Chapter 471 Remembering an Old Friend Amidst the Meteor Shower

He Li sat on a floating meteorite, watching Xia Hu Chu use divine power to pull divine stones from all over the universe, piling them up to rebuild the divine realm.

He Li didn't understand why they didn't choose a star with good scenery as the divine realm. Xia Hu Chu insisted on rebuilding it, but since Xia Hu Chu said so, He Li didn't object. If he wanted to build it, let him build it, since he didn't have to do the work himself.

No matter how well the divine realm was built, it wasn't his home, so he didn't care.

A beam of golden light flew from the depths of the universe and landed in front of He Li. It was a divine race soldier. He knelt before He Li, head bowed, and respectfully said, "Greetings, Divine King."

He Li was unaccustomed to such a greeting. He was about to say something, but swallowed it back. His expression was conflicted as he asked, "How is the central battlefield?"

"Night启 Divine Lord has gathered the divinity of fallen comrades and thrown them into the Pure Sea to await rebirth. The injured comrades have all recovered. Night启 Divine Lord is investigating the荒 race, as the 荒 race has not been completely annihilated, and there is fear of future trouble."

He Li nodded and said, "Send word to the central, eastern, and western battlefields to transfer some divine race soldiers back to the divine realm to help Divine Lord Xia Hu Chu rebuild the divine realm."

"Yes!"

The divine race soldier left.

He Li, however, began to worry. If it were like this in the future, sitting here waiting for them to report all sorts of messy things to him, just thinking about it gave him a headache.

He Li leaned back, lying on the meteorite, took out a bottle of wine from his sleeve, and looked at the brilliant starry sky, drinking the wine sip by sip. Only by mastering the law of time did one truly feel how quickly time passed.

Every second, every minute, slipped through his fingers, like water he couldn't grasp, sand he couldn't hold, people he couldn't keep, only able to watch helplessly, with no way to stop it.

"You can drink now?" Xiao Yue came and sat beside He Li, looking up at the starry sky together.

"Yes," He Li smiled and said, "Since you all left, my spirit no longer needs to be tense, so I can naturally drink."

He Li took a sip of wine, hesitated, and asked, "Have you all been well these years?"

Xiao Yue had expected He Li to ask this. His eyes were full of smiles, and he replied softly, "Very well. We haven't separated; we live together. After all, we've gotten used to it, and we're reluctant to be apart.

I often visit Willow in Victoria. That guy is married. His wife isn't very beautiful, but she's very enthusiastic and down-to-earth. She treats Willow very well and even gave him a pair of twin daughters. Willow has quit smoking and drinking for his wife and daughters. He opened a fur shop and is living a good, stable life. To set an example for his daughters, he also set up a study in a proper manner.

He said he misses you very much. He keeps a photo of you and him on his computer in the study. The photo frame isn't expensive, but he made it himself, using materials he considered the best and most durable, which won't break in a hundred or a thousand years."

He Li smiled with relief, "I was still worried that he would do outrageous things after suddenly getting money, or that he would be cheated. Now it seems I worried too much."

Xiao Yue added, "A virtuous wife at home prevents her husband from doing wrong. His wife has taught him a lot."

"How is Kuer?" He Li asked again.

"He's become the town mayor."

"What?" He Li didn't react for a moment.

Xiao Yue laughed, "Two years after you left, their town mayor retired, and he was elected. He didn't know how to be a town mayor, so he just wore ill-fitting overalls, with the knife you gave him at his waist, and wandered around the town government. Whenever someone came to him for advice, he would put on a stern face, nod as if he understood, and then hand it over to the deputy mayor. Haha... He said being a town mayor was more tiring than fighting demons.

Also, his son is in middle school. His grades are average. He's in his rebellious phase, and Kuer worries about him every day. He's reluctant to hit him. Once, his son got into trouble at school, and he slapped him. After returning home, he locked himself in his room and cried."

He Li imagined the scene of the two-meter-tall, three-hundred-jin strongman crying into his pillow and burst into laughter. The scene must have been hilarious. It was a pity he wasn't there, or he would have had a good laugh at him.

"Oh, and he said, when I see you, I should tell you to pay him back."

He Li's smile vanished instantly. He gnashed his teeth. Where would he get the money to pay him back?

After chatting for a while longer.

He Li suddenly asked, "Are they all doing well?"

Xiao Yue was silent for a moment, then nodded, "They're all well. Min Liang and Sister Jiang got married. Jin Fang sent a red envelope in your name. Susan doesn't drink anymore and has taken over as the director of the Southern War Zone. Tao Xue has withdrawn from the Spirit Management Committee and returned home to learn business from her mother. She is now a branch president. Their lives are all peaceful and stable."

A meteor streaked across the sky, followed by more and more meteors streaking through the void. A grand meteor shower traversed beside the two of them. In the fleeting passage of time, He Li had instead become the most tranquil one.

"Very good... that's good."

He Li murmured softly, raised his hand, and took a sip of wine. His dark eyes reflected the brilliant meteor shower, his gaze seeming to pierce through billions of light-years to land on Earth.

He saw the clumsy, large Fatty Willow struggling to hold his two daughters.

He saw Kuer wearing ill-fitting overalls, a knife at his waist, pretending to review documents in his office in the government compound, actually thinking about how his son's studies were today, whether he had gotten into trouble at school, and looking forward to a roasted whole lamb for dinner, sprinkled with a thin layer of cumin and chili powder, followed by three large bowls of rice.

He saw Min Liang and Sister Jiang living under the same roof, each facing a computer, arguing over a small technical issue, and then holding hands to go to the supermarket to buy groceries, chatting happily about daily life.

He saw Tao Xue sitting in a spacious conference room, wearing an exquisite ladies' suit, commanding her employees.

He saw Susan finally putting down her wine glass and standing by the floor-to-ceiling window, looking at the city view.

He saw the solitary tombstone in Binjiang Mausoleum, with a few bouquets of flowers before it, their petals falling and melting into the soil.

"All well, that's good."

He Li gently placed his left hand on the hilt of the knife at his waist, stroking the scabbard. Even after so many things had happened and so many people had been met, there was always a piece of pure land in his heart, holding the most beautiful and purest memories.

"What have you all been doing these past few years?" He Li turned to look at Xiao Yue and asked with a smile. He was very curious how these people with such different personalities lived in the human world.

Xiao Yue shrugged and said, "I'm working in a company. It's a business trip. Uncle Li opened a small supermarket on the street in front of Guiyu Jiangnan residential area. Xiao Xi likes to transform into different people and travel around writing travelogues. Jin Fang has changed many jobs. He said he wanted to experience life, but actually, he doesn't know anything, and his jobs never last long. You'll never guess Chen Sui's job."

He Li blinked, "What job?"

Xiao Yue laughed, "He's a hot martial arts star now, all real kung fu."

He Li blinked, and after a moment, burst into laughter.
