Chapter 1241 Simple and Stubborn

"No," Huangfu Shaohua said with a cold face, also intending to leave the hospital.

Earlier, the police had asked him to contact a family member. He didn't want to trouble Mengyao, nor could he alert his father. Thus, he had only provided his mother's contact information.

Wu Xiufang caught up to him, saying, "No? Is your arm injury serious?"

Her way of showing concern made Huangfu Shaohua feel suffocated. He replied coldly, "It's just a superficial wound. I need to go back and rest."

"Where is the diagnosis report?" Wu Xiufang pressed.

Huangfu Shaohua threw the papers he was holding at her. "See for yourself."

She quickly looked at them. Although it was a superficial wound, the cut was still a bit deep, requiring three stitches.

However, Shaohua had become increasingly stubborn and distant from her. She couldn't force him to stay in the hospital, so she had to let him go. Fortunately, he wasn't seriously injured.

After getting into the car, she remembered that the police had mentioned the place where Shaohua was robbed was no longer in the city center. This, combined with Mrs. Luo's complaints, made her suspicious.

She asked, "After you separated from Luo Xiaoxiao, where did you go? Did you go to find that woman again? Or did she come to bother you again?"

"No, I was just taking a walk by myself," Shaohua replied, looking out the car window with an extremely cold expression.

Wu Xiufang knew he wouldn't tell her the truth if she asked further. However, she felt that Daisy was still affecting Shaohua's life, and this simply wouldn't do. She had to find a way to make Daisy unable to stay in Lancheng, to prevent her from seeing Shaohua.

Along the way, Huangfu Shaohua noticed that Wu Xiufang seemed lost in thought and didn't speak. He figured she must have learned about the encounter with Daisy at the restaurant.

Upon arriving at the Huangfu family's mansion, as soon as he got out of the car, he stopped his mother and said, "Luo Xiaoxiao must have told you everything. This isn't Daisy's fault. We just happened to run into each other. Her friends didn't know I was divorced from her, so they came over to greet me..."

Wu Xiufang stopped at the main entrance, not walking further. "What a coincidence. That's a high-end restaurant. What kind of friends would someone like her have that could afford to dine there?"

"Qin Tianyi's wife is her good friend. It's just that coincidental," Huangfu Shaohua said. "My injury has nothing to do with her. Don't go looking for trouble with her..."

"I'd forgotten that she knew so many rich people from the boxing club. Otherwise, she wouldn't have managed to get you."

"Mom! Don't speak so harshly. I was the one pursuing her at first." In his heart, he felt he could look down on Daisy, but he wouldn't allow others to speak ill of her.

Wu Xiufang couldn't understand what kind of magic Daisy had over Shaohua. She sneered, "No matter how harshly I speak, it's not as bad as the shameless things she's done."

"Let's not bring up the past. She left with nothing when she divorced me. She didn't take anything from me," Huangfu Shaohua said with a warning tone.

Wu Xiufang disdainfully replied, "That's because she couldn't get what she wanted. If she dared to fight for property with you, we could have hired lawyers to ruin her reputation."

Huangfu Shaohua didn't want to listen anymore. He left Wu Xiufang behind and walked back into the mansion first.

Wu Xiufang watched his retreating back, becoming even more certain that even after seeing those disgusting photos and videos of that woman, Shaohua still couldn't let her go.

She couldn't let that woman stay in Lancheng any longer!

...

A week later, Daisy's mother was processing her discharge papers in the hospital's outpatient lobby.

Daisy's father, who had suffered a fractured back, had been hospitalized for nearly half a month. Although not fully recovered, he no longer needed to stay in the hospital and could recuperate at home with regular check-ups.

Daisy's mother was queuing at the discharge window when she inadvertently saw a familiar figure walking through the bustling lobby.

She recognized the man's back as very much like Huangfu Shaohua's. She quickly excused herself to the person in front of her and hurried after his retreating figure.

That morning, Huangfu Shaohua had made time to come to the hospital to have his stitches removed. He went to the surgical treatment room.

He had made an appointment in advance, so he didn't have to wait long. The doctor removed the bandage from his arm and examined his wound, saying, "It's healing quite well. After removing the stitches, observe it for a few more days."

Huangfu Shaohua thanked him.

After the stitches were removed, as he walked out of the treatment room, he saw Daisy's mother waiting at the door.

"Shaohua, it really is you." Daisy's mother looked at his arm and asked worriedly, "How did you get injured? Where is Daisy? Does she know? Why isn't she accompanying you to the hospital?"

Huangfu Shaohua was slightly taken aback. He looked down at Daisy's mother's expression. She seemed unaware that he and Daisy were divorced, and he didn't know how to explain.

"Auntie, I have something to attend to. We'll talk another time."

His mother said in surprise, "Shaohua, what did you call me? Did you and Daisy have a fight?"

"Auntie, you should ask Daisy about this. I really have an urgent matter," he said, unsure how to face Daisy's mother.

Daisy's mother felt that something must have happened between them, and since Daisy was unwilling to say, she was not content without finding out.

She blocked Huangfu Shaohua, saying, "Don't leave yet. Don't forget what you promised my husband and me when you married Daisy. Your wedding was only a few months ago, have you forgotten your promises?"

"I haven't forgotten. It's she who did something wrong to me." Seeing that he couldn't avoid it, Huangfu Shaohua thought it best to clarify things. "Auntie, Daisy and I are divorced. I won't go into the reasons. You should ask her."

Daisy's mother felt as if a thunderclap had struck her head, and she stood there stunned.

Huangfu Shaohua bypassed her and strode away.

He probably knew why Daisy hadn't told her parents about their divorce yet. It was likely because she was afraid they wouldn't be able to accept it immediately.

But things had to be said eventually. Why continue to deceive them?

Daisy's mother didn't know how long she stood there. When she finally came to her senses, she realized Huangfu Shaohua had already left.

She clutched her chest and sat on a nearby bench, still unable to catch her breath.

Their wedding had just passed not long ago, and now they were divorced? From the tone of Huangfu Shaohua's words just now, it seemed like it was her daughter's fault?

Her mind was in a mess. She knew her daughter best. She was simple and stubborn. What could she have done to wrong Huangfu Shaohua?

Moreover, if their relatives who attended their wedding found out, Daisy would become a laughingstock again. What was she to do?

She suddenly remembered that a relative had shown her some explicit photos not long ago. She had asked Daisy about it then.

Daisy had said it was just someone who looked similar, and there was a mistake.

She hadn't believed that Daisy would take such photos in the first place. Coupled with Daisy's calm reaction when she learned about it, she had dismissed it as her relative being overly concerned and hadn't taken it seriously.

Could it be, could it be that the woman in the explicit photos was indeed Daisy? But why would she take such indecent photos?

It wasn't as if she lacked money. And with Daisy's boxing skills, no one could force her. Could she have been deceived?

She really couldn't figure it out. The more she thought about it, the more her head ached. She could only wait for Daisy to come to the hospital later to ask her.

Daisy's mother felt a headache coming on. She slowly stood up, returned to the outpatient lobby, and continued to process her discharge papers.
