Not long after, Qin Tianyi finally woke up. He opened his eyes to a blur of white and abruptly sat up, his mind still stuck on the past thirty minutes.
"I have to go save Susu, I'm not far from her..."
Susu, who was by his bedside, grabbed his hand, tears welling up in her eyes. "Tianyi, I'm alright, I'm really alright. Look at me, I'm right here in front of you."
Tianyi still found it hard to believe, thinking he was dreaming. "You're alright? Huang Xiuli didn't harm you?"
Susu placed his hand on her face, her tears turning into a smile. "Lawyer Gui saved me in time. Touch my face, it's warm, it's not your hallucination."
Tianyi looked at her again and noticed the white gauze wrapped around her head. "Your head?" he asked.
Susu gently touched the gauze on his head, which was also wrapped. "You're the same as me," she said with concern. "My head injury is even lighter than yours, just a scratch. You needed stitches."
Tianyi finally realized he was also injured. He touched his head and dismissed it, "Just bumped it."
"Just bumped it? It was a car accident! The bridge railing was broken. Did you think you were made of steel..."
Before Susu could finish her worried words, Tianyi hugged her tightly. "You scared me to death. I thought I'd never see you again."
Susu, who had intended to comfort him, found her words caught in her throat by his statement. Her heart ached, and she couldn't help but hug him back, sobbing.
Tianyi patted her back, comforting her instead. "It's alright, it's alright. It seems I still need to have bodyguards follow you. I won't let you be in danger again."
Susu stopped crying, realizing that he was the one who needed rest and care now, and she couldn't let him worry about her while he was injured.
Despite her longing to stay in his embrace, she straightened herself, helped him lie down, and said, "Huang Xiuli has been arrested. You lie down and recover. The doctor said you not only hit your head but also have a concussion. You'll need to stay in the hospital for a few days and get another CT scan. You can only be discharged if everything is fine."
Tianyi held her hand, refusing to let go, and simply looked at her.
"Why are you looking at me like that? Is the gauze on my head ugly?" Susu covered the injured spot with her hand.
Tianyi saw that her injury was above her left eyebrow. "You're still beautiful. Lie down with me, and let's talk."
Susu shook her head. "This is a hospital room. Doctors and nurses will check on us regularly. What would it look like if we both lay down together?"
"You're injured too, and you need rest. We're both injured, so what's there to be afraid of lying together? Be good," Tianyi said in a commanding tone.
Susu chuckled softly. The lingering shadows of doubt about him and Sophie completely vanished. She gently lay down beside him.
Regardless of whether anything had happened between him and Sophie, she would choose to forgive him. She believed that even if something had occurred, it wasn't intentional on his part.
Tianyi moved one of his pillows to her side, making her more comfortable.
Susu's throat felt tight again, and she bit her lip, murmuring, "Tianyi."
But she could only call his name and couldn't continue. Tianyi responded with a hum and asked, "What's been going on with you lately? I feel like you're speaking strangely."
Susu's voice trembled slightly. "After Sophie left without saying goodbye, I went to her room to look for her passport. I... I found your shirt and underwear in her room. Did you and she... have a relationship? No, I know men can sometimes lose control..."
Tianyi turned to look at her, his anger rising. He gripped her arm tightly. "Mrs. Qin, you are truly magnanimous."
Susu forced a weak smile. "It's alright, really. As long as I know you still love me in your heart, I won't blame you anymore."
"Mrs. Qin!" Tianyi's grip on her arm tightened with his anger, but he couldn't smile. "In your eyes, am I that promiscuous? So much so that I'm not picky about my partners, not even sparing your wife's best friend?"
Susu's arm hurt from his grip, and she felt his anger. She quickly explained, "I didn't mean that. I didn't say you and Sophie were promiscuous..."
"What are you thinking in that little head of yours?" Tianyi's head began to ache from her words. "If my clothes were in Sophie's room, couldn't there be another explanation? Must it be that I lost my clothes there because something happened, and she didn't steal them from our bedroom?"
Susu paused, then understood. "Are you saying nothing happened between you and Sophie, and Sophie stole your clothes?"
"Of course, nothing happened between me and her," Tianyi stated decisively.
Susu immediately burst into tears, but feeling embarrassed to face Tianyi, she buried her head in the quilt, feeling foolish for doubting him.
Tianyi pulled back a corner of the quilt she was using to cover her head and stared at her angrily. "So you don't trust me. If something had really happened with Sophie, what would you have done? Distanced yourself from me? Divorced me?"
Susu cried, "Didn't I just say that if anything had happened, I would forgive you?"
"To hell with your forgiveness! Who wants your forgiveness!" Tianyi exclaimed, his voice filled with rage. "In your eyes, am I that untrustworthy?"
Susu wrapped her arms tightly around his neck, her eyes filled with joyful tears. The heavy stone that had been weighing on her heart finally lifted. "I'm sorry, it's my fault. I was wrong. You can punish me however you want, but please don't be angry anymore."
Tianyi tried to pull her hands away. "My head hurts. Let go."
Susu dared not hold his neck too tightly for fear of affecting his head injury. She released him, letting him lie down properly.
"Does your wound hurt? I'll call the doctor."
"No need. You've angered me so much I might have a brain hemorrhage," Tianyi said, lying flat and no longer looking at her.
Susu rolled over and quickly kissed his lips. "I really know I was wrong. Please don't be angry anymore."
Tianyi looked at her helplessly, his eyes cold and deep.
Susu couldn't tell if he was still angry or not. To be safe, she tried to appease him. "Are you hungry? What do you want to eat? I'll go buy it for you."
As she said this, she wanted to get up, but Tianyi grabbed her hand. "I'm not hungry. What am I going to do with you? Actually, there's something I wanted to tell you..."
Before Tianyi could finish, someone pushed the door open and entered the room.
Susu immediately pulled her hand away and stood up. She saw Xiao Anjing rushing in.
An Jing saw Tianyi lying in bed with his eyes open and exclaimed with surprise, "You're finally awake! That's great."
"What's wrong?" Tianyi asked, looking at him. "You don't knock when you enter a hospital room."
"Oh, oh, did I disturb you?" An Jing asked apologetically, having understood the implication in Tianyi's words.
Susu smiled. "No, I was just about to go buy him something to eat. You've come at the right time. You two talk."
With a slight smile, Susu glanced at Tianyi again and left the room.
