Chapter 1249 Perform Well

Huangfu Shaohua sat in the restaurant eating lunch, occasionally glancing at Daisy, who stood in the restaurant doorway dressed in black.

She looked the same as before, only thinner, still exuding an air of heroism, as if the previous events had never happened.

Her strength and resilience made him ache with concern.

He finished his meal distractedly and returned to the company office, unable to focus on the documents he needed to handle.

The thought of Daisy having suffered so much and still having to work hard filled his mind with thoughts of how to compensate her.

After Huangfu Shaohua finished his lunch, the four bodyguards, in pairs, took turns eating and resting.

She walked out of the Huangfu Group building and noticed a gray car that had been parked across the street was still there. Someone was clearly inside, observing the entrance of the Huangfu Group building.

It seemed someone was monitoring the people entering and exiting the Huangfu Group's main entrance, but whether it was specifically targeting Huangfu Shaohua was unclear.

She wanted to get closer to the car for a better look, but feared alerting them. She decided to get something to eat first.

Earlier, while Huangfu Shaohua was eating, she had noticed people walking back and forth on the road in front of the restaurant entrance. Could someone be tracking Huangfu Shaohua?

Based on her experience, Huangfu Shaohua was indeed being targeted by ill-intentioned individuals. It seemed he was truly in danger.

The Huangfu family hiring bodyguards for him probably meant something bad had already happened to him, and the injury on his head was likely related to these watchers.

While eating her boxed lunch, she thought about reminding her three colleagues to be especially vigilant whenever Huangfu Shaohua went out.

Daisy tried hard to see him as just a client needing protection for work, but every time she saw him, even just his back, her heart ached. Yet, she had to act as if nothing was wrong.

After finishing her meal and returning to the Huangfu Group, just as she was about to get into the elevator, someone called out to her, "Daisy."

The voice was unfamiliar. She looked over and saw a refined, handsome man. He looked somewhat familiar, but she couldn't recall where she had seen him.

He spoke first, "You really are Daisy. I thought so this morning, but I wasn't sure. You might not remember me, but do you remember the person next to the second young master's eldest sister at the wedding?"

Hearing this, Daisy remembered. At her and Huangfu Shaohua's wedding, Huangfu Mengqi had a male companion, described as a subordinate from the company.

Daisy smiled at him and said, "Oh, I remember. Your name is, is..."

"Song Jiaping," the other man introduced himself again, giving her a knowing look and leading her to a deserted corner.

Daisy followed him, surprised that besides Huangfu Shaohua, someone else recognized her here.

"I heard about you and the second young master. It's a shame; you were quite a good match," Song Jiaping said.

Daisy smiled and asked, "Mr. Song, is there something you need?"

"Nothing much. I'm just curious. Aren't you a boxing coach? Why are you now the second young master's bodyguard? Doesn't that make you feel uncomfortable or awkward?" Song Jiaping actually wanted to know the real reason for her divorce from Huangfu Shaohua but couldn't ask directly.

Daisy felt he was being overly interested in her affairs with Huangfu Shaohua and said, "I've changed jobs. As for the company assigning me to be his bodyguard, that was unexpected."

Song Jiaping sighed and asked, "Don't you hate him?"

"Mr. Song, I apologize, but I have to get back to work and can't chat for long." With that, she pressed the elevator button to go upstairs, feeling that Song Jiaping was a strange person but not dwelling on it.

Perhaps because they had met before, he was just showing some concern.

Fortunately, once Huangfu Shaohua returned home safely after work, their day's job would be over.

They drove following Huangfu Shaohua's car. Seeing his car safely enter the mansion, they turned back to the company.

This was her first time so close to the Huangfu family's mansion. Just looking at the gate made her understand the vast distance between her identity and Huangfu Shaohua's.

She blamed herself for not realizing it earlier. She had researched them online before, knowing the Huangfu family was wealthy, but she hadn't truly understood the extent of their wealth.

Now, seeing his former residence with her own eyes, she realized how much of a compromise it was for him to live in such a small house with her.

...

As soon as Huangfu Shaohua returned home, Wu Xiufang asked with concern, "How are the four bodyguards protecting you? You can change them anytime if you're not satisfied."

"They're alright," Huangfu Shaohua replied indifferently, about to head to his room.

Wu Xiufang smiled and stopped him, "I've heard from the senior management of the group. The entire company knows you'll be the future heir. Your father asked you to come to work with him this morning, which shows he's starting to value you. You must seize this opportunity and perform well, don't disappoint your father again."

"I know." Huangfu Shaohua felt annoyed by her words but patiently listened before casually asking, "By the way, which security company did you hire those bodyguards from? If I need to go out tonight, can I ask them for personal protection?"

"So you finally realize the need for protection," Wu Xiufang said happily. "They're from the most reputable security company in Lancheng, with the best personnel. Just call their company when you need them, and they'll appear before you as quickly as possible."

Huangfu Shaohua said "Oh," and asked, "Can you give me the security company's phone number? I have to go out tonight for something."

Wu Xiufang quickly said, "Your head injury still needs rest. Don't go out tonight..."

"There's a tricky project in the department I'm responsible for. I've arranged to meet with the project collaborator tonight. Father also asked me to write a project report this morning. If I don't finish it soon, I might disappoint him again."

"If that's the case, then you must contact those bodyguards before you go out, and come back early after your meeting," Wu Xiufang cautioned.

Huangfu Shaohua said, "Okay, I understand. I'll feel at ease with those bodyguards accompanying you."

Wu Xiufang found the service hotline number for the security company and sent it to him, no longer trying to stop him from returning to his room to rest.

Seeing Shao Hua suddenly become so sensible and willing to work hard, her mood improved. She no longer had to worry about the Huangfu family's inheritance falling into someone else's hands.

Huangfu Shaohua returned to his room, took off his suit jacket, and leaned back on the bed. He looked at the security company's phone number his mother had sent him. He already had a plan in mind and wouldn't make Daisy work so hard anymore.

...

Daisy reported the situation of protecting Huangfu Shaohua on the first day back at the company, along with some of her analyses.

After listening, her three colleagues also shared similar feelings to Daisy's: that someone was lurking and monitoring Huangfu Shaohua, likely waiting for the opportune moment to strike.
