Chapter 405: 405: Not Quarreling with Children

Chapter 405: Chapter 405: Not Quarreling with Children

At the bathroom door.

Xiao Fei helplessly shook his head, a mix of exasperation and amusement in his eyes.

The busy days at work had finally allowed him and his wife, Tang Yuxin, a rare two-person world.

Taking advantage of this brief break, he eagerly pulled out his phone and dialed home, eager to know how the kids were doing.

The call connected quickly, and he heard his mother-in-law’s warm, chuckling voice over the receiver:

“You two just enjoy yourselves, leave the kids to us, we’ll take care of them perfectly!”

Xiao Fei held the phone close, not only hearing the babbling voices of his babies but also the faint chirping of chicks.

He could already imagine the warm scene, the little ones chasing the fluffy chicks in the yard, having a great time.

“Did the kids ask when we’re coming back?”

Xiao Fei couldn’t help but ask, his voice full of longing.

His mother-in-law laughed on the other end, “They mentioned it twice just after waking up, but now they’ve completely forgotten about you two.”

“Kids, once they start playing, they forget everything else.”

Listening to this, Xiao Fei felt both gratified and a bit disappointed.

Gratified that the kids were happy with their grandparents, yet disappointed that he seemed less essential in their minds.

He hung up the phone.

Just then, Tang Yuxin emerged gracefully from the bathroom in a delicate nightgown.

She gently toweled her wet long hair while curiously asking, “Husband, who were you calling just now?”

Xiao Fei stepped forward with gentle, loving eyes, taking the towel from her hand, saying:

“I called Mom to ask about the kids.”

“Mom said they mentioned us in the morning but are too busy playing to think about their parents now.”

Tang Yuxin, picking up on the slight trace of jealousy in Xiao Fei’s tone, couldn’t help but laugh and comfort him:

“They’re just kids, how can you take it to heart?”

“Maybe they’ll tire out soon and start crying for mom and dad.”

Seeing his gentle and lovely wife, Xiao Fei tenderly teased, “How could I, being an adult, take it to heart with kids? But as for someone else, I might just need to ‘settle the scores’.”

Tang Yuxin was taken aback, with a puzzled expression, asking, “Settle the scores with me for what?”

Xiao Fei squinted his eyes, half-smiling, “It’s just the two of us here, why did you lock the door when you showered?”

Tang Yuxin’s face instantly turned flustered, stammering, “I… I just did it out of habit…”

Xiao Fei looked at her deeply, saying no more, but a hint of confusion and concern lingered in his gaze.

Tang Yuxin carefully asked, “Are you mad, honey?”

“No.”

Xiao Fei replied flatly, though a faint trace of detachment was detectable in his voice.

Afterward, they both finished grooming and headed to the hot spring pool together.

Throughout the way, Tang Yuxin was a bit anxious, and though Xiao Fei appeared calm, the thought of that locked door lingered in his mind.

By the poolside, in the swirling warm mist, Tang Yuxin’s cheeks were flushed as she shyly bowed her head.

Xiao Fei warmly extended his hand, “Yuxin, come on down.”

Tang Yuxin glanced up, pretending to be cross, “Stop smiling like that, like a big bad wolf.”

Xiao Fei laughed inwardly; wasn’t his wife just the adorable little sheep he cherished?

With his patient encouragement, Tang Yuxin finally gathered the courage to slowly enter the hot spring pool.

The warm water enveloped them, seemingly dispelling the slight awkwardness between them.

Not knowing how much time passed, Tang Yuxin drowsily awoke, hoarsely asking, “What time is it?”

Xiao Fei, holding her close, glanced at the time, “It’s five-thirty.”

“It’s already five-thirty!”

Tang Yuxin’s eyes widened in surprise, “I actually slept for so long!”

Xiao Fei, smiling, got up to tidy things up, suggesting, “How about we go to the cafeteria to eat something?”

Tang Yuxin lazily whined, “I don’t want to move, it’s all your fault!”

Xiao Fei feigned ignorance, “What did I do?”

Tang Yuxin huffed, turning her head away, ignoring him, her manner utterly charming.

After they lingered a bit longer, Xiao Fei casually asked again:

“Wife, why exactly did you lock the door?”

Tang Yuxin looked surprised for the third time, “Why are you still hung up on that!”*

Xiao Fei, sounding aggrieved, said, “I just don’t get it. Why would my beautiful wife make up an excuse to deceive me? Is there a little secret you’re hiding from me?”

Upon hearing this, Tang Yuxin hurriedly explained:

“There’s no secret!”

“I just needed to use the bathroom, wasn’t feeling well, and locked the door out of habit.”

“I do that all the time at home, just a habit.”

Xiao Fei finally understood and quickly apologized, “I was overthinking it.”

This time, Tang Yuxin didn’t lock the door when she entered the bathroom.

She finally understood that what Xiao Fei cared about wasn’t that door but the unreserved trust between them.

The original six o’clock schedule was pushed to eight due to this series of little episodes.

Tang Yuxin, with slightly wobbly legs, followed behind Xiao Fei to the buffet restaurant.

Shortly after sitting down, a warm-hearted auntie came over with concern, “Young lady, are you feeling unwell? Did you stay too long in the hot spring?”

Tang Yuxin’s face flushed red, awkwardly fabricating, “Yes, just need to rest and eat a little, thank you, Auntie.”

The auntie gave a few reminders before leaving.

Just then, Xiao Fei returned with a tray, “What were you two chatting about?”

Tang Yuxin turned her head away in irritation, refusing to look at him, still embarrassed by the aunt’s misunderstanding.

Seeing his wife pouting, Xiao Fei couldn’t help but find it funny; her little temper was exactly like their second baby at home.

He patiently coaxed, “Don’t be mad, wife. I didn’t handle it well this time, but I’ll be more careful next time. Okay?”

Listening to her husband’s gentle words, Tang Yuxin’s grievances gradually dissipated.

Thinking it over, Xiao Fei was still young, and with little time alone due to the kids, their time together was rare.

Since they had this rare two-person world, some things seemed inevitable.

With this thought, she felt she had been a bit too serious earlier.

Tang Yuxin smiled openly, “Not mad anymore.”

Seeing this, Xiao Fei was also delighted, picking up food from the tray, “Alright, come try this, it looks delicious.”

Under the warm light, the couple exchanged smiles, and a cozy atmosphere filled the restaurant.

This little episode didn’t dampen their spirits but made them cherish each other more, adding a sweet memory to their rare two-person trip.
