Chapter 270 A Belly Full of Fire

Gu Susu went to the kitchen and took out some usable ingredients from the refrigerator. As she washed the vegetables, she felt tired and wanted to sleep, but she shook her head, remembering her promise to take care of Yang Sijie. No matter how tired she was, she should still make him a good meal every day.

After dinner, Yang Sijie lay on the bed reading English materials and magazines, while Gu Susu sat beside him, hand-sewing the evening gown.

Occasionally, she would glance at the English magazines Yang Sijie was reading. They were filled with many English professional terms, likely related to medical equipment.

Yang Sijie would also look at her from time to time, seeing how skillful her hands were with the needle and thread as she expertly attached a small bag of sequins to the gown.

Twice, their eyes met, and they couldn't help but smile at each other, a familiar understanding passing between them.

The room, which had always felt cool to Yang Sijie, now had warmth with someone he liked in it, and the long nights were no longer lonely.

Gu Susu, fearing he would be uncomfortable lying down for too long, would put down her work every so often to help him shift to his side.

As she helped him turn, his face inadvertently came close to her neck, and her hair naturally brushed against his face.

The pleasant scent from her hair, mixed with her natural fragrance, made him lose his focus and move his lips towards her neck.

Gu Susu felt the change in his body and immediately let go, asking, "Is it okay to lie like this?"

Yang Sijie snapped back to attention, fumbling the magazine in his hand. "Yes, lying on my side like this is very comfortable."

He saw the magazine fall to the floor and tried to pick it up himself, but Gu Susu quickly stopped him, "You lie down, I'll get it."

As Gu Susu bent down to pick up the thick magazine from the floor, she found an invitation card had fallen out.

She looked at it curiously and froze as if she had been struck by acupuncture. It was a wedding invitation for Qin Tianyi and Shu Yan.

Huo Jin had received their invitation, and Yang Sijie had also received one. No wonder Yang Sijie had said last time that he could take her to Qin Tianyi's wedding.

She dared not look further and quickly closed it, tucking it back into the magazine before returning it to Yang Sijie.

Yang Sijie took the magazine and noticed the change in her expression when she saw the invitation. He smiled, took out the card, and said, "Shu Zhongze sent it to me. It's rare that his Shu family thinks highly of me and invites me to his daughter's wedding. However, given my condition, I probably can't go tomorrow. I forgot to give the invitation to Mark today, so I'll have him go in my place."

Gu Susu let out a soft "Oh" and sat back on the chair, picking up the gown to continue altering it, trying her best not to dwell on Qin Tianyi's wedding.

But her heart couldn't help but think that Qin Tianyi's wedding was tomorrow, and after tomorrow, they would truly start their new lives separately.

Seeing that she didn't say anything, Yang Sijie placed the invitation on the low cabinet beside the bed, not putting it back into the magazine.

Although he couldn't go tomorrow, since Shu Zhongze had invited him, he couldn't completely disregard the Shu family's face and had to send Mark in his stead.

He sent a message to Mark, informing him of the wedding time and location, and then continued with his own work.

Gu Susu felt her heart unsettled again, pricking her finger several times while sewing sequins.

She told Yang Sijie to sleep early, but she herself had no intention of sleeping. She claimed the gown wasn't finished, but in reality, she was redoing the parts she had already altered.

That night, she didn't listen to Yang Sijie's suggestion to sleep in the guest room. Instead, she sat in the chair, continuously altering the gown. Eventually, overcome by exhaustion, she leaned against the back of the chair and fell asleep.

When she woke up, she felt her phone vibrating in her pocket. She quickly took it out and saw that it was already eight o'clock in the morning.

"Oh my gosh!" she jolted awake. Yesterday, they had agreed she would deliver the gown to Sasha's place at eight this morning.

She saw Yang Sijie was already awake on the bed, sitting up and working on his laptop.

In a flurry, she cut the loose threads from the gown and asked, "Brother Sijie, when did you wake up? Why didn't you wake me?"

"I saw you went to bed so late last night and wanted you to sleep a bit longer," Yang Sijie said with a smile.

She grabbed the gown, unsure of what to do. "But this gown needs to be delivered to the client at eight this morning. It's already past the time. It's ruined!"

Yang Sijie didn't know she had been altering the gown all night and that it was needed first thing in the morning. He quickly said, "I'm sorry, I didn't know you had something to do so early. Don't worry, try contacting the client first and see if they can postpone it."

"Okay." Gu Susu immediately ran into the bathroom, quickly washed up, changed into simple clothes, and folded the gown, preparing to leave.

Yang Sijie watched her, worried and anxious, wishing he could help her himself, but any strain caused his back wound to ache.

Gu Susu saw his concern and said gratefully, "Brother Sijie, don't worry, I can handle it myself. I'll contact Allen right away to come and check your wound again. I'll explain to my supervisor and the client on the way. It's just past eight o'clock, so I shouldn't be too late, and the client will understand."

With that, she hurriedly picked up the gown and her bag and left.

Afraid Yang Sijie would worry, she waited until she was in the car at the villa entrance before calling Lu Zhiming back.

Before Lu Zhiming could get angry on the phone, she quickly explained, "Mr. Lu, I'm so sorry, I forgot to set my alarm last night and overslept. I'm on my way to deliver Sasha's altered gown now."

Lu Zhiming had feared something like this would happen and had started calling her an hour earlier, but she hadn't answered.

Later, Sasha also called, questioning him about why Gu Susu hadn't delivered her gown yet. He could only say she was on her way and tried to stall for Gu Susu.

But now the agreed-upon time had passed, and Sasha had unleashed a torrent of anger at him. He was also furious. He had intended to yell at Gu Susu.

Gu Susu finally called back. It was useless for him to yell at her now, so he suppressed his anger and said, "Xiao Gu, I used to think you were very reliable. To make such a basic mistake at a crucial moment... I don't know how to explain this to Miss Sasha. I've already told her you're stuck in traffic, so you contact her yourself to resolve it."

Gu Susu knew the seriousness of the situation and thought that no matter what, she had to satisfy Sasha. She said, "Director Lu, thank you. It's my responsibility, and I will resolve it properly. I will not drag the company or you down."

Lu Zhiming hung up without further comment. Blaming someone after a problem occurred was useless; solving the problem was the most important thing.

Gu Susu started the car and contacted Sasha using the car's Bluetooth.

As soon as the call connected, Sasha, without waiting for Gu Susu to speak, angrily said into the phone, "Gu Susu! Why aren't you answering your phone? Was the time I told you yesterday not clear enough!"
