Chapter 816 Gift Box

Chapter 26 The Boy with the Gift Box

The car was filled with fog. Beyond the nearby rows of seats, only blurry outlines remained.

Because of their previous experience, they went straight to find seats.

Just as Fatty nervously looked around, the doors closed and the bus started moving.

The sound of this old bus starting up was very strange. Besides the buzzing of the engine and the friction of mechanical parts, it was also mixed with the helpless sobbing of a woman, and the whimpering sound of an old man with something stuck in his throat.

The sounds came from all directions, making it impossible to pinpoint their location. Jiang Cheng even heard children giggling.

Judging from Fatty and Huai Yi's expressions, everyone had heard it.

This was a ghost bus.

Countless vengeful ghosts were hidden on the bus, and the ultimate goal of this bus was to kill them all and keep them on it forever.

"Da."

"Da."

"Da."

The three of them turned their heads almost simultaneously to look behind them. There was a hint of fear in Huai Yi's eyes. Something was coming towards them through the fog.

Slowly, a figure parted the fog like breaking the surface of water and walked out.

It was... a boy who looked like a middle school student, wearing a blue and white striped outfit that was loose and baggy, somewhat like pajamas, but Jiang Cheng thought it more likely to be a hospital gown.

The boy looked clean, with fair skin and a weak aura. There was no sense of strangeness or threat about him, which made people feel relaxed.

But one thing that was unsettling was that the boy's eyes were covered by thick bangs. Jiang Cheng and the others couldn't see the boy's eyes at all.

The square box he was holding caught everyone's attention.

It was a bit bigger than a shoebox and looked very delicate. Huai Yi's first thought was that it was a gift for a girl.

Although they couldn't see the boy's eyes, all three of them were sure that the boy was looking at them through his bangs because they could feel his gaze.

It was a very strange feeling.

"Sirs," the boy said, his lips slightly parted, "your stop is coming up."

Fatty frowned. What kind of question was that? If they didn't get off, were they supposed to stay on this bus forever?

"Mm," Jiang Cheng said calmly, staring at his bangs, "it should be soon."

"Then can you do me a favor?" the boy asked, his voice clear and matching his overall demeanor.

Normally, they would have helped without hesitation, but on this bus…

"Tell us what kind of favor first," Jiang Cheng said, his voice even more innocent than the boy's. "Our abilities are limited, and we're afraid we might mess things up."

"It's like this, I have a friend, and she made a bet with me, saying that she could definitely beat me in the game, but she lost. She's very scared, and I want to comfort her, but I don't know how to express myself, so I want you to help me give her this gift." The boy shook the box in his hand, and a "clattering" sound came from inside.

Jiang Cheng pretended to think for a moment, then instructed the boy in the tone of someone who had been there before, "I think it's better if you give the gift to her yourself. It'll better express your apology to her. It would be a bit impolite to have us outsiders deliver it for you, don't you think?"

"You're right," the boy said, nodding slightly after a moment of thought.

Fatty and Huai Yi couldn't help but get excited when they heard Jiang Cheng persuade the boy. Now they saw the boy as the same kind of thing as the old woman from last time, someone who was here to deliver a mission. If they could prevent the mission from starting at the source, maybe they could really avoid it.

But in the next second, the boy's face suddenly changed. Blue veins began to appear on his fair skin, and the hand holding the gift box began to tremble. Coupled with the hospital gown, the scene suddenly became exceptionally creepy.

"But... but I forgot her name." Blood tears streamed from the boy's eyes hidden under his bangs, and he suddenly roared in a low voice, "Damn it! You should all be dead!"

Just a second before the scene was about to get out of control, Jiang Cheng immediately stood up and said to the boy in a friendly manner, "What a loyal and righteous young man, I'll help you!"

Immediately afterward, Fatty and Huai Yi widened their eyes. They saw that the boy immediately stopped shaking.

In just a few seconds, the blue veins receded, and he turned back into the refined-looking boy, his voice gentle again, "Really? Thank you, sir, you're such a good person."

Fatty and Huai Yi: "…"

Without rashly taking the gift box, Jiang Cheng asked, "But you don't know her name, how are we supposed to deliver it to her?"

This was a very real problem.

Unexpectedly, the boy curled up the corners of his mouth and smiled faintly, "So that's what you're worried about, sir. Coincidentally, the stop where you get off is exactly in the direction of her house, and don't worry, as long as you're lucky enough, you'll definitely find her."

"Is that so?" Jiang Cheng took a deep breath.

He took the time to glance at Fatty and Huai Yi, and found that their faces were very pale, as if they had foreseen a terrible consequence.

Just as Jiang Cheng was thinking about whether he could get more clues from the boy, he suddenly felt the bus slowing down significantly.

The bus was slowing down, which meant... they were about to arrive.

Jiang Cheng reached out to take the gift box from the boy's hand, but the gift box seemed to be stuck to the boy's hand, not moving at all. This made Jiang Cheng a little confused.

"Sirs, please get off the bus first," the boy said casually, "The gift box is very important, I want to play with it for a while longer. I'll hand it to the last one of you when he gets off the bus."

The boy's mouth cracked open a little, revealing a mouthful of sharp teeth, "I'm worried... something might happen."

Seeing this side of the boy, Jiang Cheng immediately retracted his hand and acted very cooperatively, "Okay, we'll do as you say."

After the bus came to a stop and the doors opened, Jiang Cheng let Fatty and Huai Yi get off first, and he stayed behind.

The boy held the gift box out in front of him, and Jiang Cheng, imitating the boy's exact posture, held it out to receive the gift box.

The gift box was heavier than he thought, and there seemed to be some patterns painted on it, but they were very blurry, as if there was a layer of something obscuring them, making it difficult to see clearly.

But he could make out the colors. Besides the obvious red, most of it was a gray-black color. The overall tone was rather strange, and Jiang Cheng couldn't imagine what kind of object would need to be packaged in such a box.

"Sir." Just as Jiang Cheng turned around, walked towards the bus door, and was about to get off the bus, he heard the boy's voice from behind, "Please be careful, the contents inside are very important."

"Got it."

Even if the boy didn't say it, Jiang Cheng knew that this box was very important. Now he was even more curious about what was inside the box.

As he stepped out of the bus door, Jiang Cheng's face suddenly changed drastically.

"The... the ground?"

His step was like stepping off a cliff, and he involuntarily fell downwards.
