Chapter 1436 Becoming a Dad Again

An Jing chased her into the room and put down the flowers in his hand. "I'm sorry, it was my fault. You can blame me, scold me, or hit me!"

Lan Yu, with her back to him, wiped her tears and said, "Why did you come back today? Where is Xiaoxiao? Didn't you bring Xiaoxiao back?"

An Jing walked behind her, turned her around, grabbed her hand, and hit his own face. "If you're angry, hit me hard, go on."

Lan Yu, with her hand held by him, swung it hard at his face a few times before quickly trying to break free. Seeing that he had lost a lot of weight, she couldn't help but feel distressed for him. "Let go of me, what are you doing! It's okay, I'm not angry with you. I'm angry with myself for not being able to take care of Xiaoxiao back then, which is why I had to send Xiaoxiao away, making you unable to let go."

As she spoke, she pulled her hand back and started crying again.

"It's okay, it's okay," An Jing embraced her. "We won't mention Xiaoxiao again. This matter is completely over, and no one will bring it up again. It's no one's fault; we can only say that we and Xiaoxiao have no fate."

Lan Yu rested her face in his embrace, rubbing away her tears. Only then did she realize that his plan to bring Xiaoxiao back was completely over. She hugged him tightly, crying out all the pent-up emotions she had held in her heart.

Hearing her soft sobs, An Jing's heart ached. He realized he had acted foolishly again.

Perhaps Alva was right. Since he had already handed Xiaoxiao over to his biological father, he shouldn't constantly doubt him out of worry.

When Lan Yu's crying subsided, he immediately and worriedly touched her forehead and asked, "Have you been feeling unwell these days?"

"A little, but it's okay," Lan Yu choked out.

"Where exactly do you feel unwell?" An Jing stared at her face and asked. He noticed she had no color on her face and quickly said, "Let's go to the hospital. I'll take you now."

Lan Yu tugged at him. "Don't make a fuss. I'm fine, really."

"How is this making a fuss? If you're not feeling well, you should see a doctor. You're an adult, you should know how to take care of yourself," An Jing insisted. "Let the nanny watch Ningyu at home, and we'll go to the hospital."

"Oh my," Lan Yu finally smiled. "You just got back, haven't you eaten yet? Let's go eat. If we need to go to the hospital, we can go tomorrow. What time is it now? The hospital is closed, we can only go to the emergency room."

"It's okay to go to the emergency room. You can't delay if you're sick..."

"I know why I'm not feeling well; it's not an illness," Lan Yu said, blushing and interrupting him in a low voice.

An Jing looked at her reaction, confused. "Then what's wrong with you?"

Seeing that he hadn't guessed, Lan Yu couldn't help but purse her lips and smile, pushing him outwards. "Let's go eat first. Ningyu is waiting for us. After you eat and take a bath, get a good night's sleep, and then accompany me to the obstetrics and gynecology department tomorrow."

"Obstetrics and gynecology?" An Jing thought he misheard and asked again, "What did you just say?"

"I said, accompany me to the hospital tomorrow," Lan Yu cupped her hands around her mouth and shouted loudly in his ear.

An Jing finally understood and excitedly exclaimed, "Could it be that Ningyu is going to have a brother or sister?"

Lan Yu didn't answer him, just winked at him.

"Is it true? Tell me quickly!" An Jing was impatient.

"I'm not sure. I used a pregnancy test, and it showed two lines."

An Jing couldn't hide his excitement and joy. He cupped her face, kissed her lips, and wanted to sweep her up and spin her around. "Let's go to the hospital now..."

"What's the rush? This isn't an emergency. How can we go to the emergency room? I said tomorrow, so it's tomorrow," Lan Yu felt a little embarrassed. She pushed him away and looked at the bouquet of flowers. "We're an old married couple, why are you still buying these impractical things..."

Before she could finish, An Jing couldn't help but sweep her up in his arms, laughing happily. "No matter how long we've been married, buying you flowers is never a waste."

Saying this, he carried her out of the room. Lan Yu exclaimed softly, "Put me down quickly! It's not good if Ningyu and the nanny see!"

An Jing only put her down by the dining table and said, "To be safe, you should walk less and be extra careful. Don't do any housework. I'll hire someone else tomorrow."

Lan Yu glared at him. Seeing the nanny looking at them and smiling, she wished she could find a hole to crawl into.

"Mommy is so big, she still needs Daddy to carry her. Shameful, shameful," Ningyu said, smiling as she looked at them.

An Jing's mood instantly brightened. He teased her, "Do you want Daddy to carry you too?"

"Of course, I'm a child," Ningyu said, jumping off her chair and wanting to sit on An Jing's lap.

An Jing lifted her onto his lap and served her food. "Daddy can carry you, and he can carry Mommy too. Understand?"

"Okay, Daddy, you have to carry us more from now on."

Lan Yu said to the nanny, "Sir hasn't had dinner yet. Please add another pair of bowls and chopsticks. Are there any dishes that aren't heated? Add another dish."

"Yes, yes, I'll go now," the nanny said, collecting her own bowls and chopsticks and going to the kitchen.

Lan Yu stood up, wanting to help in the kitchen, fearing the nanny would be too slow alone.

An Jing stopped her. "Don't move, be careful."

Lan Yu smiled and opened his hand. "You're exaggerating. Anyone would think I have a serious illness."

But An Jing still wouldn't let her go to the kitchen. "I'm not in a hurry to eat. Sit down and keep me and Ningyu company."

"I don't want Mommy to be sick. I want Mommy to stay with me," Ningyu said in a sweet voice, getting off An Jing's lap and hugging her with her small hands.

"Okay, Mommy will stay with you," Lan Yu said, holding her small hand. She felt like they were back to their happy family life.

An Jing laughed. "Mommy isn't sick; she's pregnant. You'll have a brother or sister soon?"

"That's great, that's great! I want a brother," Ningyu said, clapping her hands happily.

"It's not certain yet," Lan Yu said, seeing how happy they were. She was afraid the pregnancy test might be wrong, and they would all be disappointed.

An Jing seemed convinced and asked Ningyu, "Why a brother? Why not a sister?"

He had heard the saying that children's mouths are often the most accurate.

"Because I want a brother to play with me," Ningyu said, happily running to the kitchen and telling the nanny, "Auntie, I'm going to have a brother!"

The nanny's congratulations could be heard from the kitchen.

Lan Yu smiled and chided An Jing, "You two are too quick with your words."

"What's wrong with that? This is great news. How long have we been hoping for another child?" An Jing felt even more excited than when Ningyu was born. He was going to be a father again.

It seemed he had made the right decision not to dwell on the past and stay abroad. There was nothing he could do about Xiaoxiao's situation now.

Alva would not give up Xiaoxiao's custody, and Xiaoxiao only harbored hatred for him.

All he could do was cherish the happiness that truly belonged to him now and live a good life with Lan Yu.
