Gentle Sleep Instructor
Chapter 1700 Red Room
"Peng!"
A sudden, deafening crash exploded outside the door, and a door was slammed open. It was very close to their room, and Tang Qisheng's eyes widened in shock.
"Hmm? Why isn't it here? I clearly smelled the scent of living people." Accompanied by sounds of rummaging, the voice of the doctor from before echoed eerily.
Tang Qisheng understood immediately. So, what Zhu Jie meant by the incorrect number of footsteps was that there was one person missing, and that person was hiding in the corridor outside, waiting for them to walk right into their trap.
Luckily, Zhu Jie was meticulous, or the consequences would have been unimaginable.
"Thump, thump, thump."
The sound of footsteps grew closer. The doctors who had pretended to leave returned. "What about it? I told you that you were just being paranoid. Who would be alive at this hour? The last batch of patients has already been sent to the anatomy lab."
"But I definitely smelled it. Strange..."
The doctor seemed unwilling to give up. Accompanied by two loud crashes, two more doors were smashed open, only a wall away from the room where Tang Qisheng and Zhu Jie were hiding.
Finally, the footsteps came to a stop outside their door. Tang Qisheng stood in front of Zhu Jie, his breathing almost impossible to control. Although he knew it would be of little use, it was all he could do. He couldn't help but sigh inwardly. He had failed to save Jiangcheng's Wang Fugui after all, betraying the other man's expectations.
Just as he was preparing for a desperate struggle, a rustling sound suddenly came from the end of the corridor, like the countless legs of a giant centipede simultaneously scraping against the walls.
"Damn it! It's the Dean!" A doctor outside the door exclaimed in a panicked voice.
"Quick, hide! Back... back to the office!"
Under the Dean's menacing presence, the four doctors fled in disarray. Tang Qisheng and Zhu Jie, who had narrowly escaped, waited until everything outside was completely quiet before cautiously exiting the room. They then found the staircase on the side of the corridor and quickly made their way up to the 3rd floor.
Judging from the earlier commotion, the two knew that the Dean had come from the direction of the 3rd floor, and the current environment here confirmed this.
There were bloody handprints on the walls, and the chandeliers on the ceiling had shattered and hung down, swaying slightly in the air and occasionally emitting crackling electrical sounds.
Originally, they could have continued up the stairs, but unfortunately, the staircase leading to the 4th floor was blocked by a white iron door.
Tang Qisheng tried pushing it a few times, but the door didn't budge. What was even stranger was that there was no lock on the door at all.
"This way is a dead end. Is there another way?"
Zhu Jie frowned and looked at the other side of the corridor. "That would be a long detour. The remaining staircase is at the other end."
With no better option available, the two could only cautiously move forward. This was the 3rd floor, and if he remembered correctly, there was also a ghost on this floor.
"Snap!"
"Snap!"
Turning a corner, they entered an unfamiliar corridor. Sharp sounds seemed to be cutting at their heartstrings.
Tang Qisheng remembered now. This floor had a hunched-back doctor ghost with sloping shoulders, dragging a giant pair of scissors.
"Damn it! Why are these ghosts all awake?"
Tang Qisheng's curses in his heart wouldn't solve anything. He could only look at Zhu Jie with a sliver of hope. "Can we detour around it?"
Zhu Jie shook his head, his face looking grim. "No, this is the only way."
Now that they were closer, the two could hear it more clearly. The loud snapping sound was coming from a room, along with a ghastly red light that was radiating from within.
Softening their footsteps, the two planned to pass quickly, taking it by surprise. Tang Qisheng restrained himself, making sure not to look inside at the moment they passed by, in order to avoid unnecessary trouble.
Fortunately, everything went smoothly. After quickly passing the door, the two immediately crossed the corridor, turned a corner, and arrived at a completely new corridor. But before they could catch their breath, the scene before them instantly stunned them.
"Snap!"
"Snap!"
They saw another room emitting a red glow deep in the corridor ahead, and the sharp snapping sounds came one after another.
Realizing what was happening, Tang Qisheng quickly turned around and walked back a few steps to the corridor they had just passed through. However, the corridor behind them was gone. Behind the corner was only the staircase they had come up from not long ago.
"What's going on?!"
Tang Qisheng's mind went blank. He had seen ghost walls before, but for one to suddenly appear at this critical moment caught him off guard. More importantly, it meant that their whereabouts had already been exposed.
His breathing became rapid. After waiting for a minute, the worst-case scenario didn't happen. No blue-faced, fanged scissor ghost burst out of the door in the corridor to dismember them.
"Let's go, we'll go again." Zhu Jie grabbed Tang Qisheng's hand and squeezed it hard. "I don't think the ghost has discovered us yet, and the clue is likely in that room."
This time, as the two passed by, they looked into the room. Although they had prepared themselves mentally, they were still shocked by the bloody scene inside. They saw corpses casually thrown on the ground, and another corpse hung high, a steel hook piercing its throat, its face corroded beyond recognition.
"Snap!"
The giant scissors swung, and the corpse's left arm was cut off directly.
"Wrong! Wrong again!" The hunchbacked doctor wielding the scissors roared, and then cut off the corpse's right leg. "That's right, you disgusting freaks, you freaks with deformed limbs!"
"But it doesn't matter, you are my patients, and I will help you trim off the excess parts. I am a doctor! I must cure you!"
"Snap!"
"Snap!"
Under the almost insane operation, the corpse was soon cut into pieces. What was even more horrifying was that the hunchbacked doctor threw away the scissors, took out a needle and thread, and sewed the cut-off limbs back on, only to sew the legs onto the face and the arms onto the original leg positions.
After busying himself for a while, the panting hunchbacked doctor looked up at his creation and let out a wheezing laugh. The doctor, with one shoulder high and one shoulder low, arms of different lengths, and legs of different lengths, was turned away from them, they could guess the extent of his monstrosity just from looking at his back.
The corners of the room were piled with severed limbs and various creations that exceeded human physiological limits, and the thick smell of blood was nauseating.
What surprised Tang Qisheng even more was that the owners of these creations were not only patients wearing hospital gowns, but also doctors in white coats and female nurses. In the corner, a headless orderly's body was hanging upside down.
The scissor doctor's cruelty exceeded Tang Qisheng's imagination. He not only killed patients, but he didn't even spare his colleagues in the hospital.
A few seconds later, the two returned to their previous position again. After the corner was still the staircase, and in front of them was still the corridor.
But this time, Tang Qisheng noticed something different. The bloody slaughterhouse in the corridor that emitted a red glow seemed to be closer to them.
