Chapter 79 Cubs’ Crucible (2)

Back in the room, Lu Mingming silently changed into the loose clothing she usually wore at the hotel. Her hair was messy and hung loosely over her shoulders, obscuring her face and making her mood unreadable. In the tranquil atmosphere, all three cubs sensed something was strangely off.

To prevent the little kitten from catching a chill, Lu Mingming used wet wipes to clean each of its tiny paws before kindly placing it on the bed to absorb some warmth from the covers. The little kitten thought the same, but was bolder in its actions. Nestled against Lu Mingming's elbow, it obediently curled into a small rice ball, not daring to disturb her. Due to its young age, the kitten fell asleep within five minutes, exposing its soft, white belly. Seeing this, the two older cubs easily jumped onto the bed and snuggled up to Lu Mingming.

The little white tiger actively tilted its neck, revealing its fluffy, warm nape, expecting Lu Mingming to gently nuzzle it to calm her mood. To its surprise, Lu Mingming remained unmoved, silently scrolling through the Star Net. Usually, she would completely disregard her appearance, lounging around like a soft, floppy mass. Today, however, she was particularly mindful of her behavior, keeping her body completely covered by the quilt.

Leaning against a pile of soft pillows, Lu Mingming quietly searched the Star Net:

"Can beastmen transform back into their original forms?"

Replies:

"楼主 (OP) is overthinking. Once they become human, they are generally in a stable state. To revert to their original form, one needs either a reversion gene disease or to be severely weakened under absolute mental suppression by an enemy."

Lu Mingming understood it somewhat, at least ruling out one possibility for her two cubs to disguise themselves in their original forms. Tangyuan and Xuegao had a diagnosed genetic disease, according to the doctor! Thinking of this, Lu Mingming's mood suddenly improved. Was she just too stressed and thinking too much lately?

Lu Mingming pinched her own smooth cheeks, unable to draw a conclusion for the time being. She then messaged Jasmine privately again. Jasmine had alluded to something before, but Lu Mingming hadn't taken it too seriously then. Had Jasmine noticed it early on?

"Jasmine, what did you mean by 'suspicious behavior'?"

Jasmine replied quickly: "What?"

"That the little one had some strange traits."

Jasmine was in a difficult position. She knew the little cub was problematic, but she had been warned by her superiors. Could she say it directly and explicitly?

"Hahaha, it's nothing. I was just worried you might have been scammed when you adopted a cub back then."

Full of holes. Lu Mingming thought. Such words only cast a hazy white veil over the truth. As if sensing she had said the wrong thing, Jasmine quickly tried to cover up:

"Regardless, the cubs always like you. Relax~"

That made sense. Knowing she wouldn't get anything more from Jasmine, Lu Mingming thanked her. However, Jasmine's words did help to resolve some of Lu Mingming's concerns, making her feel considerably lighter. She broke free from the world of the Star Net and met the small white tiger's resentful gaze. Lu Mingming reached out and gently scratched the little cub's chin, eliciting a comfortable purr from the giant cat. Under the control of her magical fingers, it slowly lowered itself, stretching lazily.

After appeasing the cub, Lu Mingming stood up, threw on a jacket, and headed out. "I'm going to the kitchen to make you something delicious. Wait for me, sister."

The little kitten had woken up when Lu Mingming was scratching the white tiger's chin. Hearing this, it happily scampered around on the bed. Hooray for delicious food!

Watching Lu Mingming close the door with a "click," the cubs were left alone, each dominating their own space on the bed. Without Lu Mingming acting as a bridge, their fragile alliance seemed on the verge of collapse. The three cubs occupied themselves, maintaining a terrifying silence.

After being forced back into its cub form, the little kitten's body could not compare to its previous speed of seventy push-ups per minute. *I am a kitten.* The little kitten self-hypnotized, curled back into its nest, and went to sleep.

"Who are you?" A message wave suddenly came from its mental sea, the voice clear and polite.

The little kitten's big, watery eyes were filled with confusion. It looked at the two giant monsters surrounding it, a flicker of clarity in its gaze. *Which cub is this? Such terrifying observational skills.* The little kitten remained silent. After waiting for a while without a further message, it prepared to go back to sleep.

"You don't need to pretend. You exposed too much downstairs."

The little kitten, who had just closed its eyes, showed a fleeting look of surprise that the white tiger quickly caught.

"Pretend what?"

The white tiger stepped onto the soft bed and walked slowly towards the little kitten, its eyes filled with agitation. *The reversion gene disease has acted up again.* The little Samoyed glanced over and considerately moved aside. The weight of a growing tiger was not something a small cub could easily bear. With prints forming with every step, the little kitten couldn't feign ignorance.

"I didn't expect this situation to happen again. This dog already annoyed me the first time. What are you scheming by coming to Lu Mingming's side?" The white tiger looked down at the fist-sized cat cub, its naturally superior demeanor and imposing aura pressing down, causing a tremor in the heart. The little kitten became fully alert, its fur bristling like a dandelion. It arched its back and retreated step by step to a safe distance.

"How interesting." The white tiger snorted and extended a paw to discipline the cub. However, the cat, being too small and agile compared to its palm-sized paw, dodged away with a few bounds towards the Samoyed. Even this small movement left the little kitten panting. The little Samoyed glanced at it but did not intervene, continuing with its own activities. Yi Fu now understood the situation. The one who communicated with him in his mental sea initially must have been the Samoyed, who had been observing all along.

The white tiger, frequently seen on the live stream, had possessiveness that was too strong, and its mental state seemed unstable. It likely only disguised itself as a well-behaved cub in front of Lu Mingming, deceiving all the live stream viewers. When they first met, Yi Fu had suspected that both cubs were somewhat unusual, but he hadn't expected them to be so deeply hidden.

"I have no other intentions. Someone will pick me up in a few days," Yi Fu said in a deep voice.

"You better hope so." The white tiger glanced at him, and a cold aura condensed from its mental power shot directly towards him. It controlled the intensity of its mental power, ensuring the little cub would feel a moment of extreme freezing as a warning, without being harmed.

S-class?! Yi Fu's expression became increasingly serious. He used all his strength to resist. In fact, the mental power carried a fierce energy that could not be underestimated. Moreover, Yi Fu was currently in a weakened state. His original A-class mental power only exerted half its strength to resist. But compared to an S-class mental attack, it was far from enough. As the cold needle flew towards him, Yi Fu's eyes narrowed to a slit, but at the last second before impact, it was met by a wall of fire, quietly turning into mist and rising into the sky—Morian had intervened.

"Another one?!" Yi Fu looked at the giant beast behind him in shock. The white tiger also looked impassively at the nonchalant little Samoyed.

"Hey, don't start fighting." Morian tapped the comms device on his neck and reminded them, "Mingming's starting a live stream."
