Chapter 1342 A Laugh Escapes

Susu arrived at the street park, searching everywhere for Tianyi's figure.

The street park wasn't large. She walked back and forth twice, but couldn't find Tianyi anywhere.

Susu suddenly thought that if he were truly meeting a woman, he would naturally choose a place suitable for couples to talk and fall in love.

She wondered if she had missed any inconspicuous locations. Following this line of thought, she indeed spotted a pavilion shaded by several large trees.

Tianyi was in that pavilion, but he wasn't with another woman. Instead, Su Kangxi was with him in the pavilion.

He had clearly told her he was meeting some CEO, so why was the person he was meeting Kangxi?

Susu walked towards the pavilion, feeling puzzled. As she got close to them, she waved and called out, "Husband, Kangxi..."

Before she could finish speaking, a figure darted out like lightning. Before she could react, the person wearing a baseball cap grabbed her and held a fruit knife to her throat.

"Let me go!" Susu shouted, not understanding what was happening.

The person stared at Tianyi and Kangxi in front of Susu and growled at her, "Shut up, don't move!"

Susu trembled with fear and dared not move, trying to calm herself and figure out how to escape.

Tianyi and Kangxi were also stunned by the sudden turn of events. Kangxi recognized the person as the witness they were looking for. He quickly showed his police ID and approached the man, saying, "Are you Zhang Qiu? I'm the officer who contacted you. Didn't you agree to meet us? What are you doing? Let her go."

Zhang Qiu, for some reason, yelled at Kangxi, "Don't come any closer! If you dare to come any closer, I'll take her with me!"

Seeing Susu with a knife at her throat, Tianyi felt his heart stop. But his voice was remarkably calm as he said, "Don't be impulsive. Tell me what you want. I am Qin Tianyi, the CEO of Aoxiang Group. She is my wife. Please don't hurt her."

Zhang Qiu looked at Tianyi and asked nervously, "Why are you with this policeman? Did you send someone to kill me?"

As he gained control, he tightened his grip on the knife and took a step back, dragging Susu with him.

Tianyi's face turned pale with fright, but his eyes were terrifyingly calm. He said, "We want you to be a witness, why would we send someone to kill you? Let my wife go first, tell us what's going on, and the police can arrange protection for you."

"Yes, if your life is threatened, we police will protect you," Kangxi said, taking another step closer, looking for an opportunity to rescue Susu.

Zhang Qiu sneered and retreated further, saying, "I don't trust anyone now. If you want the video I have, then pay for it."

"Alright, tell us how much you want," Tianyi said. As long as Susu was safe, he would agree to anything.

The other party named his price: "One million."

"Okay, no problem. But it's not a small amount, and it will take some time for us to get it all together," Tianyi agreed.

While Tianyi was talking to the man, Susu noticed that Zhang Qiu, who was holding her, had retreated to the edge of the pavilion steps.

Susu deliberately shifted one foot towards the steps, as if losing her balance, and stumbled backward, smashing her head hard into Zhang Qiu's chest.

Kangxi seized the opportunity, swiftly knocking the fruit knife from Zhang Qiu's hand and pulling Susu away from him.

In that very instant, someone hidden in the shadows pulled the trigger. A bullet pierced Zhang Qiu's head.

Tianyi immediately rushed over, shielded Susu's head, and pulled her down to crouch, fearing that the person in hiding might continue to shoot at them.

They stayed crouched, covering their heads, for a while but found no further shots from the shadows.

It seemed this person was specifically targeting Zhang Qiu. No wonder Zhang Qiu had said someone wanted to kill him.

While crouching, Kangxi had already called the police station, requesting backup.

When they confirmed they were safe, they looked at Zhang Qiu, who lay motionless on the ground.

This was the work of a professional killer, a single shot to kill.

Not long after, many police officers arrived and safely escorted them away from the street park.

After giving her statement, Susu, still shaken, emerged from the police station with Tianyi.

She couldn't stop thinking about how the person who held a knife to her throat was killed by another assailant, and that assailant had escaped and hadn't been caught.

She realized that Tianyi and Kangxi had been in the pavilion the whole time, which was very dangerous.

"Why did you suddenly appear?" Tianyi asked in a low voice, holding her hand. "Do you know how dangerous that was? You should have stayed home. Why did you specifically come to the street park?"

"Why did you lie to me?" Susu retorted. "What exactly are you and Kangxi up to?"

Tianyi decided not to hide it from her anymore. "We are investigating some past matters of the Wu family. We finally found valuable evidence, but I didn't expect Wu Xiufang to get ahead of us and silence the witness."

"I think this is too dangerous. You should stop investigating," Susu said, worried about his safety. "Daisy is fine now. Why do you still need to investigate Wu Xiufang? Can't we just live a peaceful life?"

Tianyi said helplessly, "I didn't tell you because I was afraid you would react this way. Daisy is only temporarily safe. We can't just wait to be attacked. It's better to strike first and uncover Wu Xiufang's crimes. Only then can we and Daisy be truly safe."

"But..."

"You still haven't told me why you came to the street park," Tianyi interrupted, changing the subject.

Susu lowered her head and said, "I didn't think you would be meeting any CEOs for business this weekend. I suspected... I suspected you were going to meet another woman."

After saying this, she expected Tianyi to be angry, but to her surprise, he burst into laughter.

"Mrs. Qin, don't you have any trust in your own husband?"

"I... I don't not trust you, I was just curious and wanted to know what you were doing," Susu still didn't dare to look at him, shoving her hands into her pockets. "Should we go back now?"

Tianyi didn't want to let her off easily. He gazed at her, amused, and said, "We're an old married couple, and you're still jealous like this. Fortunately, you're okay. What would I do if something happened to you? Don't worry about our investigation into Wu Xiufang. Don't worry, Kangxi and I will be fine."

Susu said "oh," and suddenly felt something in her pocket. She searched for it and found a USB drive.

Tianyi looked at her strangely and asked, "Why are you carrying a USB drive with you?"

"I didn't bring a USB drive, and I don't know how it appeared," Susu said, then suddenly thought of something. "This USB drive isn't mine. It must have been secretly put into my pocket by the person who held the knife to my neck."

Tianyi took the USB drive from her hand, picked her up, and said, "Let's get in the car and go back quickly. It seems even heaven is helping us. This is great."

"We're on the street. I can walk myself," Susu protested verbally, but her arms readily wrapped around Tianyi's neck.
