Chapter 1390 I Don't Like Anyone

The butler walked over to them and said apologetically, "Eldest Miss, Third Miss, I'm sorry. The second master is in charge of things in this mansion now. If I speak, the people below won't listen, and I can't do anything about it."

Mengyao didn't blame him and said understandingly, "It's okay, you're all just trying to keep your jobs."

"Thank you," the butler said respectfully. "Eldest Miss, Third Miss, you can still order me around as you please. Just call me if you need anything."

Mengyao replied with an "okay," while Mengqi remained lost in thought, saying nothing.

After the butler left, Mengyao nudged Mengqi and asked, "Sister, what's wrong?"

"I'm thinking if we can ask a lawyer to find a way to see Father, and have him record a video proving these documents are not fake. That way, no one will dare to say they are forged at the board meeting."

Mengyao said, "Sister, I don't understand these things, but the method you suggested should work."

She had initially thought that if her father went to jail, it wouldn't be bad for her second uncle to manage the group. As long as the group operated normally, their lives wouldn't change much.

But she didn't expect her second uncle to start suppressing her and her sister before even taking charge of the group, even preventing her from living in this house. It was simply too much.

As they were talking, Yao Feili arrived. Upon seeing Mengqi, he immediately asked, "Are you okay? Are you alright?"

"We've already sent Second Uncle away," Mengqi said, looking at Mengyao. "I'm fine, I'm just worried about Mengyao. She still has to live here, and I'm afraid Second Uncle will cause trouble for her."

Mengyao didn't want them to worry about her, saying, "Don't worry about me. I'm planning to go back to work at the research institute, and I can live in the dormitory there."

"But if you don't live here anymore, your second uncle will eventually occupy this house," Mengqi said with a worried frown.

Mengyao had come to terms with everything, saying, "Let Second Uncle live in this house if he wants. I'll pack my things early and take them to the dormitory. Actually, it doesn't matter where I live. Before, you, Father, and my second brother lived here. Now that you all don't live here anymore, the place I live doesn't matter."

"You're open-minded, but if you take a step back in some matters, your opponent will press forward. Your second uncle won't be moved by your generosity and kindness. In the face of huge profits, he will only become more rampant."

Mengqi's words left her momentarily speechless.

Although she had heard stories of wealthy families fighting to the death over inheritance, she never thought such a thing would happen to her.

Yao Feili said to Mengqi, "Mengyao hasn't worked in the group. She's dedicated to research. Don't scare her anymore. We'll handle these matters."

Mengqi also wished for Mengyao to always live in a pure and warm world, but with such a major incident, if she didn't learn to face reality and remained so naive, she would be devoured without even a bone left.

She had spoken a bit too hastily out of concern for Mengyao, so she softened her tone and said, "I'm sorry, I spoke a bit too quickly just now. It's right for you to want to stay at the institute and focus on your work. You don't need to worry too much about family matters."

"Sister, you're right. I want to help you share some of the burden at this time."

Yao Feili said gently to her, "Don't worry about your sister. I'm still here. I won't let your sister be bullied by those who want to take advantage of the chaos."

Mengyao smiled and said, "Brother-in-law, my sister is truly blessed to marry you."

Hearing her say that, Yao Feili was so happy he beamed.

Mengqi glanced at him and said, "Mengyao, look at him, he can't take praise. He gets carried away when you compliment him."

Mengyao didn't respond, watching the couple flirt and tease each other, and wisely began tidying up the moved items in the room.

Yao Feili put his arm around Mengqi's shoulder and said, "I'm not joking with you anymore. I've thought about it. Your father has only been arrested, he's not dead yet, and it's uncertain whether he'll be convicted or for how long. Your father's influence in the group should still be there. Even if your second uncle wants to be the heir of Ye Corporation, he can't achieve it without your father's approval. I want to find a lawyer to record a video for your father, and then let everyone in the group see who your father wants to temporarily take over his position. Then, no one should dare to object anymore."

Mengqi looked at him and hugged him proactively, saying, "Lao Yao, we're thinking the same thing. But the police aren't allowing anyone to see my father. Can a lawyer see him?"

"I'll arrange for this lawyer. I know a very capable lawyer, and it should be fine."

Mengqi stood on tiptoe and kissed him directly on the cheek, making Yao Feili a bit embarrassed. He whispered, "Mengyao is still watching..."

"Just pretend I'm not here, I didn't see anything," Mengyao said quickly.

Yao Feili asked Mengqi to stand properly and then, remembering something, said to Mengyao, "Have you been to the hospital to see Jiaxi? He called me several times after he woke up, always asking about you."

Mengyao was stunned. If Yao Feili hadn't reminded her, she would have almost forgotten that Hong Jiaxi was still in the hospital.

Mengqi subtly tugged at Yao Feili, giving him a reproachful look with her eyes, wondering why he had to bring up Jiaxi.

Mengyao came back to her senses and said, "Yes, I should go see him. I'll go to the hospital to visit him tomorrow."

"I'll go with you," Mengqi said quickly.

Mengyao said calmly, "Sister, I can go by myself. Don't worry, whether it's love or hate between him and me, it's time for a conclusion."

Mengqi felt it was right and nodded, saying, "After all, he saved your life this time. It's good for you to talk things through with him clearly."

...

The next day, Mengyao went to the hospital where Jiaxi was admitted.

She inquired at the front desk of the inpatient department and went to Jiaxi's ward.

When Mengyao reached the ward door, she found it was not closed. Jiaxi was lying on the hospital bed receiving an IV drip.

She took a deep breath and still knocked on the open door.

Jiaxi heard someone knocking and opened his eyes. Seeing it was Mengyao, he sat up excitedly.

Mengyao walked into the ward and looked at him, saying, "Jiaxi, are you alright? Have you recovered?"

Jiaxi's eyes turned red. He abruptly pulled out the IV drip and tried to hug her, but she pushed him away.

"Don't get excited," Mengyao said calmly. "I came to see you today to tell you that your act of pushing me away and getting hit by the car is considered settling what you owed me. If you hadn't cheated, my child wouldn't have miscarried. From now on, we are even. Now that my mother is gone, I won't ask for a single cent from you in our divorce."

Jiaxi froze, his face turning pale. "But if we don't divorce, we're still husband and wife. I won't divorce you. I know I was wrong. I would give my life for you, can't you forgive me just once more?"

"No," Mengyao said, looking at his sorrowful expression without any feeling. "I can confirm that I don't like you at all, and I will never like you again!"

Jiaxi suddenly became furious and said, "You don't like me anymore, then who do you like!"

Mengyao was startled and took a step back, saying, "I don't like anyone. I just want to focus on the medical research I love."
