Gu Susu looked at Chang Qingchuan and said, "President Qin agreed to let me join."
"Join? What position?" Chang Qingchuan asked.
Gu Susu suppressed her joy at seeing him again and said, "Designer. Are you in the design department now?"
Chang Qingchuan nodded. The receptionist's eyes widened as she looked at him and asked, "Chief Chang, do you know her?"
"Yes, I'll take her to the design department to get her settled in," Chang Qingchuan said, glancing at the receptionist.
"But she doesn't have an offer letter..."
Chang Qingchuan replied, "That's fine. President Qin spoke to me, and the offer letter will be provided later."
"Oh." The receptionist no longer blocked Gu Susu, but she looked at Gu Susu again, wondering about her background. First, she said President Qin introduced her, and now she knew their chief designer.
She had been working as a receptionist for over a year. She knew President Qin had never introduced anyone to work at the company, and Chief Chang rarely spoke to female colleagues beyond work. They were practically the two icebergs of the company.
"Come, follow me." Chang Qingchuan smiled at Gu Susu and led her to the elevator.
The receptionist thought she was hallucinating. Chief Chang had actually smiled at this woman. They, the female colleagues, had even bet on whether Chief Chang would ever smile.
The colleagues who bet he would smile had all lost; they had never won.
This was incredible. This woman must have a significant background.
Gu Susu followed Chang Qingchuan into the elevator. Seeing they were the only two inside, she finally smiled, "Chief Chang, you're doing well."
"Don't tease me. You weren't at the company for these two years. Otherwise, there wouldn't be any chief designer positions for me," Chang Qingchuan said with a laugh. "If you hadn't come back, Mi Shang would almost be a menswear brand."
Gu Susu was slightly surprised. Was Qin Tianyi asking her to return to Mi Shang as a designer not just to control her, but because he needed a designer specializing in womenswear?
"Thank you. If you hadn't helped me out just now, I probably wouldn't have been able to join today."
"Alas, you'll understand when you've been at the company for a while. Almost none of the old employees are left. They've all been replaced by new people. The company's reputation is growing, so the receptionists have become quite arrogant. They've been complained about by visiting clients more than once, so don't take it too personally," Chang Qingchuan explained.
Gu Susu, who had been about to comment, said, "She was just following the rules. By the way, you mentioned in QQ last time that you had something to tell me in person. What was it?"
"It's nothing..." Chang Qingchuan was saying when the elevator reached the design department floor. His voice lowered, "We'll talk about it over dinner when you have time."
As they stepped out of the elevator, a colleague who had already arrived at the office greeted Chang Qingchuan.
Gu Susu knew very well that Chang Qingchuan was talented. As long as someone gave him a good development space, his designs would be no less than hers. But she hadn't expected that Qin Tianyi would be the one to give Chang Qingchuan this opportunity.
She had to admire Qin Tianyi's unique approach to hiring.
Chang Qingchuan led Gu Susu to the center of the design department's office area, clapped his hands to summon the colleagues, and introduced her, "Today, I'd like to introduce a new colleague, Gu Susu. She's a talented graduate from Lancheng Academy of Fine Arts. Please take care of her on her first day."
The designers gathered around Chang Qingchuan looked at each other. They had all joined as new employees and had never been introduced so grandly by Chief Chang. They had only quietly nodded.
However, a few reacted first and immediately applauded, saying, "Welcome, welcome."
Gu Susu said a bit sheepishly, "I'll need everyone's guidance in the future."
"I'll give you a tour of the design department so you can familiarize yourself with the environment," Chang Qingchuan said, personally leading Gu Susu around.
This further astonished the people in the design department. Their boss had never done such a thing. Newcomers were usually put to work immediately. He not only held himself to the standards of a workaholic but also expected the same from everyone in the design department.
However, despite their surprise, they didn't dare to discuss it openly and returned to their seats to work.
Gu Susu followed Chang Qingchuan around the design department and was impressed by how much the layout had changed. She used to visit the design department frequently when she was at Mi Shang, but she didn't recognize anyone.
In just two years, Qin Tianyi had transformed Mi Shang into a completely new company.
She knew that before she left, the old employees of Mi Shang had been replaced due to the Huang Xiuli mother and daughter. She was aware of this, but she hadn't expected such significant changes afterward.
"The design is completely different, but this office layout is more reasonable," Gu Susu remarked.
"Yes, yes, I think so too," Chang Qingchuan said, pointing to the empty office next to his. "You'll be designing in this office from now on."
Gu Susu looked at the designers working in the open-plan office and felt that Chang Qingchuan's arrangement was irregular. She politely declined, "This isn't quite right. A vacant desk would be fine."
Chang Qingchuan intended to insist on giving her a private office, but Gu Susu quickly added, "Senior Brother, I've just returned to Mi Shang and want to keep a low profile. I don't want everyone to know about my relationship with Qin Tianyi too quickly."
Chang Qingchuan had no choice but to nod. Gu Susu couldn't help but ask again, "Is Qin Tianyi at the company today? If he knows you brought me into the design department, will he..."
"It's fine," Chang Qingchuan interrupted her. "President Qin won't suspect anything between us anymore. Besides, he's not at Mi Shang today; he's probably gone to Ao Xiang's headquarters."
"Ao Xiang?"
"After Qin's company collapsed, Mi Shang became part of Ao Xiang Group and is now a subsidiary of Ao Xiang," Chang Qingchuan informed her. "A lot has happened in the two years you were gone. I'll tell you slowly later. President Qin doesn't come to Mi Shang often, only occasionally."
Gu Susu felt much more relaxed hearing this and was even happy. This meant she wouldn't be working under Qin Tianyi's constant supervision and wouldn't have to face him every day at the company, which would make her feel more at ease at work.
"That's good."
Chang Qingchuan led her to an empty desk and said, "Sit here for now and do your best." He then patted her shoulder and turned back to his office.
Gu Susu sat down, looking at the relatively clean and tidy desk. She opened the two drawers underneath, which were both empty. She began to think about how to arrange her new desk and what else she should bring to the company tomorrow.
A female colleague sitting next to her handed her a small bag of snacks, "Here, have this. It supplements your daily vitamin needs."
Gu Susu didn't usually eat snacks, but thinking she needed to build good relationships with her new colleagues, she accepted it. "Thank you."
"By the way, you graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts. Which year? I did too," the female colleague asked enthusiastically.
