Chapter 195 Measures

Chapter 24 The Meaning of Time

While Su Xiaoxiao was taking care of her younger brother, Su An, the fatty leaned close to Jiang Cheng and whispered, "Doctor, is what she said true?"

Having been repeatedly deceived by his teammates, the fatty had lost the most basic trust between people. Now he only believed in the doctor's words; he didn't even believe in himself.

"I feel like she agreed too readily," the fatty glanced at Su Xiaoxiao, who was facing away from them, squatting down to wipe her brother's face. He swallowed and continued, "I thought we'd have to use some tricks to pry her mouth open."

Jiang Cheng looked at the fatty with disgust. His cheeks were puffed out, and his eyes were fierce. He felt that this fatty was very different from before.

He had learned to be bad, spouting a bunch of stuff about enemy agents interrogating unyielding patriots.

"And what's with the altar? This is..."

"What she said should be true," Jiang Cheng interrupted the fatty's endless nagging, tightening his shoelaces as he glanced at Su Xiaoxiao and Su An. "She wants to end the mission as soon as possible so that her brother has a chance to survive. As for who gets out first or who gets the reward, she can't worry about that anymore."

"My dear doctor..." The fatty seemed very anxious about the doctor's underestimation of the situation but still tried to say in a calm tone, "You believe her just because she says that's her brother? Can't it be an act?"

"You saw it too. Although that kid is big, his brain isn't as good as mine," the fatty pointed to his head, anxiously saying, "Maybe he was tricked in here by Su Xiaoxiao and will be used as a shield at a critical moment. It could also be to confuse us."

"Tsk," Jiang Cheng paused, curiously looking the fatty up and down, and said, "Fatty, tell me the truth. Did the nightmare do something to you while I was gone?"

"Doctor, the nightmare didn't pamper me even when you were here," the fatty retorted, sticking out his neck.

"Two points," Jiang Cheng sat up straight and held up two fingers, shaking them. "First, no one would drag a shield around when they can barely save their own life."

"Second," Jiang Cheng said, "how do you explain Su An's shoulder wound?"

The fatty paused, but then opened his mouth again, as if to continue arguing.

But Jiang Cheng interrupted him, pinching the latter's chubby face and gently patting it. "Fatty," Jiang Cheng sighed.

"Doctor, what do you want to say?" The fatty widened his eyes.

"You look handsome when you're trying hard," Jiang Cheng said very sincerely, "but don't make it too hard on yourself because you... don't have a brain like mine." Jiang Cheng's voice suddenly became impassioned.

Fatty: "..."

From the time they came out until now, at least 4 or 5 hours had passed, but the sun overhead was still bright. Staring at the sun, the dazzling light was almost blinding.

Time seemed to have lost its meaning here.

Jiang Cheng shrank behind a rock, and Su Xiaoxiao also dragged her brother in. Appropriate sunlight was naturally a good thing, but too much was as bad as too little.

The fatty took the time to check on Su An. He still hadn't woken up.

But strangely, his originally pale and bloodless face had improved a little, and the bleeding had stopped.

Su Xiaoxiao wiped the blood off her hands with sand and then came to sit next to Jiang Cheng.

Neither of them spoke. One looked at the sea, and the other stared blankly into space.

The fatty suddenly felt that this scene seemed to have been seen in a TV series. Some couples would stage such a scene before breaking up.

After waiting for a while, the fatty couldn't bear it anymore. He was worried that it would suddenly get dark, which would be dangerous outside the building.

The things in the forest, as well as the so-called people of Black Stone Town, might take the opportunity to appear.

In fact, compared to the things in the forest, the fatty felt that the people in Black Stone Town were more suspicious. A city that only appeared on the sea at night, what kind of guys would the townspeople living there be?

"Excuse me," the fatty raised his hand. "When... when are we going back?"

Jiang Cheng glanced at Su Xiaoxiao, who didn't react. "Wait a little longer," Jiang Cheng said, squinting his eyes.

But his gaze was directed towards the building, where the door was open, and there seemed to be a cloud of mist inside that wouldn't dissipate.

"Are you waiting for something?" The fatty blinked. He felt that he seemed to have seen through their plans.

"Almost."

Su Xiaoxiao supported herself with one hand and jumped off the rock. Although her body was petite, her proportions were very good, and the lines of her white, glowing legs were even.

In a daze, the fatty was once again assigned to carry the unconscious Su An on his back. Jiang Cheng and Su Xiaoxiao walked in front, and the fatty followed in small steps behind.

Because this was not only Su Xiaoxiao's intention, but the doctor also did not object.

Before entering the building, Jiang Cheng and Su Xiaoxiao both paused for a while before stepping into the dimness in front of them.

The inside of the building was dilapidated, and everywhere was left with traces of time. Fortunately, the two walked very slowly so that the fatty carrying a person could barely keep up.

After passing a broken stone pillar, Jiang Cheng suddenly stopped. The fatty had always maintained a distance of less than 1 meter from Jiang Cheng. He couldn't brake in time and almost crashed into him.

"Who?!"

The next second, Su Xiaoxiao had a jagged stone in her hand.

A figure slowly walked out from behind the stone pillar. "Don't be nervous," Chen Ran said very easily. "It's me."

The fatty stared at him and asked, "What are you doing here?"

"There's nothing of interest in that room, so I thought I'd come out for a walk," he said with a faint smile, squinting his eyes. "It's better than waiting, isn't it?"

He looked at Su An behind the fatty and asked with feigned surprise, "Why is he like this? Did... did something happen?"

Clearly, Chen Ran had discovered them after they came in.

After that, he hid in the dark, but now he was pretending to have run into them by chance...

"When did you come out?" Su Xiaoxiao asked.

"That..." Chen Ran tapped his head with his hand, and after a while, he replied with a smile, "Probably not long after you left."

Although his tone was polite, it was full of flippancy. The fatty looked at the doctor and Su Xiaoxiao, but found that there was no special expression on their faces, as if they had already guessed that Chen Ran would leave.

The fatty then realized the problem. It was that old woman!

The doctor had once reminded him to be careful of her. The doctor didn't say why, but the fatty suddenly remembered a sentence the old woman had said when she went crazy.

She said that everyone was alive, no one was dead, and they all lived... in her body.

In the body!!

He suddenly raised his head, and his thoughts immediately returned to the mysterious disappearance of the motorcycle girl when he was in the same room with the old woman before.

"Everyone," Chen Ran smiled. "Now we will go up together. If similar things happen inside again, then..."

He paused and spread his hands helplessly. "I'm afraid we'll need to take some unavoidable measures."
