Gentle Sleep Instructor

Chapter 800 Sister

The sky gradually darkened. Jiang Cheng had been upstairs all day. Fatty was worried and asked several times.

The bedroom door was closed. Jiang Cheng replied that he was fine, just tired.

Hearing Jiang Cheng's voice, which sounded much more energetic than before, Fatty's mood improved a lot.

After going downstairs, Huai Yi was relieved to hear that Jiang Cheng was okay and then hurriedly left.

His little sisters-in-law were still staying at the hotel. He was worried and eager to go back and check on them.

Fatty was left alone on the first floor of the studio again.

When Huai Yi was around, there was someone to talk to and distract him, but now that he was alone, he started to overthink again.

Wang Qi, Pi Ruan, and even Boss Lin... faces flashed through his mind, but this time, he stubbornly held back his tears.

The doctor was right. He had to be strong. He didn't want to be a burden to everyone anymore.

"Thump."

"Thump."

"Thud."

...

Footsteps sounded, descending the stairs.

Fatty, sitting on the sofa, turned his head and saw the doctor coming down. "Put on your clothes, and come with me," Jiang Cheng said, walking towards him.

"Now?" Fatty reacted, tilting his head to look at the window.

It was already dark outside, and the last time they went out at night, they encountered that bus. He instinctively resisted.

"I know what you're worried about, but this time is different." Jiang Cheng paused. "It's very important."

Hearing this, Fatty immediately went to get his coat. He knew very well what kind of person the doctor was. If he said something was very important, it was definitely a matter of life and death.

So important that being a second late could result in instant death.

"Where are you going?"

Fatty was heading towards the door when Jiang Cheng stopped him. He turned his head, puzzled, looked at Jiang Cheng, and asked, "Going out. Didn't you say we were going out, Doctor?"

"Not through the door. This way." Jiang Cheng led Fatty to the second floor, into the bedroom, without turning on the light, and then pushed open the only window in the bedroom.

"We're jumping out the window?" Fatty suddenly lowered his voice and asked furtively, "Doctor, is someone watching us? Are we escaping secretly?"

"You go down first." Jiang Cheng didn't explain. "There's a protruding spot on your right side. You can step on it, and then down..."

But before Jiang Cheng could finish, he saw a large shadow flash by the window. Immediately afterward, Fatty's weak voice came from below, "Doctor, what did you say? I didn't hear you clearly."

"Move away a little and clear the space below," Jiang Cheng said a few seconds later.

"Okay, okay." The sound of Fatty's small steps came from below, obviously making room for the doctor.

Jiang Cheng held onto the window with both hands, his body suspended outside. He first closed the window partially, wedging something to hold it in place, and then stepped on the protrusion and jumped down.

Gently patting his clothes, Jiang Cheng said softly, "Watch your step, and follow me."

The two of them deliberately chose to walk through alleys. After about 20 minutes, they followed a dark path to the front of a house.

This was a bungalow, inconspicuous among the surrounding buildings, seemingly in the style of the late last century.

The window was covered with plastic sheeting, with faint light shining through.

The closed iron gate was covered in rust, and on either side of the door were faded couplets.

There was no horizontal inscription, but presumably, the people living here wouldn't care.

This seemed to be an urban village. In short, Fatty had never been here before, but seeing how familiar the doctor was, he knew that this place was very familiar to the doctor.

But he had never heard the doctor mention it.

Without knocking, Jiang Cheng reached his hand through the gap in the fence, moved it downward, and then heard a "click" sound.

He withdrew his hand, gently pushed, and the door opened.

Inside the door was a courtyard, not large, with a lot of debris piled on both sides, as well as large water tanks rarely seen in the city.

There was light in the room near the left side, the one with the window covered with plastic sheeting.

Standing in front of the room, Fatty saw that Jiang Cheng's outstretched hand was trembling. For a moment, he also became nervous, seemingly anticipating what would happen next.

"Creak—"

The door was pushed open, and behind it hung a thick, old curtain. Light shone through the gap in the middle of the curtain. Fatty recognized this thing; it was used in the countryside to keep out the cold.

Lifting the curtain, behind it was an ordinary room, but the layout inside... Fatty's eyes widened. It was exactly the same as the doctor's bedroom on the second floor of the studio!

A mattress was lying on the floor, and in front of the desk, a person was standing.

Wearing a police uniform, the tailored shirt outlined a breathtaking figure, coupled with that ethereal face and those eyes...

"Boss Lin!" Fatty's reaction was even more exaggerated than Jiang Cheng's. He immediately shouted out.

But Lin Wan'er was only looking at Jiang Cheng, tilting her head slightly as she looked. Neither of them spoke, as if competing to see who had more patience.

Even Fatty could tell that the doctor wasn't speaking because he was sulking.

Before coming, Fatty had imagined many possibilities, but he really didn't expect to see Boss Lin so quickly. The questions he had prepared for so long were now completely forgotten.

"You've come." Lin Wan'er finally spoke. "Did you see the mark I left for you?"

"I just happened to be passing by," Jiang Cheng said. "I saw the lights on outside, so I thought I'd come in and take a look. I didn't expect you to be here too."

Lin Wan'er smiled and didn't expose him.

Jiang Cheng stared at Lin Wan'er's face. All along, he had regarded Lin Wan'er as the most reliable person, his own older sister.

Even after discovering the various abnormalities about her, he still forcibly restrained himself, not daring to doubt her, as if as long as he deliberately ignored them, he could keep this dream from shattering.

Lin Wan'er was still that Lin Wan'er, and he was still himself.

But reality is reality after all. After the dream shattered like a bubble, what remained, even if it was more cruel, was the truth.

"Who exactly are you?" Jiang Cheng couldn't help but ask. Hearing his voice trembling, Lin Wan'er's eyebrows twitched slightly, but she still maintained the smile on her face.

"You've already guessed, haven't you?" Lin Wan'er said.

"Behind you, it's not the Night Watch, it's the State." Jiang Cheng said, "Besides it, I can't imagine what else has the ability to erase the traces of a person's existence."

"The energy you have in Rong City was also given to you by it, so you can be so unscrupulous." Jiang Cheng wasn't speaking randomly. Over the years, he had never seen Lin Wan'er being bullied. She was a person who hated trouble, so she generally didn't take the initiative to bully others.

Of course, some ignorant exceptions.

Like that rich woman who threatened Pi Ruan, even if she didn't die, she wouldn't be able to stay in Rong City anymore.
