Celebi tugged at Julian’s hair in protest: "At least ask me! Maybe I know something."
Annoyed by its nagging, Julian finally asked, "Fine, then do you know why this secret realm is being destroyed?"
Celebi thought for a moment, then said with confidence: "No idea."
Julian yanked it off his head, pulling its cheeks with both hands, teeth clenched: "Have I been too soft on you lately?"
"Ghehe~"
Gengar emerged from the shadows, grinning at Julian’s frustration.
Thinking back to Celebi saying that the secret realm’s natural energy was violent, and Alakazam saying it was heading toward destruction, Julian realized the two must be connected.
As for the exact cause—that was what he needed to figure out.
Only by finding the reason could he hope to find a solution. Otherwise, he was nothing more than a headless fly right now.
As for how to find the cause—well, he truly had no idea.
So, for now, he was indeed just fumbling around like a headless fly.
It seemed he could only take things one step at a time.
"Kartana, if you see any Elite-level Pokémon, knock them down. Remember—don’t kill them."
"Metagross, if it’s a Pseudo-Champion, it’s yours."
Julian said to the two Pokémon.
His plan was to capture all the Elite and Pseudo-Champion level Pokémon he encountered.
That way, even after the stable period ended and the secret realm went into another frenzy, the impact on the outside world would be minimized once those high-level Pokémon were reduced.
After all, this was Pannar’s territory. Julian couldn’t just take everything for himself.
Kartana: "So I can’t cut off their heads?"
With its hands behind its back and its gaze turned skyward, Kartana struck a pose full of arrogance.
Kartana: "Even with Julian holding me back, I—Kartana—remain unmatched in the world."
Julian couldn’t help but lightly knock Kartana on the head: "Why so much nonsense? If you don’t want to go, I’ll send Arcanine instead."
Fearing its prey might be stolen by another teammate, Kartana vanished instantly—because it had just spotted an Elite-level Pokémon below.
---
Half a month later.
Julian rode on Moltres’ back, looking down at the completely frenzied Pokémon below.
They were all rushing toward the secret realm’s gate.
Even Water-types that normally couldn’t live on land were leaping ashore without hesitation, not caring whether they could survive there or not.
Julian watched as Magikarp and Feebas kept flopping desperately onto the riverbank.
This left Julian with no choice but to believe it—this secret realm was truly heading toward destruction.
Even brainless Pokémon like Magikarp and Feebas were resorting to such desperate measures to escape.
And maybe because the end was drawing closer, even Julian, as a human, could feel a growing sense of unease just by staying inside the secret realm.
It felt as if something was weighing on his heart, making him restless.
He had tried leaving the secret realm, and the moment he did, this feeling of unease immediately vanished.
As the aura of destruction grew stronger, hundreds of millions of Pokémon had already fled the secret realm, and even though Pannar’s army and trainers tried to contain them, countless still slipped through their encirclement.
And this was just the beginning—there were at least a billion more Pokémon still inside. If all of them escaped, it would undoubtedly cause catastrophic damage to Pannar’s ecosystem and populated areas.
So, Pannar had made a decision—Champion Omar, along with the country’s high-level trainers, would eliminate the Pokémon pouring out of the secret realm outright.
This meant slaughter—the deaths of over millions of Pokémon. By the time it was over, every person involved would have thousands of innocent lives on their hands.
And even then… it was impossible to kill them all quickly. The sheer numbers were overwhelming.
The Pokémon weren’t sitting ducks—they knew how to resist.
If Pannar officially gave the kill order, the most likely outcome would be mutual destruction for both sides.
---
Inside the secret realm, Julian was resting on a thick tree branch.
He chose to rest above ground because down there everything was chaos, Pokémon frantically trying to escape, and none of them cared about one human sitting in a tree.
A Kakuna hung from the same tree, now staring at Julian.
Julian: "Why haven’t you evolved yet? Didn’t you see all your companions already evolve? If you don’t evolve soon, you might die here."
Beedrill, under most circumstances, would never abandon a Kakuna. But now, there wasn’t a single Beedrill left on this tree.
A few Kakuna had been hanging here earlier, but they had all evolved into Beedrill one after another and immediately fled.
Now only this one remained, still stuck in its cocoon.
The Kakuna was anxious too—it had evolved from Weedle into Kakuna just yesterday, and at the fastest it still needed another five days before it could become a Beedrill.
And now this damned human was standing in front of it, running his mouth, instead of helping it escape the secret realm.
And if he knew the secret realm was about to be destroyed, why haven’t he left yet?
For now, Kakuna could only hope to evolve into Beedrill before the secret realm met its end.
"Oh, let me tell you—this secret realm’s got about four days left before its destroyed. Not sure if you'll make it in time."
"And even if you evolved today, it would take you at least seven days flying non-stop without food or water to reach the secret realm's gate from here."
Kakuna: "So what you’re saying is—I’m dead for sure?"
Julian wasn’t trying to scare the Kakuna—Celebi had sensed that in four days, the natural energy of this secret realm would reach its most violent peak.
Which meant at that moment, the realm would be completely destroyed.
Julian planned to stay for three more days. If he still couldn’t find any clues by then, he would have no choice but to leave.
Looking at the utterly dejected Kakuna, Julian patted its shell cheerfully: "Don’t worry, I’m the destined benefactor of your cocoon life."
Kakuna: "Wait—you mean you’re going to save me?!"
It began shaking excitedly.
Julian: "Don’t get the wrong idea—I’m not saving you. But if I get the chance, I’ll let your siblings know how you died. Assuming, of course, they’re not all dead by then."
Kakuna: (╬艹皿艹)
If it weren’t for the fact that it couldn’t move at all right now, Kakuna swore it would have killed this bastard of a human in front of it.
What kind of twisted way of talking was this?! How the hell had this guy not been beaten to death in the outside world? Were all humans outside this trashy?
Kakuna: "Aaaagh! I want to evolve! I want to sting you to death!!"
"Kartana here kills without blinking."
Kakuna: "I admit I may have spoken a bit too loudly just now…"
