After returning, Consort Hua was so furious that she had all the chrysanthemums in the palace discarded, declaring that chrysanthemums were forbidden in Yikun Palace from then on.
It was unfortunate that the Emperor sent a green chrysanthemum, which ultimately led to him being cuckolded.
Mei Zhuang felt unwell and summoned Imperial Physician Wen. A single encounter resulted in her pregnancy. The Emperor, blissfully unaware, remarked that chrysanthemums were blooming in the palace, mistaking it for an ill omen, when in fact it signified great joy (green).
The green chrysanthemum foreshadowed the green hat incident. However, Mei Zhuang tragically died from complications and hemorrhage during childbirth due to this indulgence.
From this, one could say it was a prophecy of her ending.
Next is An Lingrong.
An Lingrong gained favor through her singing voice. Later, she followed Zhen Huan when she was banished to Penglai Isle. kuAiδugg
Consort Hua privately mocked her, saying, "A woman like An Lingrong, without family backing, no matter how much she strains her voice, will only ever be a singing girl!"
Her words proved true, as An Lingrong was eventually ennobled as Consort Li, remaining a singing oriole until her death.
And then, a prophecy of the Empress.
The Emperor, in recognition of Nian Gengyao's merits, planned to promote Consort Hua's rank. Consort Hua, believing she would be made Imperial Noble Consort, engaged in a debate centered around the Empress and the position of Imperial Noble Consort.
During this, Consort Hua remarked, "This concubine only knows that injustice breeds discontent. This concubine merely uttered a few casual words, yet it has provoked such a lengthy discourse from Her Majesty the Empress. Those who did not know would assume Her Majesty the Empress, like the Empress Borjigin, treats the title of Imperial Noble Consort as a formidable enemy."
In the drama, Zhen Huan was promoted to Empress Dowager with the title of Noble Consort Xi. However, in the original novel, Zhen Huan ascended to the throne of Empress Dowager as Imperial Noble Consort.
At that time, Zhen Huan, in order to bring down the Empress, planned to use her pregnancy as a trap. The Empress, aware of Zhen Huan's scheme, adamantly refused to visit Zhen Huan's palace. Upon hearing that Zhen Huan was requesting her presence, she reacted as if facing a formidable enemy.
Yet, in the end, the Empress could not escape the scheme. By fabricating a plot of harming the imperial heir, she inadvertently revealed the cause of Chun Yuan's death, completely overthrowing the Empress.
Therefore, the statement, "Treats the title of Imperial (Noble Consort Xi) as a formidable enemy," served as a foreshadowing of the Empress's downfall at the hands of Zhen Huan.
Finally, Consort Hua also prophesied her own end.
During a scene where she watched a play, Consort Hua targeted the Empress, mocking her as the legal wife who was not favored and was even a daughter of a concubine, using the opera "Xue Ding Shan Conquers the West."
Among her lines, she said, "If this consort were Fan Lihua, she would rather leave the court and seek her own path, than to watch her husband's heart be elsewhere."
This statement, on the surface, satirized the Empress's lack of favor, deeming her inferior even to Fan Lihua. In reality, it was a prophecy of her own fate.
There is an ancient saying, "A wife of humble beginnings should not be cast aside."
For a wife, the greatest sorrow is to be despised and cast aside by her husband.
Yet, Consort Hua, in her pursuit of the Emperor's love, declared she would rather leave of her own accord than endure a husband whose heart was elsewhere.
If her husband's heart was indeed elsewhere, or if the Emperor's affection was nothing but a false pretense, then she would prefer death to living on.
Zhen Huan, seeing through this, attacked her heart, devaluing her relationship with the Emperor to worthlessness, driving her to a bitter suicide.
Besides these five key characters, Consort Hua inadvertently prophesied many other people and events.
For instance, when arranging for Zhen Huan to reside in Suiyu Pavilion, she remarked, "Who knows, she might conceive an imperial child like Noble Consort Fang." Zhen Huan indeed became pregnant. Or when she mocked Concubine Gua 6 for her dreams, predicting she would ultimately meet a more tragic end than herself. Eventually, Concubine Gua 6's family was annihilated, and she herself was beaten to death and dragged to a mass grave.
