She had thought this group of people intended to get the money from the Huangfu family first, resolve Huangfu Shaohua's situation, and then use her to earn a ransom.
For two days, they had given her only a bottle of water and a piece of bread, leaving her feeling hungry and thirsty.
She could only conserve her energy, hoping Tianyi would come to her rescue soon, trusting in Tianyi's abilities.
Although she couldn't see anything in the dark room, Susu felt her way to lean against the wall, sitting on the ground to rest.
Suddenly, someone outside forcefully opened the door, and light streamed in.
Susu, startled, quickly shrank into the corner. She saw Sheng Zhuzhu approaching her with a bottle of water.
Noticing the strange look in Sheng Zhuzhu's eyes, she asked, "Miss Sheng, what, what do you want?"
"You are Daisy, aren't you?" Sheng Zhuzhu's lips curled into a smile, but her eyes were terrifying.
Susu quickly shook her head and said, "I'm not..."
"They said you were caught with Brother Shaohua, so you must be Daisy." Sheng Zhuzhu had a chest full of hatred and anger with nowhere to vent.
Earlier, she had heard from her mother that Brother Shaohua was already married, that he had married a woman named Daisy, and therefore would not marry her.
She had heard from the people who worked for her father that Brother Shaohua and this woman were seen dining at a restaurant, and then went for a walk together. Thus, she took the Susu before her to be Daisy.
While unscrewing the cap of the water bottle, Sheng Zhuzhu stared at Susu with hatred, saying, "No wonder Brother Shaohua married you. You are truly beautiful, more beautiful than me."
Susu had a feeling the liquid in the bottle in her hand was not ordinary water. She slowly stood up, leaning against the wall, trying to stop her. "Miss Sheng, you've made a mistake. I am not Daisy, and I have nothing to do with Huangfu Shaohua. I just happened to be walking with him, and we have something important to discuss..."
"Give Brother Shaohua back to me." As she spoke, Sheng Zhuzhu had already unscrewed the cap and made a move to splash the water towards Susu.
Susu quickly covered her face with her hands. Before she could cry out, she heard the sound of someone falling to the ground.
She removed her hands and found no water on them. She saw Huangfu Shaohua, his face covered in injuries, holding a stick, and he had already knocked Sheng Zhuzhu to the ground.
Sheng Zhuzhu, lying on the ground, had the bottle of water she was holding spill onto her hands and hair, instantly producing smoke.
"Sulfuric acid." Susu then confirmed that the contents of her bottle were sulfuric acid and quickly kicked the bottle away from her.
Sheng Zhuzhu, having been knocked unconscious, did not yet realize her hands and hair were being corroded, nor did she feel the pain.
Susu didn't know how to help her avoid the corrosive effects of the sulfuric acid. Huangfu Shaohua directly grabbed her legs and dragged her away from the sulfuric acid. He said, "Her hair and skin have already been corroded beyond repair. She has no one to blame but herself for being so deranged."
Susu stopped looking at Sheng Zhuzhu and asked Huangfu Shaohua, "How did you get here? Weren't you tied up by them?"
"I was secretly struggling with the ropes, and they had loosened yesterday. Taking advantage of the fact that no one was around, I finally broke free." Huangfu Shaohua glanced at the door again and said, "Let's escape quickly."
Susu nodded. Seeing his face, she knew he was not lightly injured. She asked, "Are you alright? They were too brutal."
Huangfu Shaohua said calmly, "I'm fine. Let's go quickly."
They immediately ran out. Susu noticed that although the place was still unfinished and unfurnished, it seemed two units had been combined and divided into several rooms.
The room where they were first tied up was at the very back, and the room where she was held was separated by three rooms in between.
But where was the actual door leading outside?
Huangfu Shaohua led her forward, thinking the exit door should be ahead.
As Susu walked, she saw a window frame on another wall, sealed with wooden strips, but not very tightly, with a gap.
Susu plucked a metal button from her clothes and inserted it into the gap, hoping the metal button would reflect sunlight to attract attention.
"Look quickly, this is the main door." Huangfu Shaohua saw that the door was still the original wooden door from when the property was handed over. "They must have been afraid of being noticed, so they didn't change the outer door."
Huangfu Shaohua's tone was filled with joy. He kicked the door open forcefully.
Sheng Haoguang and two burly men were returning from outside. As they were about to open the door, it was pulled open from the inside.
They were stunned at first, but then they saw it was Huangfu Shaohua who kicked the door.
Sheng Haoguang directly kicked Huangfu Shaohua, sending him back into the house.
Susu, unwillingly, rushed out, shouting for help, "Help! Help..." but she was quickly dragged back in by the two burly men, her mouth covered.
Seeing the main door being re-secured, she realized this was the top floor, with only two units.
And these two units must have been bought and combined by Sheng Haoguang, with no other residents. This was truly despairing.
She and Huangfu Shaohua were tied up again. Just as Sheng Haoguang and his group were about to beat Huangfu Shaohua, a shrill scream came from one of the rooms.
They stopped paying attention to Susu and Huangfu Shaohua and rushed to the room where Susu had been held.
After a while, Sheng Haoguang carried Sheng Zhuzhu out of the room. Susu could hardly bear to look.
Sheng Zhuzhu's hair had been corroded away from her scalp, and one of her hands was also disfigured.
Sheng Haoguang roared furiously, "Who did this!"
"Hurry and send her to the hospital. At least it will alleviate her pain," Susu said calmly to Sheng Haoguang.
She knew it was only a matter of time before Sheng Haoguang sought retribution, but at least as a father, his priority should be treating Sheng Zhuzhu's injuries.
Sheng Haoguang glared at them sinisterly and said to his subordinates, "Lock them up first."
Then he immediately carried Sheng Zhuzhu away to find medical treatment.
They were locked up again in the room where Susu had been held. Susu saw that the pool of sulfuric acid had dried up, but it had corroded the floor terribly.
After the door was closed, the room was still very dark. Their hands and feet were tied, making escape even more difficult.
Their only hope now was for someone to come and rescue them.
In the quiet of the room, Huangfu Shaohua let out a few violent coughs.
Susu knew he was not far from her and asked, "Did they hit you too hard when they beat you? Do you have internal injuries? Did they ask your parents for ransom? When can they exchange you for the ransom? You need to see a doctor quickly..."
"They asked my parents for ransom, two hundred million."
Susu gasped, "That much?"
"Is it a lot? But I know that even if they get the ransom, they won't let me go. Sheng Haoguang hates me to the bone. I can't possibly leave here alive..."
"No, your parents are not ordinary people. They will find a way. We will be alright," Susu encouraged him.
Huangfu Shaohua hummed and said, "I'm saying, if, if by any chance I don't make it out of here alive. Please tell Daisy for me that I wronged her, that she must give birth to the child safely and take good care of herself. And tell her... tell her that I love her, that I truly love her."
