers reunited,”
Wan Yunting stepped forward and hugged Xiong Hailu, looking as if they were long-lost brothers meeting after years apart.
“Brother Wan, I was just about to head to the Golden Triangle for Boss Peng’s trade fair. How about we travel together? We can look out for each other,” Xiong Hailu said, patting Wan Yunting on the shoulder with a smile. His sharp eyes hinted that this guy had ulterior motives!
“Sure.”
Wan Yunting agreed readily, which made Yang Dong raise an eyebrow, not understanding why he would agree to let Xiong Hailu join them.
“Good, then you can rest at my place for a bit. I’ll get ready, and we’ll depart soon.”
Xiong Hailu was pleased because he had just been packing to leave when they arrived.
“No problem.”
Wan Yunting nodded. Xiong Hailu waved his hand, and everyone got into their cars.
However, Yang Dong pulled Wan Yunting aside and asked in a low voice, “Why did you let him come along?”
“Let him come along. We can look out for each other on the road,”
Wan Yunting smiled, guessing Xiong Hailu’s intentions. However, agreeing to let him join was primarily to avoid suspicion!
Seeing his explanation, Yang Dong had nothing more to say, as he knew Wan Yunting’s identity, and Ye Jiao had also instructed him.
Yang Dong also understood that Ye Jiao’s initial claim of protecting Wan Yunting was for his future ability to treat her daughter.
But Ye Jiao’s true purpose was far more than just that!
Back in the car, Yang Dong also instructed the convoy to follow Xiong Hailu’s car back to their base temporarily…
“Tiger, I don’t want to force you. If you’re scared, you can get off the car later, and I’ll have Yang Dong send you back,” Wan Yunting said to Meng Hu, who was driving, and Di She.
“Where did you hear that, Boss Wan? Of course, we’re willing to go with you,”
Di She turned his head and smiled at Wan Yunting and Niu Qiuling, “Isn’t this me contributing to the country?”
“Yes.”
Niu Qiuling nodded. Wan Yunting smiled, “Did you hear that? Officer Niu said it counts.”
“Of course, I don’t approve of you continuing. After all, this is going to be a life-or-death situation, and I don’t want to risk my life for you,” Wan Yunting then said seriously.
He had deceived Meng Hu and Di She in the first place, and the road ahead would undoubtedly be more dangerous. If Meng Hu and Di She were to risk their lives for him, Wan Yunting would feel guilty.
“Boss Wan, since we followed you, we won’t turn back halfway,”
Meng Hu, driving, said without looking back, his tone firm, “Whether it’s being a mole for the police or eliminating the drug dealers in the Golden Triangle, we’re willing to do it with you!”
“That’s right.”
Di She also turned his head, his expression equally determined.
Wan Yunting frowned and fell into silent contemplation.
Niu Qiuling, sitting beside him, looked at him, greatly surprised. She didn’t expect Meng Hu and Di She, knowing their identities, to trust Wan Yunting so much and be willing to venture with him.
This made Niu Qiuling very curious. What kind of status did this guy hold in the hearts of Meng Hu and Di She that they were willing to follow him unconditionally?
