Chapter 178 Harder Than Killing Me

He Li stayed in Hawaii for a few days, finding it rather dull. All day long, it was just looking at legs.

As a cultivator, what was he doing looking at legs all day? It was undignified!

He Li patted his pocket and sighed softly, lamenting, "The feeling of being broke is truly unbearable."

Yes, the reason he found Hawaii uninteresting was that his meager funds had vanished.

So, he simply returned to Canada and sought out Willow. It was a matter of urgent need, and he had swallowed his pride to ask for help. Surely Willow wouldn't abandon him?

Under the cover of night, Xiao Lan ran across the sea, treading on water. He Li sat on Xiao Lan's head, propping up his chin, cradling Xiao Lan's hat. After all, this hat, with its two holes, was the silly dog's only possession, and it couldn't be lost.

At dawn, facing the first rays of golden sunlight, He Li led Xiao Lan to Willow's doorstep. When He Li had left before, Willow had given him a key, saying he could always come back if he couldn't afford to eat elsewhere.

He Li opened the door. The moment he stepped inside, he saw that the backrest of the living room sofa had been laid flat, transforming it into a sofa bed. Two people were lying on it: one was Willow, and the other was a woman.

Willow was dating someone?

A question mark popped into He Li's mind. He wasn't sure, so he looked closer.

He Li craned his neck for a better look. He confirmed it was a woman. She was well-endowed, not particularly beautiful, but very tall, with her long blonde hair spread out.

Willow lay sprawled out, with the woman nestled in his arms. Neither of them was awake.

He Li gritted his teeth, filled with resentment. Damn it! Although he had told Willow to live well before he left, he had only meant for him to stay alive. Who the hell told him to get a girlfriend?

How could he find a girlfriend?

His brother having a girlfriend was more painful than killing him.

He Li felt a surge of indignation and defiance. Finally, gritting his teeth, he retreated from the room, closed the door, went out to buy a hamburger, and returned to squat outside Willow's house, eating his burger and drinking his cola.

He had nowhere else to go. Returning home was out of the question; he had caused such a mess in Japan that he couldn't go back. In Canada, Willow was the only person he knew.

That unlucky Willow was still inside, sleeping with his girlfriend.

He had no choice but to wait. What else could he do? Wait for Willow to wake up, and then he could decide where to go.

After He Li finished his burger and drink, he simply sat down, put his arm around Xiao Lan, and sighed deeply. "Xiao Lan," he mused, "Willow has a girlfriend, and I have a dog. It's just that my dog is a real dog."

Damn it.

A moment later,

There was movement inside the house.

Then,

The door opened.

Willow emerged, his eyes still heavy with sleep. The first thing he saw was He Li sitting at his doorstep. He Li also looked up at Willow.

Their eyes met, and neither spoke.

Willow's gaze seemed to ask: Why are you sitting at the door, holding Xiao Lan?

He Li's gaze seemed to ask: Why do you have a girlfriend and sleep with her?

Willow: He Li is sitting there, holding a dog?

He Li: Willow is sleeping, holding a dog! httpδ:/m.kuAisugg.nět

Perhaps because Willow hadn't made any noise for a long time and wasn't coming out or returning, the woman inside called out, "Honey, what's wrong?"

Willow turned his head. "Nothing, just two dogs."

He Li was immediately displeased and stood up, intending to argue with Willow.

Willow quickly grabbed He Li, then closed the door, saying, "Wait a moment before going in. My girlfriend is changing."

He Li rolled his eyes, then grabbed Willow. The more than 270-pound man was lifted up and thrown into the corner. He said fiercely, "I told you to live well, so why did you get a girlfriend?"

Willow was also stunned. Yes, why *had* he found a girlfriend?

Wait!

Why *couldn't* he have a girlfriend?

Willow rolled his eyes, pushed He Li away, threw the trash bag into the bin, and said, "Why can't I have a girlfriend?"

"Tch."

He Li pouted and, looking at Willow's retreating back, said, "Don't tell me she's after your money."

Before He Li left, he had given all his Canadian dollars to Willow, about 320,000. This was a fortune. In a country where people couldn't save money, spent beyond their means every month, and lived by paying bills with bills, this money would make Willow well-off, if not rich.

Just thinking about not having to overspend every month, of not having to borrow from Peter to pay Paul, and having over 300,000 in savings, made him happy.

Willow frowned, then relaxed. He turned back, patted He Li on the shoulder, and smiled, "Don't worry, brother. Sen Ersha isn't that kind of woman. Our relationship is very good."

"And I haven't been spending extravagantly or going to high-end bars. We didn't meet in places like that. She's my colleague."

He Li pursed his lips, saying nothing more. It wasn't that he was maliciously suspecting others, but there really weren't many good people. If she was truly a colleague, why hadn't she dated Willow before? They only got together after He Li left and gave him money.

He had only been gone for about two weeks.

"Brother, don't overthink it. Let's go home. Sen Ersha makes a great breakfast," Willow said, smiling and putting his arm around He Li's shoulder. He then petted Xiao Lan's head and went back inside.

When Sen Ersha saw He Li, she was taken aback. She then looked at Willow and asked, "Honey, who is this..."

"Sen Ersha, this is He Li, my good brother. And this is his pet, Xiao Lan," Willow said thoughtfully, not forgetting to introduce Xiao Lan.

"Hello, He Li. I'm Sen Ersha," Sen Ersha said, smiling and extending her hand generously to He Li.

He Li also extended his hand and lightly touched Sen Ersha's fingertips before quickly withdrawing. He then smiled, "Hello. Willow always talks about a very beautiful and charming colleague he admires from the bottom of his heart. I suppose it's you."

Sen Ersha tilted her head, placed her hands on her hips, and smiled teasingly at Willow, saying, "I think the very beautiful and charming colleague he admires from the bottom of his heart isn't me, but Ai Fenmi."

Willow gave an embarrassed laugh, then pushed He Li into the living room. Sen Ersha raised an eyebrow at Willow and walked into the kitchen.

He Li was a bit bewildered. Had he just flattered the wrong person?

He looked at Willow, surprised that this old friend had so many hidden depths.

Willow gave He Li an exasperated look. He glanced at the kitchen first, then said quietly to He Li, "Sen Ersha is jealous of Ai Fenmi's knowledge and beauty. Of course, Ai Fenmi is indeed more beautiful than her, and her temperament and knowledge are far superior."

He Li nodded. Given his girlfriend's looks, she *should* be jealous of someone else.

After breakfast, He Li left. Now that Willow had a girlfriend, He Li couldn't stay at Willow's place and feel comfortable being supported by him.

Willow took He Li to a hotel, booked a room, gave him some money, and then rushed off to work.

In the hotel room, He Li sat on the sofa, stroking Xiao Lan's head, and sighed mournfully,

"Xiao Lan, Willow that idiot isn't a true friend. He brought me to a hotel with such a strong aura of demonic energy."
